But it's important to remember that fictional writing allows us to journey into our own minds away from our current realities, so I remind myself each time I write to appreciate the world I'm entering and developing that is all mine. Perhaps it’s admittedly unfair of me to judge this book when I barely reached the 1/4 mark. I’ve previously read two other Dean Koontz books and I enjoyed both of them. I feel that he’s a very fine writer for his genre. However, despite the fact that ...more
Keith Steinbaum is on page 70 of 417 of The Bad Place: I’ve previously read and enjoyed two Dean Koontz books but the reason I stopped reading this one less than 1/4 of the way through is because it contains animal abuse that sickened me. There’s too many other books to read for me to move on to. Enough said.

“There will always be con artists, I know that,” Warren admitted. “But that doesn’t mean clairvoyance isn’t real.”
Keith Steinbaum

“He didn’t like the idea of leaving unfinished business behind. He had wanted definite answers about the heart attacks to be able to turn the page on who or what caused so many of his brothers to die.”
Keith Steinbaum, The Poe Consequence

“He tried to get drunk, “to forget about life for awhile,” as that old
Billy Joel song once said, but the scotch couldn't anesthetize his pain
and provide a retreat from the reality of his latest failures.”
Keith Steinbaum, The Poe Consequence
