I have been writing poetry all of my life. I have always thought that writing poetry was simply a way to express feelings, sometimes directly with simple words and sometimes with complex words in the form of a puzzle to be solved. I have come to believe that the process is akin to a catharsis of the soul not simply the expression of feelings, but a cry for understanding of the very essence or soul of the writer. The need to be heard and understood is a universal human need in all cultures. Words can heal your heart.
