Years ago, his secrets forced him to break her heart. Can love put it back together?

ICU nurse Dani Davis has it a coveted job, a great condo, a surgeon boyfriend—though admittedly, things are a little shaky with the boyfriend. None of that matters when the beloved aunt who raised her falls ill. Dani races straight home to small-town Gladewater, Texas.

She almost doesn’t recognize her first love, Levi Cooper. He’s grown up and filled out in all kinds of mouthwatering ways, but one thing hasn’t changed - The painful mystery of why he left her heart in a million tiny pieces.

Levi never planned on setting foot back in Gladewater. The family farm is getting to be too much for his aging mother, though, so he reluctantly leaves his corner-office career to take the reins. The farm comes with a thousand problems, and twice as many memories—all of them bad-except for his memories of Dani, the first love he cut loose for her own good. But when he catches sight of her red curls and flashing green eyes, he can’t help but wonder if there’s any chance to rebuild her trust—and recapture the love that never died.

▪ "Come on Dani, quit fighting us so hard. Give us a chance." ▪

A second chance small town romance which is actually the debut novel by this author! I enjoyed it, I really enjoyed it.

The writing style is relaxed to read through, it flows all together, sometimes you have that it just doesn't add up or you struggle through the writing style but that is not the case with this one.

Levi & Dani were beautifully written. Levi was Dani's first ever love and broke her heart when they were 17. Both are moving back to their hometown due to seperate circumstances. What I especially loved is that the author didn't put them straight together all lovey dovey, but there is actually some effort involved for him to get her to trust again, to let him in again. I loved how that was written and groveling always does the trick and makes my heart melt.🤭

Not only the romance is good in this book, but there is also some mystery involved why he let her go all those years ago.

Wanna try a new small town romance? Give this one a go as it will be a good comfort read! •

sweet small town romance

Danni and Levi were high school sweethearts, until he unexpectedly broke up with her with no real explanation. They both went on with their lives away from their hometown. They are both drawn back by their families and when they meet up again the spark is still there, but Danni is wary of letting Levi back in her life. I loved Danni’s friends and how they helped her. I liked how protective Levi was of his mum and understood why he broke things off with Danni. They were both strong, loyal, loving people who had never forgotten each other. This is a slow burn story which I liked as it fit with their story, with just a little bit of heat. I wish we had found out what happened after the drama at the end of the book and I would have liked to know what Danni was going to do with her life in Gladewater. I hope these things will be mentioned in the next book in the series.

Nice Debut Love Story!

Falling in love with Levi and Dani was predicted, but the twist and turns from the beginning not. I love their fights, their kisses, their love story, romance and sweetness. They definitely Collide into each other in a perfect way. Can’t wait for more about Maggie and JT stories.

Collide is the first in the Gladewater Series. Dani has moved away from Gladewater and is working as an ICU nurse but one night she gets a call and has to rush back home to her aunt's side due to serious illness. Being back in Gladewater is stirring up old feelings and Dani finds herself not wanting to leave again. While trying to settle down and start a life, she runs onto Levi, an old flame that broke her heart. Will they be able to move past it, or will their past forever get in their way?

I read the second book first and so met Dani and Levi's characters there after the events of this book and just had to go back to start the series from the beginning. This story is just full of angst, emotion, suspense, and just a few steamy scenes too!! The writing flows really well, and the character development works a treat. The chapters aren't too long and keep the reader hooked.

Would recommend!

This was such a good small town second chance romance book!

Levi broke up with Dani years ago and left her absolutely heartbroken and confused. They both move away after that and start over with new lives and careers.

Dani is working as an ICU nurse when her Uncle calls to tell her that her Aunt, who is a mother figure to her has had a stroke and says he needs her. She doesn’t hesitate to return home and help. Levi’s mom calls and begs him to come home and take over the family ranch. It is somewhat meant to be that they end up back in the same town again together at the same time after all these years.

When they run into each other they both realize they still have feelings for one another but it isn't that easy. Dani is afraid of trusting and being let down again and there is still the question of why Levi broke up with her last time. Levi has a secret and when the truth comes out it may end any chance of a relationship for them. I loved that they didn’t just see each again and instantly get back together and absolutely loved their chemistry while they work on figuring it out. I loved both Dani and Levi and was rooting for them from the start. There are some twists and turns and a few side stories that make this book hard to put down.

We also get a sneak peek at Zane and Maggie’s story which will be book 2 in this series and I cannot wait for that one!

This is a beautiful, tragic story of a second chance at first love. I love the southern charm that the characters have. There’s something about a small town romance that makes me so happy. This isn’t the happiest of stories, but the love the characters have for each other shines bright in the darkness that surrounds their lives.

I recommend this book for 18+
Minimal spice, but there’s some.

This is the debut novel from Dallas Ryan and was definitely one hell of an interesting read.

