I had the pleasure of reading this as a beta reader and I can honestly say, I'm so intrigued by this story and all its characters, that it's put a delay in my own writing. I've gotten so wrapped up in Brynn's world and the potential for the next book in the series, I seriously can't focus. LOL

This novella is the prequel to the series that will feature the warriors of The Nine, and if you guys have visited Brynn's website, then you'll know that these warriors are indeed badass!! I can't wait to meet them all!!!

Entasy is focused around Kylah and who she thinks she is...who she really is...and the journey to get back to the life she was forced to forget. I LOVE Kylah. She's funny, full of life, and once she faces her past and embraces her destiny, I think she's going to be a force to be reckoned with. Aerric is just downright yummy, and while I love him and can't wait to see their story take shape, the character that I'm completely drawn to is Obsydian (aka Syd.) He is delicious-and in more ways than just the physical. I love his personality. He's fierce yet gentle, and I cannot wait to see the role he plays in Kylah's past and future.

I gave Entasy five stars because of the great world building that Brynn achieved with her detailed writing style. I could literally see the images as though I was watching a movie. The characters emotions are real and I was quickly drawn into their world.

To say I'm excited to see this series unfold is an understatement. I can't wait to be further drawn into a world of Celtic myth and magic through these amazing characters.

WOW.. just wow. Where to even begin? I was lucky enough to read the ARC copy of this book and I am so beyond elated that I can barely contain it. This has got to be one of the most promising starts to a UF series in a very long time!!

Now let me harness all of my squeeing energy into a coherent review, or at least try. If I start over-abusing the exclamation marks then you've been warned (and cut a girl some slack.)

This is a very quick paced novella about Kylah Keenan, who's secretly granddaughter to two major Celtic goddesses, Morrigan and Brighid. She isn't aware of her true status because of a spell cast by her own grandmothers to protect her from her memories, memories of a tragedy that happened to her two centuries ago and that left deep, potentially crippling wounds still left to heal. Going into the tragedy itself will be spoiling it for you, but suffice it to say that in this world, there are all types of creatures, and the Fae play a big role. The leader of the Sluagh, the spirits of the restless dead, so evil that they are unable to enter either heaven or hell, is half Seelie and half Unseelie and one malevolent bastard. He was responsible for this tragedy and promises to be an effective villain in the future. He has done unspeakable things to Kylah and is now on the search for his precious treasure, as he calls her. He is one twisted creepy character and this just had me rooting for Kylah more.

She has been living in the real world (NYC) thinking she is nothing but a human with Irish roots and a couple of overprotective brothers, owners of an Irish Pub called Keenan's. Imagine her surprise when all hell breaks loose around her, weird ass men start following her and she's finally confronted with all sorts of nightmares she can't make sense of? They all seem real, but are they? Or is she just losing her mind?

I loved this book because it introduces such a rich world full of all types of characters. Here you'll find not just Fae, but there are mentions of vampires, ghosts, goddesses, werewolves, dragon Phoenixes and more. The author uses Celtic mythology so effectively it reminds me a bit of how Sherrilyn Kenyon uses Greek mythology in the Dark Hunter series. Incidentally, Kylah must also eventually confront the fact that her true self is indeed mated, and who she is mated to, I won't spoil, but he's one heck of a male charry with all the right traces of possesiveness and protectiveness we all love.

Entasy is so full of action you'll have to hold on to your seat, but with the introduction of Kylah's preternatural mate, readers can also indulge in some hot romance so this story does have it all. I particularly liked the secondary characters, who just as Kylah, are brought to life with a dash of humour and very interesting personalities (I found her mob princess neighbor, Olivia to be a hoot and her best friend and sister in law Vivi to be a very endearing character)

Brinn Myers also surprises us with a very unusual ending that you just have to hold on for, because it's worth every word. I am amazed at this new writer's creative potential. This is just a sequel to a whole series devoted to the Naio (or Nine) supernatural protectors of the human race against the Sluagh, all chosen for a specific skill. I couldn't be more excited, as Obsidyan, (Syd) is actually one of my fave characters introduced here (he is one of the aforementioned Naio). He becomes Kylah's friend and the charm exuded from him just had me jonesing for more.

