Daniel was born in San Angelo, Texas and raised in the oilfields of Odessa in far west Texas. After graduating from the infamous Permian High School, Daniel served his stint in the US Navy and received an Honorable discharge. He then attended Texas Tech University with studies centering around mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, metallurgy, and business.
Daniel, his father, and his older brother started a fabrication facility in Odessa specializing in the manufacture of specialty equipment for the oil and gas separation and treatment for oil and gas products. The company later expanded into other markets requiring unique equipment for high pressures and high heat.

Daniel managed the engineering department for mechanical, electrical, purchasing, and quality control, while his father and brother managed the manufacturing processes. Due to the downturn of the oil and gas industry in 1986, the company was forced to close.
Daniel started a compliance inspection company in 1990 furnishing qualified specialty inspection and engineering personnel. The company was very successful.
Daniel expanded the company to cover overseas and foreign projects and staffed many projects in 19 countries.
In 1995, Daniel expanded the company again into inspection using drones (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) which was again a successful venture. The program was expanded to include Infrared cameras to detect fugitive emissions, pipelines, equipment mechanical maintenance, and even flying the drones for some of the fire fighters to detect “hot spots” on buildings roofs that the firefighters may fall through.
Daniel has spent the last forty-five years managing his companies and writing technical documents that centered around oil and gas, chemical, power generation, and specialty gas plant construction and industrial equipment inspection/testing. In 2022, he sold his companies and retired and began writing short stories and novels.
Daniel Harry is the author of the Jesus Ring, Shadows, and Ramblings of an Old Poot. Daniel Harry lives in Port Lavaca, Texas with his wife, Cathy. Daniel has authored many humorous short stories and has two new novels that will be released in late 2024.
Daniel is a Navy veteran and supporter of many military veteran programs.
Daniel’s interests are writing, fishing, prospecting for gold/platinum, rockhounding, making fine jewelry, and inventing stuff that will never sell.
