Where were you born, and what was your childhood like?
I was born in Ontario but have lived my entire life in Alberta, Canada. I had an amazing childhood.
Who introduced you to the world of books? My parents were the ones who introduced me to books and the love of reading. My mother especially has been a lifelong learner and has been a huge inspiration to me with all of my endeavors.
At what age did you begin writing your first story? What was it about?I started writing books in my 30's. I did that because I wanted another platform to share stories from all the amazing women that I had on my podcast. The first anthology I wrote was on women in business as a way to inspire other women that might not have had the courage to be all they could be.
What do you enjoy the most about connecting with goal-oriented women?I love the energy, the passion and sisterhood I feel when I am around similar women.
How has your family inspired and supported your dream to write? The reason I started the Divas That Care Network was because of my 4 daughters. I wanted somewhere to keep track of amazing women I met over the years, so that they could be inspired like I was. From that I wanted to show my girls that they can make a difference in the world too.
What kind of impression do you hope your books will leave?I hope that people will take these books, read them, and to know that they are not alone. That others have been there and there are so many people that want to help.
What inspired you to write the book, Young Divas That Care?I had the opportunity to interview some extraordinary women making a huge impact not only in their communities, but on a global scale and people didn't know about them. In a world that shines a light on celebrities, I wanted to shine a light on the young women that are truly making a difference.
How many books do you plan to write in the "A Divas That Care Book" series? There are many different topics that are talked about on the Divas That Care Networks Podcasts, so I want to have just as many books about them, as we have guests that chat about them.
What sparked the idea for your book, Animal Prints on My Soul?My love of animals and listening to the extraordinary stories of other animal lovers. Animals bring a smile to our faces even when we don't think we have anything to smile about.
What does a typical day in the life of Candace Gish look like?My life is one amazing ball of chaos. As a mother of 4 daughters that I have been homeschooling, my days are never the same. There is always something happening with them and all their individual activities. I also have 3 businesses that I run, animals to look after and a huge garden.
What is the one piece of advice you would like to give to young writers in the world?Just keep Swimming! Life has so many ups and downs, you sometimes feel that nobody understands what you are doing, but know this, many others have been there and will be in your corner. Don't give up.
What are you currently working on? May we know when we can expect a new book?I am working on an anthology about Mothers and Daughters. My hope is to release it as soon as I can.
