TRULY INSPIRATIONAL!

A true story and well worth reading! This author writes from her heart and is creative, brilliant in a ingenious way of solving complex relational issues. I admired how generous and vulnerable Susan was in allowing her readers to journey with her and it was easy to relate to because life doesn't always go to plan! She left you feeling uplifted and wanting more because of her never say never attitude! Pick up this book because you won't want to put it down! BGM

This is a beautifully written book of the life of a real family that brings you tears, makes you laugh and brings warmth to your heart. This book takes you from the early memories of the author to present day. She handles every challenge with dignity and grace. Her strength is overwhelming but first and foremost is the love for her boys, Chris and Matt. The book breathes of love. She deals with anguish, sickness, drugs, alcohol, poverty and compulsive behavior of those touching her everyday life. She is sick herself but rises above this each and every time to make life better for others.

Finally, her life changes. This is a must read for anyone who has a family or is raising a family. An inspirational book for all. The ending brought me to tears as finally her cup was full with love, life and happiness. You will not put the book down until turning the final page.

This will be my very first review ever and this makes it difficult for me. I had personal soul healing experience while reading this book. The next day after the purchased I was finished with it. I could not have enough and I was just stopping to deal with my normal life as usual. Very easy to read.
I was able to relate to a lot of the events, due to having difficult childhood myself with later different difficulty in life and chronic health problems.
Variety of feelings came to surface. I was able to deal with a lot of suppressed emotions I had and now I feel more free and lighter.
Thank you for this book.

A wonderful memoir that explores in depth the obstacles confronted during a life well lived. This story is a passionate and beautiful reflection of the many trials faced by women in their lives, the complexity and fickleness of family relationships, and the heart-warming bravery and stoicism of the author when unexpected personal illness permeates and complicates her life story. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and developed a deep admiration for the resilience and strength displayed in a life where every day offers a new challenge. Compelling!

The compelling story of a life that has been through many challenges. It is written from the heart. Her rollercoaster started when she was 16 years old after the parents she loved and adored, divorced. Her life was never the same afterwards. In the midst of all her personal turmoil she was searching and eventually found her faith in God. I found her book to be honest and heartwarming about her life's journey.

You Need This Book In Your Life

This woman has experienced practically every high and low imaginable. I was immediately engaged from start to finish. My lord what she endured. No slow start, no dull moments, and a very easy read. It took me less than 24 hours to finish. It was that good.
I believe that anyone, no matter what walk of life you are, will find something in this story to relate to. It made me contemplate my own life. Many times I compared my life to hers. I saw things she handled well and I had wished I had that know-how and temperament. Very inspirational; I got lots of ideas on how to balance emotional upheavals.
There was a very subtle spiritual theme throughout. Subtle enough to not be overbearing and “preaching to the choir” type. It was woven in and out of her different life phases. A true life example was set on how God works in one’s life. You can see it without having to be told that God was there. More importantly, she was an agnostic at one point, and totally resisted any kind of faith. To see all these things play out over such a long period of time was wonderful.
I only wished the book was bigger.

Truth is more interesting than fiction. Susan has written a riveting story about her life than reveals the ups and downs of a dysfunctional family, and overcoming life's difficult challenges. She reveals her many and varied struggles to overcome life's difficult challenges. Life is a struggle, yet Susan finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. She is dedicated to her family and despite life pulling her family apart she strives to hold it together despite the odds.

It is a story of struggle, resillience and determination to break the cycles of dysfunctionality from one generation to the next. She is misunderstood and not believed about her degenerating physical condition and yet has the emotional resilience to believe in herself

It is also a story of rejecting God who breaks into Susan's life with his grace; despite her initial rejection of him. How faith enables her to endure life, death, fears for her family and her own fears.

It is an interesting and easy to read true story that is hard to put down.

I know Susan personally, and as I read this book, I wondered... can a friend really do an impartial review? As I read through the pages, I could hear Susan's voice and her emotion coming through. I have been with Susan as she has faced some of these challenges, and how she describes it in her book is open, honest and raw. What you read is the real Susan coming through. The challenges and difficulties she has faced would find others running away. But as she recognized the importance of God in her life, she found the strength to face and overcome each one, but not without many tears and heartache... but that is a part of life we all face.
This is a story that will encourage anyone going through overwhelming difficulties that living today can bring. We all face challenges differently, but knowing you are not alone can bring comfort and hope.
I highly recommend this book.