Overall a very entertaining, fast forwarding prequel that promises much more excitement to come. One of the most promising up-coming Urban Fantasy series. The cover is absolutely marvelous by the way and contains the flavor of the story very well. Can't wait for the next installment, which comes out January next year from what the author said on the ARC.

I was fortunate enough to receive Entasy to review for part of the Blog Tour! And just want to say Thank you to Brynn Myers for allowing me to have this opportunity to review this book.

Okay lets dive right into the review!

A bit about Entasy by Brynn Myers, Entasy is a prequel to the upcoming books in the “Prophecies of The Nine” series, Entasy focuses on Kylah's story and her coming to realize that the person she thought she was isn’t who she truly is at all, and as her memories return and who she is underneath begins to surface, the Nine come together to help and protect her.

I love Kylah's character she is very independent and strong and I can see her growing even stronger, I found her attitude and personality very easy to connect to, and I cant wait to see what potential lies beneath the surface. And Aerric, just wow, may I say I am soooo jealous! Talk about devotion after so many years he is still devoted to his only one true love, his attitude and overall personality is just yummy, yes I said yummy, but then again so is Obsydian aka Syd I have to say I am in love with these two men, I absolutely adore, no wait…. Love, yes I love Obsydian personality and just the way he talks, SWOON!

Now to say that I am looking forward to the series would not be enough, I am not only looking forward to it, but this series has been added to my special TBR list, where all the books that are coming out in my favorite series are listed, this list also includes the books that I cant break away from...Yes, I am truly ecstatic about this series, I have always been interested in different mythologies about Gods and Goddess's and it is because of how Entasy intertwines the Celtic mythology that I found this instantly intriguing. I cannot wait to see how the series unfolds and if you haven’t read or heard about this series, I suggest you look into it right away and be sure to add this book to your “To Be Read” lists as soon as possible!

This is a book that will have you hooked and unable to put down, I can honestly say that I am going to be so sad when the series ends, but thankfully that won’t be any time soon! This is a series to truly enjoy, you know those books you just can’t put down but you don’t want it to finish so soon, yes, this is one of them. I would recommend this to those who find themselves interested in books about magic, Celtic mythology, action, suspense and of course, love. Be ready to dive into the world of The Nine and their stories. 5/5 Crescents

WOW, this prequel/novella has everything that I craved for: action, suspense, mysterious creatures, Celtic legends and myths, sadist bad guy, wonderful and kick-ass female character and of course a bunch of super sexy, yummy, handsome, supernatural hotness! This story was overwhelming and I loved it!

Kylah is having some strange dreams lately filled with awful creatures. She doesn't really give a second though until she meets someone as weird as the creature from her dream. Then, her brothers begin to act like a psycho and force her to have a ''bodyguard'' to keep her safe. Syd is probably the sexiest bodyguard that Kylah has ever met and agree to be guarded. But Hallows Eve is getting closer and more Waco/weirdo things happened around Kylah, not to mention her encounter with the mysterious and enigmatic Aerric. But Kylah is far from the girl next door: her memories have been removed and changed! She possesses unimaginable powers and she's a direct descendant of Celtic Gods!
Looming in the dark, the creature that’s responsible for her condition will attempt everything to have her back!

I had a little crush on Aerric, since he's Kylah's mate and most of all because he thought she was dead long ago. The scene of their reunion was delicious and magic; I can't wait to read the nest book to know more about them as a couple! I give it my sexy couple!

Kylah was an interesting character: I liked her ''human'' past and enjoyed even more her ''real'' story as the granddaughter of the Celtic Goddesses! She seems to be an epic and grandiose woman back then! Brynn Myers stirred something deep inside of me with her delectable imagination. The scenes were well written and the descriptions were fantastic (Love steamy scenes!), I even dream about this book! Yep thank you Aerric! I give you my cotton candy love!

