According to my opinion I would sure suggest that fir students esp. of teenage, poetry is the best genre that could be adopted.That too the General Poetry ones are the best🪄
If you are writing about the same gender of yours, you definitely will know about all the kinds of feelings you would be experiencing and all....but that won't work for opposite gender....
