By the time I finished the second book, it was obvious to me this guy needed to become a district attorney, which he did. In the third book, I already knew what was gonna happen, so I skipped through to the end, last two or three, which is not unusual for me. I hope my books that I write as a series aren’t so predictable....more

Certain authors nowadays who can’t seem to write one paragraph without profanity. They don’t have the ability or intelligence to use a word to "emphasize" other than F—k with frequency. What they're demonstrating is an inability/unwillingness to think clearly about what they intend to say. They take the easy way out and ruin a perfectly good story. I’ve had to skip through so much of the book because of it but missed half the story....more

Enjoyed the characters and the unique storyline as well as the way it turned out. Sounds like it’s leading into another story. However, it also closed this one, which I appreciated immensely something a few authors fail to do. I never read their other stories this author I will probably read more of hers....more

Being called Baby by a man is annoying esp. for a woman who clearly objects to being dominated
* Calling someone "baby" can be seen as infantilizing, treating them like a child who needs to be taken care of, which can be disempowering for a woman. * Lack of respect: If used without genuine affection, it can imply a lack of respect for the woman as an individual. * Power dynamic: In certain situations, if there is a significant power imbalance, "baby" can be used to assert dominance over the woman. * Affectionate use: If used within a loving, committed relationship where both are comfortable with the term, "baby" can be a sweet pet name. * Context matters: in this particular story Talon consistently called Calista “baby” and it had nothing to do with respect or affection, which is why I saw it as disrespectful or demeaning because there was a significant power imbalance, as he was asserting or attempting to assert dominance over her.
* And in this case, in the real world, the woman would’ve been offended, especially Calista who hated being dominated.
* I find it improbable this author didn’t recognize that because of the characters problem with dominance due to her former commander; it was obvious throughout the books. ...more

Once again, we have an author who seems to think the F word has to be crammed in as often as possible. I’m fairly certain the entire book could’ve gone without the use of it and still been an amazing story. I’ll never know because I didn’t bother to finish reading it. I couldn’t get past all the foul language. That alone remove three stars....more