There’s only one thing that bother me a little: the changing POV from a character to another wasn't easy to discern. Sometimes I had to read a few lines before I could distinguish who was talking/thinking. But that little ''bad note'' didn't slacken my reading and/or enjoyment for this story!
This book is a must read! I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting! If you are in love with Celtic mythology, paranormal creatures, strong heroine and sexy men, this book is for you! Buy, borrow, put on your TBR pile: do something! :P

What I would first suggest to all of my lovely readers would be to venture on over to Brynn Myer’s website  http://www.brynnmyers.com/ and check out the upcoming Prophecies of the Nine Series to understand a little bit more of Kylah’s world. The following quote is taken directly from the website speaking about this upcoming series, “The Prophecies of The Nine is a breathtaking urban fantasy series featuring the warriors of The Nine, a unique band of fighters all chosen for their individual talents. Their job is to protect the innocent souls and punish those who wish to enslave the human world as well as the supernatural. The leader of the Sluagh has waged a war with the goddesses and now both sides will stop at nothing to exact their vengeance. Get ready to fall into a story of love, fire and passion as these warriors fight to save everything and everyone they love.” Entasy is the prequel novella.

Brynn Myers writes a story about a girl who has a past deeper than the Grand Canyon and a future that is as bright as the rising sun. Kylah, the main character, is the granddaughter of not one, but two Celtic Goddesses. I mean, seriously, how awesome is that? Her world is partly “human” and largely mythical, but the sad part is that all she can remember is the human side. Brynn’s world building skills are out of this world; with so many characters and relationships among them, this book is phenomenal for its intertwining realms, characters, and themes.

Kylah, as stated before, has a powerful destiny ahead of her and there are many people (supernatural ones, of course) who would like nothing more than to stop her! I believe that she is going to develop into an incredible heroine as the series progresses and Brynn shares more with us about her fated path. Kylah proved to be a stand up character in this prequel novel, however, she can definitely take charge and stand up for herself and she often proved that with her two domineering brothers. I loved their family bond and the brother’s unfailing need to protect Kylah from all harm. They, of course, know Kylah’s destiny and what it holds so they stop at nothing to keep her safe.

My favorite aspect of this story was the intertwined Celtic mythology and the way that Kylah’s world would spin from human to supernatural in the blink of an eye. I am hoping that we see and hear more from both of her grandmothers, Morrigan and Brighid, which are Goddesses, in later books. I am very intrigued by their story. Kylah is going to prove to be a very powerful Goddess too, I feel. Her grandmothers of spoken of as very powerful deities and it gives me chills as to what the future holds for Kylah. If you have not heard of Entasy then I strongly urge you to check out this fast, exciting read.

This is the first book of Brynn Myers I have read and I have to say, I was enchanted from the beginning.

Kylah has been having terrible nightmares that leave her exhausted. So when she sees something that she can't even fathom is real, she is thrown into a world that she was hidden from for her safety. What I loved best about Kylah was her spunk. Being a good ole Irish girl will give you that in spades but I fell in love with her myself. She understood that her brothers are overprotective and it is irrational for her to have a bodyguard all the time but she doesn't fight it because she knows they have good intentions. Of course, when she gets Syd as a bodyguard, she can't complain when this charming, attractive man makes her feel so comfortable and gives her compliments she has never heard.

Everything is shot to hell when she is attacked by the person who imprisoned her before and ultimately changed her life. She discovers her world isn't what it is seems. She quickly discovers that her family are gods who took her memories away from her for her own well being. Kylah also discovers a mysterious stranger, Aerric, who she can't help but feel completely safe with and discovers that she is his in her previous life. And let me tell you, the way Aerric is described in the book, I want me a piece of that!

