Though the Others had scorned him for years, as the white winter closed in, Ben had saved them all.
For a time, things go well at the Place, but snowbound, the Others grow restless. And Artie is beginning to have a bad feeling. Were they followed to the Place? What is happening to Turk? Why is Sylvie so frightened? Can Ben find a way to take the Others home?
With spring and snowmelt comes freedom and a desperate plea. Can Artie and Ben survive a perilous journey to rescue one of their own?
I grew up in Ketchum, Idaho, enchanted by wildflowers and the small lives of wild things, taught to flyfish by my father, a master. After college, I married and among other things, worked as a scientific illustrator, a field research technician, a golf-cart mechanic, a high-school teacher, a college instructor, co-leader of college field biology expeditions, and for years was the biologist for the Idaho Army National Guard, ending up as Natural and Cultural Resources Manager for the State of Idaho Military division. But titles don’t tell much. Here are some of the things that made up my life: watching clownfish lay eggs on the Great Barrier Reef; documenting a species of intertidal ants in Mexico; planting thousands of acres of native plants after wildfires; discovering a predatory new species of fairy shrimp; watching arctic foxes and their kits foraging along the Arctic Sea; discovering the life cycle of a rare white flower; learning the mountains and hills, the deserts and canyons of the West. And writing. Always writing.
The highlight of this book is finding out who was responsible for this 'event'. I think we must all remember our country was born wanting certain freedoms. Mess with that and we will fight.
in the beginning, Arti, Tim and Ben were socially awkward, outcast high schoolers. It was great how they were able to adapt to a stressful situation without too much drama. A Shout out to Turk and Lainey for playing the bad guys to perfection.
Enjoyed the conclusion of Scavenger. Glad I took a chance on reading a YA series. Very entertaining.
