About
Jade Hamilton was born in London and began writing stories at the age of 5. Diagnosed with cerebrel palsy at 9 months, she attended a mainstream primary school, before becoming a weekly boarder at (Lord Mayor) Treloar's School in Hampshire from the age of 11. There, she encountered fellow pupils with a wide range of physical and/or learning disabilities: from cerebral palsy and spina bifida to complex genetic disorders.
Jade began publishing poetry in anthologies in her teens and after A-Levels, she completed both a BA and an MA at the University of Winchester.
After a few experimental years, Jade fell back on her childhood love of audiobooks and audiodrama to create fiction that can be as accessible to as many people as possible and document hidden lives: including the lives of disabled people and their families.
She is vegetarian and lives in Surrey, reading, writing, listening to audiobooks, watching music documentaries and dramas and drinking too much coffee.
