As he struggles for survival in a disabled Corsair fighter plane in the skies over the Pacific Ocean, World War II Marine pilot David Hamilton’s life suddenly and mysteriously takes a strange turn, leaving him searching for answers as he finds himself lost and alone in a different time, place, and perhaps even identity. With no choice but to enlist the help of two young strangers, David embarks on a desperate cross-country journey in a 1941 Ford Coupe, which has its own strange past, to find his way back home and keep a promise made to the most important person in his life. As clues and stunning revelations emerge, three evil beings shadow their every mile, waiting to strike, without mercy. A unique and captivating story of love lost, and redemption found, when yesterday collides with today, and souls are stirred.

Hal Adkins has done and been a lot of things over the decades. Worked at many interesting and not-so-interesting occupations, rode motorcycles, flew airplanes, scuba-dived without actually knowing how to swim, parachuted out of a perfectly good airplane (once), and drove race cars a lot. Primarily, he has been a professional photographer, although writing has always been a keen point of interest when time allows between taking pretty pictures. A few years ago, okay, 12, he published a book of humor, some might call it more of an autobiography, aptly entitled Hal Adkins Ain’t Normal; he then set about writing his first fictional novel. After the development of that one stalled, it was decided to begin anew and so spewed forth A Week and a Day. Now, it was a very low rate of spew, taking more time to complete than getting through high school. Perhaps paying better attention in English class would have been helpful. A prolific writer of fiction, he is not and prefers the term “methodical.” The storyline for this novel developed from a couple of “I wonder what would happen if” scenarios intriguingly linked together. Following a period of consideration and procrastination, a more desirable beginning was found that moved the story into the realm of mystery and more. Hal has been very gratified and encouraged by the positive and complimentary reviews and comments received about the unique story A Week and a Day tells, and hopes to pick up the writing pace in the future as he loves to tell stories and make stuff up.
Excellent character definition, unique story line. Well written, makes you continue to read even as you have other tasks to do. And thankfully most of all, no sexual exploitation, clean language thru out---any age can read this book for enjoyment and some adventure.
Someone needs to write a really good screen play for this book.
Such a unique and captivating novel! A mix of history, romance, and family. Kept me engaged with the plot twists and turns, and had very memorable characters. Such a heartfelt well-written book with accurate history and historical events. Would 100% recommend picking up a copy!
Such an amazing story, I couldn’t stop reading it. Well written, exciting and so full of fascinating characters. I would love to see it made into a movie.
When I saw this book what immediately came to my mind was 2 movies that I absolutely love (for obviously different reasons) of THE FINAL COUNTDOWN (USS Nimitz goes back in time to WWII (Starring Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen)) and SOMEWHERE IN TIME (Starring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour) and like I give both those movies an A+ this book is 5 of 5 Stars. Also brings to my mind PEARL HARBOR (with Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Garner, Alec Baldwin, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jaime King, Tom Sizemore). Like those great films, this book great mix/blend cross-genreing (to make up my own term LOL) and especially love the inter-timenal (yep, term I coined) travel angle (I am obsessed with books/movies that deal in such). I am so glad I read it. Joseph M. The silly concept got me and I dove in-loved it. The writing was directed to a young teen mentality but rather rewarding. I enjoyed the hand touch electricity triggering an unearthly connection instead of the typical drop your underwear. The reunion was beautifully played. It should have wrapped there. I confirmed the story was wriyby a teenager when he/she resorted to the unnecessary blood and guts brawl. Still managed to pull at my sentimental heart. A very worthwhile trsf

Okay, first, so much detail about an aircraft carrier in the 40s. My dad ran a gun on a plane in the same area. Then what happens but he wakes up in the future? This book does a good job of showing confusion and frustration as well as quick thinking in a weird situation.
The story is wonderfully written, the characters are well-developed and likable. The plot is exciting and unpredictable, I felt a lot of emotions throughout. I found the ending to be particularly satisfying despite being unpredictable; it left me wanting more!