Dani and Levi have such an interesting relationship, breaking up when they were younger to then both moving back to their childhood city at the same time. So much happens in this book, that you'll definitely be turning those pages faster than you thought you could!

Secrets kept them apart, and now everything's coming to light and it's definitely worth the read!

Life was coming unraveled just as it had all been coming together.

I'm glad I could hear Dani and Levi come to life. Hearing their story from them made the experience better than I had imagined.

Collide had converted me into an audiobook lover! I usually don't listen to audiobooks, but when I saw that Collide would be an audiobook, I jumped at the chance. But, boy, am I glad I did that! It didn't matter that it had been months; moments came back to me as if it hadn't been that long.

The rating only seems lower than the initial one because I didn't have a system back then, and this time, I had some things that impacted my experience. But that does not mean that I loved it any less, by any means! Instead, just a few factors changed the experience of it.

I loved that there were two different narrators. It was not confusing, and you could tell whose point of view it was from and who was talking.

I want the other books in the Gladewater series to come out as audiobooks so I can experience that! So hopefully, that can be a thing at some point.

AUDIOBOOK RATING 2023: 🦋🦋🦋🦋 (4)

ORIGINAL RATING & REVIEW 2022: 4.5 ⭐️

It was amazing two people could live in the same city for years and not have their lives overlap.

Do you ever forget your first love?
Dani and Levi’s relationship was perfect. Or so they thought. Until something happened, and it ended. Trying to escape the hurt, they both moved on. Then, years later, life happened, and they both had to move back home. There is no such thing as coincidences. Sometimes you have to leave to find your way back home.

Collide is a second chance small-town romance. It was a nice palette cleanser. When I read something I like, I tend to fall into a hole of reading similar books repeatedly.

The relationships between Maggie and Dani; and Dani and JT was something else. I just can’t; I loved it!

Not going to lie; when I first attempted to write this review, I had put on Collide from Howie Day since it was mentioned in Collide. Yes, it took me a bit to write a full review. Life happens. But I am now finally able to.

When I finally read Collide, it was later in the day, so it took two days to read. The next day, I messaged Dallas. When I did, I was 80% into the book.

I started Collide yesterday. And I think it was a bad idea. I kept wanting to read it instead of going to bed. It kept pulling me in. I’m surprised I managed to put it down.

I was surprised to see that she posted that snippet on her account. There are different degrees of how authors interact with their readers. I don’t see authors interacting with their readers to that degree often. I had made her smile by sending that, so she posted it. This made me glad to be able to support her work. I can’t wait to read more from Dallas Ryan.

Collide by Dallas Ryan is a small town, second chance romance. We could even mix in a little forced proximity because of the small town living.

Levi and Dani were once highschool sweethearts until Levi unexpectedly broke up with her. Fast forward years later where they both have successful lives but aren't really happy in them. Both called home. Dani when her Aunt falls ill. Levi after he caves to his mother's persuasion. It's a small town so it doesn't take long for them to run into eachother.

Levi is very keen on rekindling but Dani is very wary. And in my opinion, rightfully so. She doesn't want to end up hurt again and up until this point all she knows is he broke up with her with no real reason. Through time and Levi' persistence Dani finally caves and gives him a chance. She can't keep denying the spark that is clearly still there. I love the relationship they grow to have. It's fun and carefree and they really just click deep down. In the midst of them rekindling, Levi's dark past comes knocking and he's forced in a sense to reveal to Dani the real reason for the breakup. In the end they are both able to get the closure, put the past to bed and move on to their happily ever after. I loved that it wasn't just fluffy and rainbows. They had their issues and it wasn't a perfect relationship. I also love that it wasnt solved over night but also that it wasn't dragged out. (A slight slow burn if you will). She made him work for it but also gave him a chance. I give it a solid 4 stars. It was a sweet small town, second chance romance. And you can't go wrong with those. I would have liked to see more of their life together and their future plans, but I thought the story overall was good. And maybe we will get a glimpse in the next book. Which I can't wait for. I'm excited for Zane and Maggie's story in book 2.

Dani and Levi were each others first love. But what happens when things don't work out and you get left without answers?
Dani, who is happy in her life now that's she older and has a great job and a prestigious boyfriend finds out just how strong that first love can be.
Having to go back home to be with her aunt and uncle to help take care of things she runs into Levi again for the first time in years.
Their love is one that you know is still burning and has surpassed the time they were away from each other.
Being thrown back into their small town they learn that maybe they can work through their past after all.
Heartwarming second chance romance are always my weakness and this one was no exception!

Collide is a gripping and emotional story of first loves finding their way to back to one another.

High school sweethearts have their hearts shattered after their relationship ended abruptly. Years later, they both end up back in their small town, changed and still hurting from the past. Running into each other was inevitable, and when they do, they see the sparks are still flying.

