Let me start off by saying OMG, WOW and AH-MA-ZING. I was so excited to have won Aleatha's ARC contest and am now very happy to give my honest review of it. I went into this book a little scared but knew it was going to be nothing less than great and that the author wouldn't let us down.
The book starts off in 2016, Claire is in a psychiatric care facility but Emily is not allowing anyone to see her nor mention HIS name, Tony. But where is Tony. From there we are taken back to where we left off in Truth where Claire has taken off thanks to Catherine and Tony left wondering what is going on. The story then take us back and forth from 2013 to 2016 slowly filling in all the pieces and slowly answering one by one all those unanswered questions.
"There's no good to come from digging up the past"
This book has brought together all the characters from Consequences and Truth, Meredith, Sophia, Phil, Harry and Catherine, but the author has taken them to another whole different level. In this book the author has made me love these characters and/or hate them so much more than before. As the book progresses we begin to find out the rest of Claire and Tony's story but we see how all the players fit their pieces into the puzzle as the story progresses. This book showed us different sides of the characters we have come to know, we got to see selfless love from one that I know I would have never expected. We got to see what real friendship truly is and what it means to put the well being of a friend ahead of yours own self. But we also got those moments that the truth came out and along with them came those moments of "What the hell, I so did not see that coming?"
Claire in this book was so amazing, she really stepped up her A game and is such a strong character in this book. I loved her sassy-ness and I loved her banter.
"Well How about I work on not being such an ass, and you work on restraining that smart mouth of yours?"
"I was under the impression you liked my mouth"
Tony , Tony Tony, I hated you then I loved you, then I hated you again by the end of Consequences, and you evoked so much emotion from me that I swore I wouldn't read any more about you. But I went back in and once again went back and forth between loving and hating you in Truth. In Convicted, I not only loved you, I fell madly deeply in love with you. Seeing further into your soul and how you looked back on your time with Claire and how you now felt, OMG you broke my heart, I cried for you, and no matter what you did to Claire, I forgave you, you were the man we needed you to be and you did not disappoint us. I truly can say there really was no point in this book that I didn't love this man, and after reading this book there truly will be a lot less Tony haters.
This book made me smile, made me laugh, OMG it made me cry, sad tears, happy tears, OMG tears and then when things really came to a head and the cards were beginning to be laid on the table, this book had me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and giving up sleep and food just to get to the end, I needed to have the answers I needed to know what came of them. This book and the series were truly a breath of fresh air for me, I am a light and fluffy romance girl and this series really took me out of my comfort zone, but took me also to a place that I am so glad I never missed out on. I have never felt so much and so many different emotions just from reading. And there have only been a couple of times I have ever felt so connected and invested in two main characters. These books are so enjoyable to read, they keep you wondering and trying to figure things out, you never know what will happen and I love that they are so unpredictable and different from everything else I read. In the beginning I called described this book as a Psychological thriller with an unexpected romance thrown in, to describe them now, an amazing love story with a little psychological thriller and mystery on the side.
This book truly blew me away and any expectations I had, this book and the series truly rocked my world and took my emotions on an amazing roller coaster ride. It was absolutely perfect, never once did I think I wish that hadn't happened or wish this happened instead, I wouldn't change a thing about this book, so kudos to the author and to her beta team, they truly put an amazing piece of work together that I cannot say enough about and seriously can't put it into words how amazing it was except to say I have a serious major book hangover and I will be heading back in to savor this book during the second read.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2013Okay, so before you dive in the world of Tony and Claire, you'll need some essentials-- especially if you are planning on reading all 3 books back to back (You brave souls out there!). Make sure: READ THEM IN ORDER! Consequences, Truth, and finally, Convicted.
So, before you sit down, here's a list of supplies you'll need:
Valium, Xanax, wine (or beer)-- tequila or vodka are preferable.
Chocolate, Tums, a pillow (to punch, throw, and scream Into)
and finally, if you grind your teeth - a mouth guard. Don't ask.
Now, you are ready to dive into the world of Consequences!! Why, might you ask, would you put yourself through such hell? Because. it is EPIC!!!!!!! that's just one word to describe this trilogy. What a ride. Aleatha Romig brings us full circle with Convicted. So, let's stick to this book. How can I write a review without giving anything away? Idk, but I'll try.