This really was an addicting book that I read in less than a day (Which is a feat for me with three children underfoot. Lol.) and ignored the housework. I have a soft spot for Irish characters being that part of my family immigrated from there. To me, the men are sexy as sin and the females are tough to boot. I can definitely say though that at the end of the book it had me saying, "What? That's it? No! I need to know what happens next!" Lol. I am hoping that the next book gives Kylah's brother Dillon his chance at a HEA or even the delicious Syd. January 2013 can't come fast enough!!!

Let me start by saying when I finished this book, I sat there in stunned silence, running on a serious book high. Its not often I'm left speechless and the only coherent thought and sentence I could form was "HOLY S**T!!!"

Lets do this review a little different shall we?

Fast Paced - CHECK! I felt like I flew through the pages of this novella.

Enticing and Alluring - CHECK! I was on the edge of my seat through every page.

Great World Building - CHECK! Brynn must have a vault of ideas for this world in her head and she put in on the page beautifully. I felt I was able to dive right into it no problem.

Character Development - CHECK!!! I couldn't help but feel with these characters through every thing they went through. Yes we met a lot of characters BUT I didn't feel lost and I felt I got just enough about each character in so few pages that I already have my favorites and want their books and their happily ever afters NOW!!! Not to mention we get a mix of supernatural species which is always fun to see.

Heat - CHECK!! Very passionate!!!

I love when authors write a prequel to a series and set it up the way Brynn did in Entasy. In only a few short pages she had me begging for more. That's talent! The very last chapter I was shaking reading it, it left me stunned in the most enchanting way that I had to start the next book that very second.

I can see this series going for the long haul and that has me jumping for joy and screaming MORE!!!

This is a brilliant beginning to what seems to be an amazing Celtic series. I immediately fell in love with a few of the characters, while having a complete hatred of one in particular. It is the perfect story! Being able to sympathize and relate to the main character was easy since the author so skillfully wove a tale so intense that you couldn't help but want to be in it. I enjoyed following Kylah throughout her trials and tribulations and watching her grow into her new role in life. This action packed story is a great start to the series and I can't wait to see what the author comes up with in the next installment :)

Entasy is a prequel to Brynn Meyer’s forthcoming adult fantasy novel Redemption, and although it’s probably not something I’d normally pick up unprompted, Brynn sent me a copy to see if I’d like her writing because I’d expressed an interest in Redemption. This is my honest review.

Entasy takes place in modern-day New York, with our heroine, Kylah, a Broadway costume designer, struggling against the overwhelming control and protection her two elder brother have placer her under. She doesn’t ask why they are so protective, that’s just the way they are, ever since their parents died some years before. Kylah starts dreaming about a sexy man and during her waking hours realises she’s being followed, so her brother’s overprotectiveness comes in use when they assign her a bodyguard, some shenanigans happen (not with the bodyguard, although he sure was a sweet heart) and then Kylah’s memories are given back to her to reveal that TAH-DAH! She’s actually a goddess.

This book takes an unnecessary turn at the point of view of two other characters, both of which I found superfluous. The ‘big’ secrets they revealed could have easily been incorporated into Kylah’s point of view. We only get one chapter from one point of view anyway, so it seemed like a waste. I think it would have been better to stick to Kylah’s point of view, also considering it’s a novella.

I liked Kylah – mostly. She reacted weirdly to dangerous situations… like WALKING RIGHT INTO THEM. La di dah. And then NOT telling people when Big Deal Shit Happened. I get that it helps plot but I still find it frustrating when characters do that! I really liked the contemporary parts of the book, but when the supernatural parts came into play the writing style seemed to change and get choppy and rushed. It may have been intentional, because Kylah’s pretty screwed up anyway, and her emotions get the best of her thinking logically, but I personally prefer a smoother writing style. It’s not enough to turn me off Redemption, though.

