I was inspired to write the book after I saw my clients struggling with business problems. I wanted to create a business resource that was easy to read, funny in places and covered many subjects. I saw clients making the same mistakes repeatedly, so I wondered if there was a way to help. From my teaching at university, I'd already started pointing out how science can guide us to find answers based on research, so the building blocks for the book were there. The book was written and published in about nine months, which was maybe a little too ambitious, but I did it.
People talk about the author's rollercoaster, and it's true. There are terrible moments of sell doubt. The editing stage was challenging, seeing all the corrections and brutal feedback from my professional editor. Bits of the book I loved were torn apart but my editor. You need to see the writing process as just that "a process" and take each day as it comes. Do a small amount each day and plan what you are doing. Acknowledge the highs and also the lows.
