June. The walls were closing in around me. The plants all died. The paint dried. The kids were so bored. Getting out of bed became a chore.
August. Schools were figuring out how to start the new year. Reality settled deep in my soul. For the foreseeable future, this quarantine life would be th

Grab a coffee and sit outside. Switch creative gears for a little while. Time yourself if you tend to lose yourself in projects. I find writer's block is caused by forcing myself to follow a direction. If I am pressured into a specific direction, my mind rebels and throws up a wall of blankness. If I allow it to have it's freedom back, it doesn't typically take long for the wall to crumble and new ideas to flow. (less)

'Howl's Moving Castle', by Diana Wynne Jones. This would appease all of my aspirations. I could stay home all the time and converse with the fire in the hearth. With just a turn of a nob I could open my front door and be in a different city. Visit with whomever or go where ever I would like. Always being just minutes from home. (less)

Marcel Proust
“For a long time I used to go to bed early. Sometimes, when I had put out my candle, my eyes would close so quickly that I had not even time to say "I'm going to sleep." And half an hour later the thought that it was time to go to sleep would awaken me; I would try to put away the book which, I imagined, was still in my hands, and to blow out the light; I had been thinking all the time, while I was asleep, of what I had just been reading, but my thoughts had run into a channel of their own, until I myself seemed actually to have become the subject of my book: a”

Vladimir Nabokov
“Toska - noun /ˈtō-skə/ - Russian word roughly translated as sadness, melancholia, lugubriousness.

"No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody of something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom.”

“Let all of life be an unfettered howl. Like the crowd greeting the gladiator. Don't stop to think, don't interrupt the scream, exhale, release life's rapture.”

“Do not be angry with the rain; it simply does not know how to fall upwards.”

“The pages are still blank, but there is a miraculous feeling of the words being there, written in invisible ink and clamoring to become visible”