At the end of the novella I wasn’t entirely satisfied. I understand that Kylah’s memories were taken to protect her, but exactly how it would protect her wasn’t explained to me. She already seemed pretty kick-arse to me and I didn’t really like seeing her treated the way the other characters treated her: like a broken little girl, not an immortal woman. I was also very confused that a twenty-eight (I think, I didn’t make a note of her age) year old had been in hiding for two hundred years. Was it a Groundhog Day kind of existence, when she got a particular age it reset itself? Did she stay in her twenties for the whole two hundred years? And if so, how did she not notice herself not ageing? So yeah, that part confused me.

However I did enjoy Kylah’s unveiling, and I look forward to her being kick arse, destructive and passionate in Redemption. Aerric, though his part was very small, seemed to feel very deeply for her and I look forward to seeing more of their relationship.

A review copy was kindly provided by the author.

Full disclaimer: I am Goodreads friends with Brynn but this did not influence my rating.

It is great to re-read a book and then get new perspective on it and I am still blown away the second time I read this. Full of action and steamy hot moments with her dream man Kylah is struggling with secrets yet to be revealed. I devoured this short novella and I am now diving into the the second book in this series, can't wait to read it.

Where has this gem of a story been hiding, I wish it was January already so I can read the next book. Kylah is just your average costume designer with over-protective brothers who are Irish and own a bar or is she? Kylah has been having disturbing dreams of late of monsters with claws and things chasing her. Liam of the dark fae is in pursuit as he has been searching for her for a long time and is getting closer now to finding her. Her dreams are visions and a warning but she does not know who she really is. Due to seeing her parents death and suffering unspeakable torture, Kylah has had her memories changed so she does not know she is a Goddess but that will all change once she witnesses the death of her brother. Aerric has only just found her again, his one true mate and never knew she was alive as the knowledge was hidden from him. I felt sorry for him as he loved her dearly and to keep her from him was cruel and he will not let anything happen to her now that he has her in his arms again. He is pretty hot and sexy so I can understand why Kylah feels so drawn to him in her dreams and then realises that he is real and her true mate. Now Kylah needs to remember who she is and take control of her destiny before it is too late.

Kylah is a goddess but after the tragic death of her parents, the gods believed it better to suppress those memories and in order to keep her safe. Kylah believes herself and brothers to be normal humans. But her missing knowledge may be her down fall. When her parent’s killer finds her, he sends his minions out to retrieve her. If she doesn't remember who she is and embrace her destiny all might be lost.

The story line was unique and intriguing. I enjoyed the plot and character building. The world that is created in Entasy is amazingly detailed and very entertaining. I wanted to know more about the world, the more I read.

I loved Aerric he is all old school sexy alpha male. I loved how protective he was over Kylah , even when she didn't remember him. Both the O'Cianain brothers are fun, sexy and all around yummy.

The overall story was good and interesting, I just had a hard time following. The story was not smooth. It did not transition from one point of view to the other very easily. I felt some of the vital information I needed for the story was left out so I was confused at some parts, but the glossary at the back helped with that some. I am assuming the next one in the story will explain even more. I did enjoy the story and I will most definitely be reading the next installment.

I saw the cover and was intrigued, I read the blurb, and when I saw the references to Ireland and Irish myths... I just knew I had to read it!

Kylah is an Irish girl, living in New York with her protective brothers since her parents died. But that is not really who or what Kylah really is... and finding out everything about herself because of the Halloween costume she made for herself will put her in a danger she would have never expected.

This book is the introduction to the Prophecies of the Nine series, and with all the references to Irish mythology, a strong redhead female as lead character and a frankly enticing guy as romantic interest... this book has really piqued my interest for the series, and I just can't wait till the next book comes out!

“Entasy” is a fantastic read. In the beginning I was a little unsure, but once I got into it I could not put it down; I am hooked! Kylah memories have been hidden from her but for her own safety. When events happen that cause her to watch someone she love taken away from her, she has to accept who she is if she has any chance of protecting those she love. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a great paranormal read and I look forward to read the next book in the series; “Redemption.” This is the first book I have read from author Brynn Myers but if this book is any indication of what’s in store I believe I have another favorite author.

