The story actually came to me after reading a small very short story my daughter wrote for school. It stimulated the creative process in me and I couldn’t help but feel drawn to write a book, filling out a full plot with a community of characters. I definitely asked her permission to write it and she was thrilled. Especially when it arrived in print.
Vicki, it's wonderful to hear how your daughter's short story sparked the inspiration for "Not Without Anna"! It's lovely that you involved her in the process and that she's thrilled to see the book in print.
I'm fascinated by the creative journey that unfolded from that initial spark. Your story is a testament to the power of inspiration and the importance of nurturing our creative ideas.

Writing should be enjoyable. If it’s hard and you’re frustrated, take a break. If you’re writing against a deadline, that can be tough. You want your best work to show. For me, being in the writing zone was great. I did my best work then. But, I never forced anything.
I’ve always wanted to write, since as long as I can remember. I started my career as a technical writer with a degree in Computer Science. I wrote computer user manuals. After I “retired “ from working outside my home, I began to write fiction, which was always my ultimate dream. The stories just poured out of me.
Understanding how to write well. Grammar, sentence structure, plot development, character profiles, conflict use. If you don’t understand the basics, you won’t be able to make any story a memorable story.
