Even when I know what I want to say in the story, sometimes my sentences come out like I'm writing "Fun With Dick and Jane." Other times, my mind's a blank and I stare at the computer screen.

To "cure" my writer's block, I totally unplug. No computer, no tablet (or phone), no television, and definitely no internet. Those emails I need to answer will have to wait. While I'm unplugged, I take a break from my writing and concentrate on something else even for a short while. Whether it's walking around the block, going to the park, or even going shopping, I clear my head and do not allow myself any access to electronic devices.

When I return to my manuscript on the computer, my writer's block usually disappears, and my ideas and words finally begin to flow. Does it work all the time? No. But it works about 90% of time for me. Give it a try! (less)