I called my sister and said "I'm bored send me something to read." She picked the perfect book. When I started reading it I was a little thrown off by reading multiple characters in first person but once I got use to that it turned out to be a awesome little book.

Kylah has attitude, opinions, and secrets she doesn't even know yet. Liam's tidbits were the perfect introduction to a villain. Aerric made a minor appearance and I just wanted more of the story by the end of the book. The ending was fantastic as a prequel it did it's job. I have to get the series now because I must know what happens.

And I absolutely have to know Syd's story.

Well done Mrs. Myers.

I liked this book. It took me a bit to catch on to the dream in the beginning so I was a little confused for a bit. But after that things moved better. I will read the second book. I happen to really enjoy books with Gods and Goddesses and know a little about The Morrigan and Brighid. So it is even better since they are the Goddesses in this book. I think that this will be an enjoyable series.

This book was extremely intriguing. I loved the concept and how the story leaves you wanting to start reading the next book. I cannot even wait until Redemption comes out. And I can't wait to see how Kylah and Aerric's story will play out. But I do hope they get their happily ever after! January 2013, please come sooner!

WOW! Where do I being? I absolutely loved this book! From start to finish I was wrapped up in the book, it felt like I was literally there experiencing what Kylah was, seeing things through her eyes. I can not wait for the next book to come out and I HIGHLY recommend this book!

This actually merits 2.5 STARS rather than 3 but I thought I’d be nice and round up instead of down.

First off, let me just say, I LIKE THE CONCEPT for this book even if the review that follows seems very negative. I merely mean the following review as constructive criticism albeit in an extreme sense.

The plot has potential. It’s very intriguing and unique. The idea of using Celtic mythology as the foundation for a story was what captured my attention in the first place. But, the plot is lacking in construction, depth and sometimes focus. The story construction is rudimentary. At times, there are too many characters in the same scene and it becomes confusing trying to sort out who said or did what and WHEN THE HELL DID THEY ENTER THE SCENE? The multiple POVs also causes some frustration. It’s not difficult to follow but it makes for some AWKWARD transitions from character to character or scene to scene.

The story is a little REPETETIVE. Kylah’s destiny is mentioned a few times but without an explanation other than that one day she will be able to ferry souls to the gate (instead of the souls being a feast for evil). What does that mean for her? If her powers are so important to the future, why were the Goddesses, Brighid and Morrigan, willing to risk the present and the past two hundred years by suppressing her memories? Will the author even address the repercussions of Goddess’s actions?

The love story is RUSHED. The only explanation the reader gets for Kylah and Aerric’s connection is that they were mates two centuries ago. Apparently, they are still mates and it’s irrelevant that Kylah’s memories have been suppressed for the past two hundred years. They just hook up as if they’d never been separated which is lovely but not at all realistic. It sort of comes off as a lame one night stand rather than an intense love that surpasses time and space.

The ring that Liam left for Kylah to find is another mysterious question in the book. The meaning of the ring is not explained yet when Brighid and Morrigan see it, their reaction is shock. But, why are they shocked? Well, that’s anyone’s guess. The Goddesses don’t confiscate the ring so does that mean the ring is just a message or a threat? The ring must not be malevolent in the magic department or I would assume it would have been destroyed or taken for safe keeping. SO, what does this mysterious piece of jewelry represent? NO IDEA. The book has more questions than answers. I don’t mind having to wait for answers but this book is almost HAPHAZARDLY PUTTING FORTH TOO MANY WITHOUT GIVING ANY HINT OF WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON.

The use of the Gaelic language, while beautiful and unique to the story, also poses an obstacle as it is a difficult language to read and pronounce. Overuse could cause a reader some frustration and possible disinterest. Though, the glossary at the back of the novella is HELPFUL.

