Pierwszy tom urzekł mnie specyficznym stylem pisania. Jest w nim coś bardzo prostego, żeby nie powiedzieć topornego i to właśnie ten styl tworzy klimat. Miałam wrażenie, że bohater idealnie do niego pasuje. Całkowicie pozbawiony motywacji do życia, pracujący w zakładzie pogrzebowym, leniwie żyjący z dnia na dzień, nie lubiący zmian. Małomówny, stroniący od ludzi, pogrążony w żalu po śmierci rodziny. Do tego ciężki, nocny klimat Londynu 1888 roku, ktoś wspomina o kolejnym morderstwie Kuby Rozpruwacza. Wszystko tutaj toczy się jakby we mgle, w zwolnionym tempie, a przynajmniej ja miałam takie wrażenie. Nawet rozwijający się romans pomiędzy Timem a wampirem Cyrylem.
Jest w tej książce coś innego, co nie każdemu może się spodobać. Bohaterzy darzą się uczuciem, ale próżno tutaj szukać ognistego seksu i fajerwerków. W celibacie nie żyją, ale o ich temperamencie w sypialni w zasadzie nie wiemy nic ;) Fabuła jest wciągająca, a wątek Tima odkrywającego sekrety swej rodziny ciekawie poprowadzony. Przeczytałam z przyjemnością, niemniej kolejny tom muszę przegryźć czymś szybszym ;)

This is my first ever one star review, so let it suffice to say that I despised this book. I’m not sure how the author managed to make a queer vampire love story set in the victorian area SO boring, but they did.

Undertakers Inc by JC Compton was simply what we call an amazing read, that has all the ingredients to make it a superhit.
The book not only has the ability to make all the readers fall in love with the main characters of the story.
But rather, it also makes us fall in love with the secondary characters, who were not just there for show, but added value.
The transition of Tim from being a rather naive individual, not having much information about what was happening around him to finding his potential was fulfilling.
Nobody is safe, even the dreadful vampires as well, and this danger is what makes this even more alluring than ever.
This book has all which I look for in a great read, right from mystery, adventure and great romance that we all love.
I will surely recommend this for everyone to give it a try as this is a book which will definitely not leave any one disappointed.

Easily one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. The author does a good job of keeping my attention (slim attention span, so few books can accomplish that), but moving the story along at a very good pace and having it make sense. There’s a constant feeling of intrigue for what will happen next, so much so that I’ve labeled this as a page turner, which I don’t say often. Plus you can tell the author has done their research very well on anything they write about. 5 stars is too low for this book!

MUST READ. I love action-packed vampire books, and this one will have you guessing until the very end. I loved the characters and the Victorian atmosphere! This book has a sequel too, which is just as good!

Tim Thompson belonged to a lineage of family which was cursed by some unknown disease, which is why most of his closed relatives were dead. And it was also the reason why he wasn't able to get a job. Tim reaches out to Mr. Gallagher for a position in Undertakers incorporated and luckily gets a job. As time progressed further strange things occured around Tim. He wouldn't be accepted into normal restaurants and the one that accepted him, had odd timings for him to enter. He started seeing suspicious people around him, including the owner of Undertaker Inc. Miss Fiona Whittaker and a mysterious guy known as Cyril. He later finds out that Miss Fiona and Cyril are Vampires. Not only them but there are other Vampires as well. Usually Vampires keep their distance from humans as they have certain rules that forbid them to act irrationally and keep peace between their world and the mortals. He is slowly learning about Vampires and Ghouls when Cyril hints that his family might not be diagnosed by a disease, but they might be a target to some Vampire. This information fueled Tim's need for Vengeance. Will Tim find out the truth behind his family's mysterious death and uncover their secrets? Will Cyril and Tim be able to cross the hurdles of their relationship? To find out what happens in Tim's exciting yet thrilling journey, check out "Undertakers Inc."
This book can fall into Fantasy, Fiction, Romance or Supernatural genre. I loved the whole theme of the book. It gives very grunge and old London vibes. The vintage theme mixed with the supernatural genre of Vampires and Ghouls really brought a new excitement and the need the mood was astronomical. Its very Dark Academia and I am here for it. About the story, all the characters were carefully written and the plotlines were also connected properly. Its a slow paced story so if you want something that progresses this might not be for you but I would definitely recommend you to try it. If you are a fan of Dark Academia or any genre mentioned above, don't hesitate to give it a try.

