I always read my reviews. I honestly can't tell if my work is "good" or "bad" - simply because I'm too close to it. It's always nice to hear compliments, but it's honestly not until someone gives constructive criticism that I know there's some area where I can improve! Having negative comments like "this was just awful", with nothing more - is unhelpful. It's not the fact that the person didn't like it, but they gave no *reason* they didn't like it! If there was a reason, I'd have something to work with, at least!
I think I would tell myself, "Just let your own voice be heard". That's what it's all about. No one can deliver a message in exactly the same way as YOU, because no one will speak exactly like you do, have the same thoughts, the same experiences, the same vision as you. So just be you!