The characters:

Kylah has the potential to be a badass if she’s given the chance. Her attitude suggests a very strong personality most of the time. I find her reunion with Aerric questionable whether they are mates or not. I don’t have a problem with them being together, I just think it should have been a more structured reunion. But, back to Kylah as a character, she has fire both figuratively and literally. She’s smart and sassy with a good heart. Her reactions or lack thereof to what has happened to her are a little concerning. IT’S NOT REALISTIC TO JUST ACCEPT THE MAGIC OF AN ENTIRE WORLD WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN HIDDEN FROM IT FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS. That flaw aside, Kylah has the makings of a great heroine if written correctly.

Aerric is a generic love struck hero, his character is fairly flat and 2-dimensional. He needs more substance before he can be an amazing love interest. It’s not that he’s unlikable but rather that there is not much to him. JURY IS OUT ON WHETHER OR NOT HE WILL BECOME A MORE DEFINED CHARACTER.

Dillon will possibly be a favorite character later. Again, not a lot of information on Dillon but I love the protective brother aspect so he gets points for that automatically. The only thing the reader knows about Dillon is that he is exceedingly overprotective and seems to be the head of his family as far as organizing Kylah’s protection.

Liam will likely be the villain a reader will PASSIONATELY HATE! This will not be normal hatred but rather the NAUSEATING-RED FLARING ANGER- I NEED TO HIT/STRANGLE SOMETHING- I CANNOT STAND YOU IN MY IMAGINATION EVEN THOUGH YOU’RE VITAL TO THE STORY kind of hatred! The reader is given enough information about what Liam had done to Kylah in the past before her memory was suppressed that LOATHING AND DETESTING HIM IS AN INSTANT REACTION.

So, as my GRAND FINALE I will simply state that as a debut novella, it’s not awful but it is lacking the distinguishing characteristics of more refined work. The concept is unique enough that if polished, focused and better explained, it could be a great series.

Captivating prequel to Brynn’s rich Celtic myth and magic urban fantasy series!

“To some, you are a way to the light and to others you will be their true destruction.”

All of Brynn Myers’ books have been on my want-to-read list ever since I met her at the Coastal Magic Convention last February. She originally came to my attention when she was one of the brilliantly funny panelists on a highly entertaining panel. I still laugh when I think of the hijinks that took place in that panel! Shortly after the convention, I read and was blown away by Brynn’s Jorja Graham series.

Now, I’ve dived into her Prophecies of the Nine series with Entasy. It’s a rich, uniquely original Celtic myth and magic urban fantasy series. Brynn has shared that there will be five total books in this series including Entasy. Entasy is the fast-paced prequel to the series and introduces the characters and the deep-rooted conflict. I’d highly recommend that you start the series by reading it.

This story is told from multiple points of view and it took me a few chapters to get into the groove with it. Once I did, I was in – hook, line and sinker. In hindsight, I should have realized that I was reading from different POVs as the character’s name is displayed right under the chapter number. Duh!

Also, be aware that there’s much detailed word building with a lot to take in at first. While reading, I kept wishing for a glossary of some sorts. Well, lo and behold, there’s a very useful one at the end of the book!

Entasy focuses on Kylah’s story. She is a goddess, but, when the story opens, she is unaware of her lineage because her grandmothers – Celtic goddesses, Morrigan and Brighid - erased her memories to keep her safe and sane. Kylah believes that she and her siblings are normal humans. She has a successful career as a costume designer and her brothers run Keenan’s, a thriving Irish pub in New York City. However, all might be lost when her parents’ killer finds Kylah, if she doesn’t quickly embrace her destiny.

I thought Kylah was a great heroine. My heart went out to her as her sad memories were revealed. The half Seelie and half Unseelie villain and his cohorts were twisted malovence. The Sluagh, the spirits of the restless dead, were especially yucky creepy. I loved how protective and possessive Aerric, Kaylah’s dragon phoenix mate was. Just try to imagine Aerric’s shock seeing her alive after he had thought her dead for two hundred years! Both the O’Cianain brothers were yummy. If you’d like to get an inkling of the delicious fun coming with the rest of the Nine, you can check out all the main characters on Brynn’s website: http://www.brynnmyers.com/.