The characters are real and honest, leading to an instant connection with them. I was able to relate to them and be right there emotionally as they walked their journey together. The side characters are intriguing and leave you wanting more stories from Gladewater!

Before I start singing this book’s praises, let me tell you about the story. Dani Davis is an ICU nurse, based in Dallas, Texas. A medical emergency summons her home to Gladewater, Texas. Unbeknownst to her, Levi Cooper, her first love, has also answered the call home when his aging mother can no longer support running the family ranch. Their end had been sudden and largely unexplained, which left Dani treading in uncertain waters when Levi came back into her life. As her aunt recovers from her stroke, Levi and Dani grow closer, and the questions she’s been asking for years are answered. Some, more startling and earth-shattering than she could have ever imagined.

I want to start off this review with a few disclaimers. For starters, this book does include a few trigger warnings: child/spousal abuse and substance abuse (alcoholism). To the best of my knowledge, these triggers are not listed in the book or on any promotional sites/materials. However, if you are sensitive to these subjects (particularly child/spousal abuse), please proceed with caution.

Secondly, Collide is written from multiple character perspectives, and head-hopping (jumping from one character’s perspective to another) does happen. As a reader, I was able to keep up with the transitions between characters, however, if you are sensitive to head-hopping/have a personal dislike, it is rather prominent in the text.

Now that the disclaimers are out of the way let’s get to the good part! Collide was a stellar opening to the Gladewater Series. As soon as I finished, I actually glared at my physical TBR shelf. I was upset at the number of books I have to get through before I can “justify” moving on to the second book, Unbroken. Rest assured, the book is already living on my Kindle, just waiting for me to dive in.

Ryan’s writing style is the perfect balance of straightforward and poetic, creating a beautifully immersive reading experience. I, personally, am someone who does not enjoy head-hopping, but after a few chapters, I stopped noticing altogether and found myself sucked deeper into the story. I was caught in the riptide of falling in love with the town and the characters who inhabit it. I rooted for Dani’s Aunt, my heart hurt for Levi’s mom, and don’t even get me started on the other romances that started to bloom before our eyes.

Collide will be the perfect indulgence for any small-town romance lover. It has everything you could ask for. Second chances, just a little bit of steam, and a swoon-worthy book boyfriend who only wants to do the right thing, even if it shoots him in the foot in the end.

Collide is a sweet second-chance romance with a touch of sexy and a smidge of suspense. As an introduction to Dallas Ryan's Gladewater Series, it gives us a good look at the small town of Gladewater, Texas - a town I'm certainly looking forward to visiting again.
This first Gladewater romance brings us Dani and Levi. As I mentioned, there is a bit of suspense, but it's not hard to figure out what it is. That part of the story is really more about who the character is now and how that event shaped things between Dani and Levi. The characters are likable, even the secondary characters. At least most of them are likable. We have to have a troublemaker or two to keep things moving along. Levi and Dani have good chemistry, and they're easy to root for. The angst makes sense for the couple and the relationship. I feel like the circumstances would've given me pause as well, so it works for this story.
Narration is done by Amanda Stribling and Bradley Ford. This is my first time listening to either of these narrators, but it won't be my last. They both give great performances, and they bring out all the feels of the story. These two were very well chosen for this entertaining story. And Bradley Ford? Well, he has one of those swoony, sexy voices you can’t help but enjoy.
To sum it up, Collide is everything I look for in a small town, second chance romance, and I thoroughly enjoyed falling into this story while I went about my daily chores. I’ll leave the rest of the book’s secrets alone, so I don’t spoil anything, but suffice it to say I really like the town of Gladewater, and its inhabitants have worked their way into my heart.

Collide
The Gladewater Series, Book One
By: Dallas Ryan
Narrated by: Amanda Stribling, Bradley Ford

Talk about colliding! This is my first Dallas Ryan book, definitely not my last because I am hooked. This is a small town, second chance romance that pushes all the right buttons and I could not stop listening. Levi and Danni were high school sweethearts, only to have Danni broken hearted when dumped without explanation. Now years later, the two find themselves back in Gladewater with a spark that was never extinguished. But questions are still unanswered, and there is a big trust issue that needs to be overcome. Will Danni ever understand why Levi made the decisions he did? Will they both find happiness back in the town they left behind? This is the kind of story that is not only a good romance, but has some meat I could sink my teeth into. There is a back story that is relevant, tragic and will made my heart hurt, but left me with an understanding of how it all played out. I love stories like this, enjoyed it so much and cannot wait to get the chance to visit Gladewater again!

Amanda Stribling and Bradley Ford took me on this journey with their fabulous performances. Stribling plays Danni, and her understanding of her emotions is spot on. She gives voice to her friends and made me feel like I knew them all. Ford is new to me, and I loved how he portrayed Levi. Strong, steadfast, protective, he has a loyal and loving tone in his voice that fit exactly as I imagine Levi to sound. A great listen by amazing story tellers!