Undertakers Inc- This book was recommended to me for reading by one of my fellow book reader colleague who has been carrying the same passion since my school days along with me. This is my first book about vampires, afterlife and other dark themed fantasy things. This is one of those books where you will find a complete combination and blend of creative content, lucid & relatable writing, intriguing climax and twists along with amazing book design theme and very muchh apt title of the book. We all read and watch movies about vampires , afterlife, but rarely we see or get to know about the detailing and exploring of the actual world of the vampires and their community. In this book the author has ensured a downright and thoroughgoing knowledge share about the vampires and their lifestyle. The story has protagonist Tim, who belonging to a vampire clan also awaits his destiny to live and fulfiill his life by reuniting with his dead family in the afterlife after they emerge from grave along with falling for an outlaw vampire. But things take a drastic turn when he is being hired by a powerful conflicting clan in the same vampire community who are involved in opium trafficking, vampire supremacy hunting, and other breeds of vampires belong to different North Eastern countries of the world. I am mesmerized with the clarity, the thought process and the relatable writing style of author J C Compton in which he has brought so much detailing and throroughness in the lives of vampire world and other powers that dwell there. Overall an amazingly articulated piece of fiction which is surely an entertainer and bang for each buck you spend. A must read for all, very excited to read more books from this author.

"Funeral directors Inc." is a hair-raising excursion to the opposite side of the grave and into a sensational epic showdown between the powers that stay there.The substance of this book will make you go for this book and you can not move past to this anyplace soon.The storytelling is captivating, I loved the characters, and i pulled out of the story.The story pulled me in from the AMAZING first chapter and kept my interest throughout. this was a disappointment to be sure & felt like the spark note version of an actual book most of the times. things happened so quickly and were so underdeveloped. the twists happened, new info was revealed, characters reacted to them for like 0.5 seconds & then we were moving on like nothing happened. What.
i was told things, but never shown nor did i believed them. the characters were never allowed to be more than one thing: tim was sad (or angry?? without any good reason btw???), hanson was vivacious, the lady who owns the undertaking business was proper, cyril was... i genuinely have no idea what cyril was. soft? stupid? idk fam he has the depth of a kids' pool and that's saying something, since he was the character i liked best.
there was so much potential here & maybe i'll like it more upon a second re-read, but i am not sure i want to make myself read those info dump sections again.
on the brighter side, this gets a thumbs-up for the cover. i think there's a reason for the author changing them, but man. i am sad to see the original ones go since they are so simple, yet stunning and so appropriate for the subject matter.
anyhow. i am done here. dnf.

Almost all of us have, at some point or another in our life may have wondered what happens after we die.
There are also some who may yearn for death because they feel like they will be meeting their departed ancestors and loved ones after they die.
However, what happens when we actually die and is the afterlife of what we actually deemed it to be are some of the questions that arise.
Like everyone else, our main protagonist Tim felt like he would meet his family once he died, and he did meet them, but there was a twist.
Now what further entails is a story of finding and unearthing the truth and embarking on a journey to remember.
This is one killer book for anyone who loves some good vampire and supernatural stories and is looking for a good book to devour.
I strongly urge anyone, not just supernatural lovers to pick it up because once you start it, you won't put it down for a moment.

Supernatural beings, especially vampires, were a topic that were only associated with dread and fearfulness in the past.
However, as we all know, there has been this phase in the past few decades which showed us rather a humanized form of supernaturals.
The book, Undertakers Inc by JC Compton does deal with these mystical beings, but what makes is different that it has characters which we can relate with.
Not expecting it at all, but thrown into a completely new world to save the love of his life, Tim must do whatever it takes.
However, navigating through this all would not be an easy task, which in turn just makes it that much more alluring.
Initially, I have to admit that I felt like this was going to be another cheesy supernatural story just like its contemporaries.
However, I am glad to have been proven wrong as this is definitely a book that can be said to be one of its kind, with exceptional story line.