Following please a few of my favorite quotes from Entasy:

Morrigan moved across the room as if she were floating. “I will acknowledge your anger, Aerric, but only for a moment. The others will lead the charge against the fledglings, but I want you to track Liam and report back to me directly. How many Sluagh did you take out today?”
I shook my head. “Five total, but with all due respect, Goddess, I am going to need a bit more of an explanation as to why the love of my life is lying here before me, alive and well, when she was supposed to have died two centuries ago.”
---
I needed this cold shower for more than one reason; the sexy male from my dream this morning returned during my little siesta. His sultry baritone was still fresh in my mind as I waited for the water to heat up. My Gaelic may have been a bit rusty, but from what I could understand, he had planned quite the erotic encounter under a sacred willow tree. I wasn’t sure I understood the reason for the tree, but he was quite adamant about it. Hey – tree or no tree, when he spoke and kissed my neck, I would have found a way to steal the Eiffel Tower if he had asked.
---
These words you want to remember: if you do not learn to control the power within you, it will consume more than just your enemy.

Brynn has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I now consider all of her books to be must-reads. Entasy is an intriguing and extremely promising start to her Prophecies of the Nine series. I have already jumped into the next book, Redemption, and am happy to report that it’s mind-blowing awesome. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

In the meantime, Brynn has a stand-alone read, Falling Out Of Focus, releasing later this month. It’s about a girl who falls into a magical world inhabited by fae. You better believe I’ll be picking it up!

Suggested Reading Order:
Prophecies of the Nine
Entasy (Prequel #0.5)
Redemption (Book #1)
Devotion (Book #2) – coming soon (late 2017 or early 2018!)

Entasy is about a girl, Kylah, that has a very over protective brother trying to live her life as a costume designer in New York City. Lately she has been having some really weird dreams/nightmares that turn out to be real and or the memories that were taken from her about her past. After being attacked by an assassin of the sadistic bad guy, Kylah's memories are forced back upon her and is taken to her grandmothers, who are goddesses, for safe keeping. In the end she is given a letter explaining a situation from her past and the importance of her embracing her future as well as gaining control of her powers.

This Novella has a great story line and promises to be a good series, but I feel that there is information missing. Like why were Kylah's memories forced from her, more background information between her and other characters. And I wish there was a little more conflict between Kylah and Aerric as well as some hesitation right after her memories start to return and before they become re acquainted with each other.

I think Entasy will be a great intro into the Prophecies of the Nine series.

Entasy by Brynn Myers.
Entasy was a good book that I enjoyed. This is the first book that I have received for free from the Goodreads Giveaway. I was very excited when it arrived. The cover art is beautiful, both front and back, it fits the story very well. I even enjoyed the chapter art. The story line was great, a damaged and broken young fae, spelled into forgetfulness in an effort to heal the horrific wounds to her soul. I liked the family dynamic. I was a little disappointed at the strength of character. While the main character was likable I couldn't identify with her. I really wanted a strong female character, I do think she could eventually get there through out the series, I look forward to seeing where she goes. The majority of this book was character development, setting up relationships, and bringing the past and present together. All well done. Not a lot is resolved in this book, but it definitely leaves you wanting more. I did have a pet peeve moment while reading the book, it is couldn't care less, not could care less. Overall a solid enjoyable book I will be reading the rest of the PROPHECIES of THE NINE.

This novella was sort of confusing at first. It’s written differently, for a more mature audience and it was hard to differentiate the characters that were telling the story in different chapters. It’s always hard to get into a story, but sometimes you get lucky and it explains it all perfectly. I liked the style of this book, the direction that it’s going towards. It can be quite sexual at times, which is why it’s for a more mature audience. The ending of the novella explains things in more details. Kylah reads the letter to discover about her past and find out about what her future destiny holds. There’s also a list of the meaning of some Irish words and the characters bios. It’s only the prequel to the prophecies of the nine series by Brynn Myers. I’m going to give the next book a try once it comes out.
