Joel Crofoot was raised in northern New York state on a large family sheep farm, then left home to join the United States Marine Corps at 18 years-old. After spending four years in Japan as a radio operator, Joel re-enlisted into the bomb squad (explosive ordnance disposal) and was stationed out of California. Two tours to Iraq later, Joel decided to leave the Marine Corps to pursue higher education and graduated with a doctorate in psychology in July of 2017. No Tougher Duty, No Greater Honor

This book was written by one of the Marines I deployed with in 2005. He even gives a fairly accurate and slightly embellished description of me in it, but I will let you try to figure out which character I am in this book. I highly recommend this book, not just because I'm in it, but because it serves as a reminder of what we have to lose and how much we can endure.
