October 7, 2020

I wrote this newsletter yesterday. This morning I woke up and learned that guitarist Eddie Van Halen passed away. Eddie was the reason that I took up guitar. He was also the reason I didn't become a rock star. Really, who can compete with a talent like that. He was an innovator, pushing the boundaries that guitarists before him had seemed to set. If you have never heard of Eddie, or his playing, give a listen to his groundbreaking solo, Eruption.

Tell me that isn't frickin' awesome...

The Knot at the End of the Rope: Published!

The Knot at the End of the Rope is now available for pre-sale on Kindle:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KP9RSYG
or now, in paperback: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KGHH4HH

I had to unpublish the last version because the wrong paper was selected, but it's all good now. I hope that you had a chance to read the short samples of the stories and I look forward to hearing your reviews of the whole book!

My "fun" experience with Amazon publishing led me to this week's blog:
The Ins and Outs of KDP

I have my short story, Reasonable Hand-drawn Facsimile, posted on my website and on Medium.com. I submitted it to the online magazine Writers and Readers, and it is included in the current issue. This is the second time I have been published by them. The first time was my poem, If(The Refugee).

If (The Refugee)

If I stay home
     I will starve
If I remain where I grew up
     I will be poor
If I linger where my roots are
     violence will take me
If I refuse to leave
I will be forced to do
           dreadful things
If I knock on your door
It’s not because I want to
It’s because
     I want to live

StoryOrigin Feature: Still going on.

Since last week we added more free samples to check out! There are 23 different books from 19 different authors now. When I started the campaign, I didn't expect that many, so I'm pleased. I would be interested in hearing your feedback if you visited or used it.

The Birds are Back in Town (for my mom)

It didn't take long for "my" birds to enjoy the comforts on indoors. That's my end table. Sometimes they will perch on the couch arm or coffee table and chirp at me if there are no seeds. Who trained who?

Inktober:

Every day in October, a word is given and people draw a picture based on that word. I decided to do something funny (of course you did).

That's all for this week. Thank you for hanging out with me. Don't forget to tell your friends about Lines by Leon or take the survey:

Lines by Leon: The Survey   (it only takes a few minutes)

Cheers, be safe, and take care.