This was an inspirational, heart touching and interesting book. It told the life story of the author and her journey to understand, accept herself and her family throughout their lifetime's. She told about her personal journey from a confused self to a proud, accepting, strong , Christian woman. She had numerous heartache's, trauma and medical problem's but rose above all of them. And what helped her grow in strength and determination was reaching out to other's. Wether it was doctor's, friend's, support group's, family and especially her Lord Jesus Christ. This book will renew your faith, strength, love for other's and yourself!!!

Life, Loss and Love. That is exactly what this book is about. Read this - you won't be able to put it down! Susan's writing style is so easy to read. I really enjoyed reading about the different chapters in Susan's life and the chapter headings kept me wanting more. There are strong themes of Susan's love for her family, resilience and endurance. This really showed through her relationships especially for her two sons. I related to some of the experience such as attending Catholic schools and the experiences there. The book starts from Susan's childhood and progresses to later in adulthood. Topics of marriage and childbirth and childrearing are explored really well. Susan's resilience is demonstrated through her endurance while experiencing her physical symptoms and pain. I enjoyed reading about Susan's children as adults and their families and the joy Susan experienced. You can really see the amazing qualities of Susan as a mother, mother in law and a person. Later the book explores various supports that assisted Susan to keep going which I believe contributed to her resilience. With the current circumstances with aged care facilities it was interesting to read about this as something that Susan needed to explore for a family member. A wonderful uplifting read which shows you that no matter what comes your way you can access support, and with the right positive mindset you can get through it and enjoy life!

This is a rawly honest account of a hard life well lived. The author has been brutally honest with her reflections. She has not had an easy life but has been supported by good friends and eventually her faith and relationship with Jesus. This is a great read for anyone who is struggling in life. It doesn’t gloss over the tough parts. Instead it shows how your life can be improved if you are willing to continue to work on yourself and make the necessary changes. Have faith, life can be beautiful and a life shared with others can be a blessing. A great book about family, friends and faith 💕

A beautiful journey of bittersweet moments in the author's life has been portrayed in this book by Susan Nicholson. The autobiographical nature of this narration makes one marvel at the resilience of her spirit and the power of sheer faith to rise from the worst of situations into the light of hope. The story spans across three generations of people who've been closely related to the author and her responses to her own illnesses and vulnerability along with coping with their problems is remarkable. This book made me feel that it can get very dark at times but there's always light at the end of the tunnel. There's always something to fight for, to appreciate the beauty of life and always someone to help out. I'm amazed at how the author has included her experiences of loneliness, emotional and physical pain and has still not given up on life but has kept on going and supporting her parents, her kids and everyone whom she loved and cared for. I truly wish that we have the courage to find similar support groups that she did, when the suffering is too much to bear.
I congratulate the author's entire family for this beautiful book that she has written.

A compelling read which shares insight into an often raw and heartwarming life journey, sharing the highs and lows that is Susan’s life. Susan found strength in adversity to overcome all life had to throw at her; from others’ disbelief of her illnesses, the gradual withdrawal of her husband from family life, ending in his suicide. After so many adversities, Susan found self love, God and with the love of Greg, her beloved mother and sons, she has now embarked on helping others through the establishment of online support group for Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP). One can only admire Susan’s resilient, loving nature and her ability to remain positive.

Recently finished reading Susan Nicholson's book 'Life Loss and Love' and felt deeply impacted by the themes explored in the book. It's about having patience, no matter how rough a hand life deals you with; a story of belief and spiritual connection that helps heal old wounds and paves the road to self-discovery.
I was amazed at how the author has bravely recounted incidents from her life where she copes with profound loss and still manages to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It reminds us that many a time, we're not to blame for a failed relationship, onset of an illness or incapacity to deal with death of loves ones.
I think it's a perfect read for someone who's at crossroads of his/her life and needs just the right push to believe that everything pans out okay when you have love and faith.
