As soon as I sit down in my special place at my writing time, it's like a body memory, and the ideas and the writing start to flow. Also, as soon as that music starts, I'm like Pavlov's dog, and I get right into the mood of and for that particular book with those particular characters.

I also keep a notebook handy, because ideas often come on their own and I always want to write them down. Once a flow of ideas starts, they're on a roll for a while! LOL. And there is a day here and there where I'm just not "feeling it," as they say, and, after putting in some "seat of the pants to the seat of the chair" time, I go do something else.(less)

Know any random people? No, me either.

You’ll find me in my car—a lot. I listen to NPR—a lot. So, I heard one particular fundraising ad. Yep—a lot.

Certainly the woman must’ve meant well when she said she wanted her old car to go to the local public radio station and not to some random person. But it really struck my heart. Some random person? I’ve never met one, not once in my life. Everyone we pass in the supermarket, on the highway,
