Lauricia Matuska grew up in Roswell, New Mexico but graduated high school and moved to college one year before the city’s alien visitations became public knowledge. An ardent adorer of the stars, stationary, and scones, Lauricia writes captivating fantasy that ignites the imaginations of YA and adult readers, alike. Her debut novel, The Healer’s Rune, is a 2017 Carol Award finalist. The only time I'm truly "blocked" is when something in the story isn't working as I hoped/planned. Otherwise I'm usually not blocked, just lazy.

When I am truly blocked, I divide my available time between reading stories in my favorite genre that I know are well written and reading how-to books about writing, especially about plotting. I also spend a lot of time brainstorming on paper: clustering, writing questions and answers in a flow-chart style, and drawing different plot diagram possibilities are my go-to techniques.(less)

An excellent classic. Fantastic example of a well-plotted epic romance, old-school style. Would totally read again.

Henry David Thoreau
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms...”