There are certain times when we get a feeling of extreme sadness or melancholy because we feel like things are not going as per our liking.
We might feel like everything is over and that nothing is going to feel right ever again, regardless of how hard we might try.
It is during these times we must remember that if the ending is not as per our liking, then maybe it is not the end as we thought.
When Tim Thompson's entire family dies due to an unknown illness, he feels like everything is over for him and he waits for death.
However, soon we see how it was albeit not an end for all, and there would be some things which were kept a secret from him.
This was a book that has had a lot of hype recently, showing up on my various social media feeds and, thus, it certainly had a lot to live up to.
Regardless, I went in with a completely open mind, and it is safe to say that the book doesn't disappoint the readers at all.
We might feel like everything is over and that nothing is going to feel right ever again, regardless of how hard we might try.

However, the beauty of life is that it never goes according to what we want, what we desire or what we aspire.
But rather, it gives us what we need and exactly this is shown in the book, Undertakers Inc by author JC Compton.
Usually, vampires are the ones which are supposed to keep their distance from humans, as these are what can not be simply mixed.
However, what happens when our main protagonist, Tim comes face to face with vampires is an intriguing thriller that will take us on a journey to remember.
This was a fairly fast paced read and it simply does not take any time to get going, which is what I love in my books.
The ending was exciting, albeit a bit open ended for my liking, however there are other books in the series which will give some closure.

But the downside of this love is that it also makes us do some crazy things, or some unwarranted ones which we might not have done otherwise.
In the book, Undertakers Inc by author JC Compton, we see the tale of how this same love pushes Tim Thompson into a darker life that will not only be risky, but also put him in danger.
Yet, the sense of accomplishment which one feels after they do things for their loved ones is unparalleled, so will Tim be successful in his mission or not remains to be seen.
There was a pretty good portion of romance in the novel, however the uniqueness of the book lies in the actual storytelling.
I loved how author has managed to give depth to so many characters and such vivid storylines were happening in the background simultaneously.

If you were able to match up to the hype of the popular show Vampire Dairies and if it interested you to that extent that you Bing watched then you might also enjoy this book which also caters to the Paranormal Fantasy stories lover.
Book 1 of the Undertaker Inc series is a vampire romance read which is a spine chilling story of Tim Thompson who is the son of one of the most unbreakable and dominant dead vampire. And after being indulging in suspicious Undertaker business, he got to know numerous secrets of the vampire world and reunite with his dead family.
The book wasn't too lengthy making it a well paced book with developed characters and especially the protagonist Tim's character was explored quite fine. I personally enjoyed the thrilling and goofy plot with apt narration. The storyline also explored LGBTQ community and their relationships which came up pretty much appreciable.

I personally enjoyed the thrilling and goofy plot with apt narration. The storyline also explored LGBTQ community and their relationships which came up pretty much appreciable.

The book is set in a completely different era than the present, yet it was so enchanting the way author has described it.

A book is worth five stars if i am willing to sacrifice one of my favorite things - sleep.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. Vampires, betrayal, romance and conspiracy, my love for this book is more than what I can put into comprehensible words.
I honestly knew from the first chapter of this book that it would be something I just adored and I was soooo right.
Beginning with the writing, JC Compton has excellent rhythm as well as structure. The author brings the novel through intense action as well as simple action, but through it all, creates witty dialogues and interesting moments.

However, it is when we look back is when we get to know that it was all part of a plan and that no matter how hard we may have tried, it was bound to happen.
Undertakers Inc by author JC Compton is one such book which takes the readers on a journey that will make us introspect about many things.
At the beginning of the book, when we are initially introduced to the story, we are left wondering why so many bad things had happened with Tim.
But, the story soon unfolded and we find out that there was a reason why his family had died and that it was just the new beginnings.
An exceptionally well written story by the author, this is a book that will stay with me for a long time.

But then, a book like Undertakers Inc by author JC Compton comes out and changes the perspective.

asily one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. The author does a good job of keeping my attention (slim attention span, so few books can accomplish that), but moving the story along at a very good pace and having it make sense. There’s a constant feeling of intrigue for what will happen next, so much so that I’ve labeled this as a page turner, which I don’t say often. Plus you can tell the author has done their research very well on anything they write about. 5 stars is too low for this book!