The Audiobook Really Brought This To Life!

This is book one of this series and told from dual POVs in third person. This is the first time I have read/listened to anything by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last. I’m not usually a fan of a story being in third person, but these narrators definitely gave me the “Sweet Home Alabama” vibes. They seriously sounded almost identical to Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas. I Loved it so much! They did such a great job at bringing this story to life. I was seriously hoping I would get a “so I can kiss you anytime I want.” line, sadly I didn’t but I heard it in my head.

I am a sucker for a second chance romance. I loved that after all the years past, their feelings never wavered from each other. I love that he never. Gave up trying to earn her trust back. I love that she was able to overcome everything and accept her feelings for him.

I can’t wait to read/listen to the next book in this series. There were so many little Easter eggs that hint to who the next book will be about the mystery around each character definitely have me intrigued.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book/audiobook. I am voluntarily leaving this review, these thoughts and opinions are my own.

I could not put this book down! Dani is living her life as a ICU nurse in the city while dating a wealthy surgeon. All of a sudden her Aunt's health takes a turn for the worse and she immediately comes home to Galdewater to help her aid her Aunt. Upon returning to Gladewater she is reunited with her childhood best friend Maggie and makes the decision to stay permanently in Gladewater. Dani's first love Levi is also in town wanting to start his new business. Unknowingly Dani runs into him at the grocery store and they end up reconnecting and Dani finds out why Levi broke her heart and what he was trying to protect her from.

I loved this book's plot and pace at which the events unfolded. I felt like the book flowed very smoothly. The timing of events in this book was very well planned out. The characters were all very easy for me to love. Especially Dani's best friend Maggie. Who is very caring and goes above and beyond for everyone. I loved that there was also some suspense tied in with the romance that took place in this novel. I am really looking forward to reading the second book in this series as it is about Maggie!

Dallas Ryan is a new author for me.. and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are well written and real, and this storyline is excellent.

I was caught from the first chapter! And I didn’t stop until the book was done..

Levi and Dani have history.. a history that neither of them has ever forgotten.. or gotten over. Levi decides to return to his hometown because his mother can’t handle the ranch by herself any longer. Dani returns because her aunt has a stroke and she stays because she wants to settle there. When they run into each other, they are surprised… and Levi’s certain he’s still in love with her… but Dani was devastated when Levi walked away from her when they were younger and didn’t understand.. still doesn’t understand… but she knows she doesn’t want to be hurt again.

That’s the premise for the story, but it is just so much more than this!!! It’s interesting, there’s a lot to unpack.. and I’m telling you right now.. you will love it!!!

The narrators did a great job! Amanda Stribling and Bradley Ford were a great choice and made these characters real!

Although she was only a teenager Dani was devastated when Levi ended their relationship however since then she has created a new life for herself in Dallas which includes a successful career as a nurse. All it will take is one call from the aunt and uncle who raised her needing her help for her to return but that also means facing her past.

Levi made the only choice he could at the time and after finishing college and working in finance has recently returned home to takeover the family farm. When he sees Dani again the chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever however if they are to have a future they must deal with the pain and secrets of the past.

Dani and Levi have always belonged together until they were torn apart. I enjoyed seeing them fight their way back to each other and there is a great cast of secondary characters that leave us wanting more of this series and this town. I listed to the audio version of this story and the narrators did a great job of bring out the personalities of the characters and what they were feeling.

What a sweet book!!! I am really not into romance books but I couldn't pass up the cover which is cowboy 🤠, yes please! Small town Romance has been something that I have enjoyed in the past along with cowboy so I thought I would give it a go and I was so excited I did.

This book has a lot of little town drama which is always fun too in a book and keeps you entertained. There isnt a dull moment in this book and makes me need more of Levi & Dani and the gladewater series. Plus I need to find out what happens with Maggie and Dr. Zane in the next book too.

You have Dani that has been burned from levi before but you can tell she still loves him and is upset with it. Levi just moved back to town along with dani that is helping her aunt that has become sick. Fancy that they both get back in town at the same time. Are they going to cross paths again ❤️?

This book last holds a little dark secret that Levi is holding ... You will have to read the book to find out but I promise it is worth your wild. I hope you enjoy!

A Delightful Listen!!

Dani is an ICU nurse who must return to her hometown to return the favor to the Aunt and Uncle who raised her. Aunt Lou had a stroke and needs nursing care.

Levi Cooper was Dani’s first love. Levi is also back in their hometown helping his aging mother on the family farm. Levi and Dani were making long-term plans, when he suddenly pulled away from her, ending their relationship. Lots of backstory here. Some feelings just don’t go away, even after years.

Family relationships, romantic relationships, struggles, and mysteries from the past all come to a climax as these two pursue the sparks that are still burning.
