I know many of my earlier works (I've been published for 20 years) probably used the same overdone tropes, and after writing three dozen Regencies, it's difficult to find something unique. That's why my books aren't coming out as fast these days. I don't want to repeat, and I don't want to write the same book everyone else is writing. I do believe I took great pains that my last three full-length novels were unique. They were Countess by Coincidence, Oh What a (Wedding) NIght, and Miss Hastings' Excellent London Adventure. (This month I learned that last year's Oh What a (Wedding) Night was second place for Best Historical of 2016 in the International Digital Awards, so I believe readers did enjoy it.) Right now, I'm shooting down every single plot that pops into my head because it's been done before. Very sad.(less)

London’s Cheyne Walk and Its Fames Residents

©By Cheryl Bolen

Cheyne Walk is a rarity in London: a street of lovely mansions practically on the banks of the River Thames. Located in Chelsea, the walk was originally constructed in the early 1700’s and over the centuries has been home to a Who’s Who of authors, painters, musicians, one Prime Minister, and in more recent decades, billionaires.

The street is named after Lord Cheyne who li

“You ought to marry her, then. A man could do worse. How many men can say their wife is their best friend? Besides me, of course. I cannot too highly praise the magic of sharing every day of your life with the one person most calculated to give you pleasure.”
Cheryl Bolen, A Christmas in Bath

Cheryl Bolen Thanks, Linda, for your friendship! I love readers and totally understand what a passion reading is because I would rather read than anything.

message 1: by Linda

Linda Thank you for being a new friend. I just got another of your books today... Can't wait to read it. I love reading more than anything. It is my passion and I always, always have a book going. Sometimes two, but usually I focus on one at a time if it is a really good one and I've read many good ones from authors on this wonderful site. Have a great week. :)
