Amazon bestselling author Susan Saxx has escaped into books since she was in kindergarten, and sees no reason to stop that nefarious activity. Only now she loves crafting tales of sass, suspense and heart that keep readers guessing--and up all night! She is well-known for her sexy, small town heroes, be they the special ops soldiers of Delta North Team, or the Men of Refuge Bay.

When she’s not writing (both male/female and male/male romance), she loves to binge-watch Netflix, exercise (within reason), dream of cottage life and endless supplies of dark chocolate. Oh, and she also caters to the whims of her feline companions--pretty much all day long.

Keep up with her on social media, here:

I haven't read the Narnia books for years, and yet, that's the first thing that popped into my head.

The real answer though is, usually, it's the book I'm currently reading. I love getting into the story worlds, and characters become very real to me. That being said, I tend to read a lot of small towns, as well as always loving Lisa Marie Rice's bodyguard books. Any of these worlds will do!(less)

What a great question!
My advice would be three-fold, and is geared to someone pursuing a career. 1. Set a time to write regularly. Daily is awesome, as the hardest thing in a new endeavor is simply to START, referring to each actual writing session. Don't think your session has to be long. 50 - 100 words is fine, if you're busy! (That could act mentally as your own teaser or cliff hanger too, and your mind will work on the next installment's content when you stop and go on with the rest of your life. And p.s. That's fun! =)
If weekly is better for your schedule, or whatever, that's fine too. Then write, and don't censor too too much.
2. Study craft while you're doing this. You'll start to apply what you learn.
3. Continue reading in the particular genre you're writing in, as well as others too.
Hope this helps! :)(less)

What do you do when…

…the only topic you want to write about, you can’t? It’s too personal, yet that’s all that flows out of your pen/fingers/yadayada?

“In a quick moment, Cole was in front of her. Simply there. He leaned in, their breath mingling. His warm lips touched hers lightly, and he kissed her.

His scent was that of the pine forest, the air and the land around them, and it dazzled her. His strength, his determination to treat her exactly the way she wanted to be treated, ever-changing as it was—dazzled her more.”
Susan Saxx, A Real Man: The First Miracle

“But the winds are stirring.
Clouds are rushing in, and darkness rides the earth.

And when the storm comes, furious, fast, and violent…
will those in its eye, when the pieces fall…

…be left standing?”
Susan Saxx, A Real Man: The First Miracle

“That warm voice, notes of vanilla and honey and heat, raced excitement up and down his spine.

Get a grip, Dawson.
He turned, and there she was. In a white shirt, rumpled,”
susan saxx

“I am looking for a lot of men who have an infinite capacity to not know what can't be done.”
Henry Ford

“The most exhausting thing in life, I have discovered, is being insincere.”
Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Gift from the Sea

“But as the sun started to rise over the hills, they were off, on the wide-open road, heading for his home. The one he somehow needed to take this tight-assed woman to, along with her scrap of a mangy cat, the one with half an ear missing.
Because if he hadn’t wrangled her into coming, somehow, this time, in a very weird, unexpected way…
…it wouldn’t have felt as much like his home. At all.”
Susan Saxx , A Real Man: The First Miracle

“He rubbed harder, and a bit of the purple came through. Finally. “Does it hurt?”

She sighed again. “Not physically, Cowboy.”
“

That’s all I needed to know.”

But his voice was gentle.
He continued, working the spot, then as the red showed through and he knew he was down to her skin, he leaned in for a warm kiss on that spot, and thought he was just about going to lose it.

Tabby. Dear Lord, Tabby Logan. He was kissing her.”
Susan Saxx, A Real Man: The First Miracle

“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”

Sandra Hi Susan,
Thanks for the friend-invite! :)

Vaishali • [V.L. Book Reviews] So lovely of you to say, thank you Susan! And of course, I'd love to share and receive some bookish insights any time you're feeling up to it 😁

Then you'd definitely know how tough it is to be a functioning human lol, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through something similar so I wish you copious amounts of spoon energy and hope this year (and your body) is much kinder to you. Interaction (even online) can be really exhausting so I completely understand.

I hope you're having a restful weekend :)

Take care and best wishes!

Susan Saxx Good morning, Vaishali!

It's lovely to hear from you too! I'm happy to interact, though after I read your profile, I just wanted to say I'm exactly the same as you with the health thing - so I know whereof you speak. I'll do my best, which is pretty up and down. =)

I hope you have a lovely day today, and the war is quiet for a while. :)

Best. Hopefully talk soon!

Vaishali • [V.L. Book Reviews] Hi Susan - just wanted to say a warm thank you for the friend request and for your message! It's lovely to meet you (and no pressure at all to interact if you don't want to; I sort of express that to filter out the people who add to solely amass a large friends list). Happy reading to you for the new year and it's lovely to be GR friends with you ☺️🎆