I don't think I've anticipated a book this year as much as I waited for Convicted. I counted down the days, planned my schedule around the release date, and like many of you, downloaded it as soon as it came live. Aleatha did not disappoint! Reading this book what sweet, excruciating agony. I dreaded passing each page, knowing that my love affair with Tony would come to an end. Aleatha is the master of mystery; she fed me small, sweet morsels of information, almost as a teasing of sorts, all the way to the end. HOLY TORTURE BATMAN!! I didn't want to say goodbye to these amazing characters, especially Tony. I find him absolutely fascinating. As a communicator, and as a reader, he intrigues me to no end. I couldn't wait to see what he did or said from one moment to the next. This is what separates a good writer from all the rest in my opinion. Aleatha is able to take us outside of our comfort zone, while keeping us engaged. Lord, I don't know how many times while reading this trilogy I had to put my iPad down before I hurled it across the room, had to reach into my wine cabinet for support, or gorged myself of chocolate to muster the strength to continue... Many times!! Yet every time, I came right back to them. To Claire, Tony, Catherine, Courtney, and Emily. I had to know. I just HAD to. And that is what makes Aleatha Romig a great storyteller. She has created living, breathing, characters that stayed with me not weeks, but months after finishing the books. I still can't let them go. I'm not ready to let them go! I feel the need to talk about them, desperately! After finishing all three books in this series, I'm in need of counseling for readers PTSD! Would I do it again? Would I read them again? In a heartbeat. I wouldn't miss it for the world. I highly recommend these books to anyone who'd listen. I've even told strangers I see reading books. If you want to escape to an amazing, one of a kind story, pick up this series. Thank you so much Aleatha Romig, for taking me outside of my comfort zone, making me laugh, cry, scream, swear, and even roll my eyes, all while reading -- all in public -- and private. Tony and Claire have now touched my life and I'll never be the same because of them. A true test of what an amazing writer and storyteller Aleatha Romig is. I can't wait to see what new stories and characters she has in store for us next!! ❤️ I can't wait!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Convicted (Consequence Series #3)

5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely loved Convicted
When I began reading I had no idea what the heck was going on. I said to myself, "What happened that lead to this point?" I had NO idea what to expect. All I knew is what was going it broke my heart. What happened to Claire? Where is Tony? All this was not going on at the end of Truth. These unknowns encouraged me to continue reading. I needed answers! Once again, I was battling with my love/hate relationship for Tony as the story progressed. I needed to know how Catherine fit into this mess.
Then it happened. The truth was finally coming out. The pieces to the puzzle were finally starting to align. I found out who the real monster was. Did I expect it? NO! Convicted was an emotional roller coaster with twists and turns coming from every angle. Each chapter left you questioning the fate of each character. Then the timeline of events was finally exposed and things started to make sense.
I'm sorry I'm being vague, but there is no way to describe this novel without exposing spoilers. What I did learn from this story is that true love can withstand any obstacle; the feeling of loss, betrayal, abuse, grief, deceit. This series was emotional, disturbing, heart-wrenching, and beautiful all at the same time. You witness the characters growing and learning from mistakes and changing for the better.
The author showed just how loving Tony can be when his heart and priorities are in the right place. I would have been unable to accept the original fate, if a certain something did not happen. I cannot wait for Behind His Eyes to learn more about what was going on with Tony during this whole experience.
I strongly recommend reading this series, but you cannot read them out of order. This series is being marked as one of my all time favorite reads. Excellent story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely incredible.
How do I even begin to put in to words the pure GENIUS that was Convicted?
Aleatha has succeeded in completely blowing me away and exceeding all of my expectations. I've kind of come to the conclusion that a lengthy, in depth review of Convicted is going to be impossible without making it spoilery so I am just going to have to keep it short and sweet (is anything Tony related sweet?) to the point..
"Theirs was a long, complicated story with a monster and a knight. What made their story unique was that these two players were the same person."
I just don't know what to start. Can I say I loved it and moved on? I'd like to, but that would not be fair on Aleatha. I can tell her all went in to the book and so much more. I was worried starting because it had been so long since I had been in the world of Tony and Claire. I certainly hadn't forgotten them, this was a highly anticipated release after all, instead I just wasn't familiar with the story like I would have preferred. If you are reading this and haven't started Convicted yet, I highly suggest re-reading Consequences and Truth beforehand. Other than that though, the minute I started I was right back in their world. The prologue had me SHOCKED, I was literally speechless and I knew from that point there was no way I could wait to read, even if it was midnight.
We all had our questions at the end of Truth and one of mine in particular was Who the hell was on that island with Claire? I was SO pleased that we didn't have to wait long to find out the answer to that. I felt like going through this book, I got to tick off so many of my unanswered questions. At times I could have considered it information overload, but on the whole, the thing with this series is, it's that it is so complex, with so many stories going on, that you have to really be on the ball to know where you are at. And that is fine, it makes a brilliant change to have to really think about what is going on when I read.
ALL of the old players are back in this latest instalment and I think I had mixed emotions on just about all of them, minus Tony and Claire. I have always been, and am proud to say still am, a member of Team Tony ♥. Yes, he's a monster, yes he's done some absolutely horrendous things, particularly to Claire, but I just knew deep down he wasn't all monster. The Tony we see in Convicted is like a new man and, I didn't know it was possible, but I loved him even more. The change and growth in just this character alone, from book #1 to book #3 was incredible. The change wasn't forced, or unrealistic, it was SO real and so apparent.
"So, to say they changed each other may be incorrect, yet to say they had changed - was an understatement."
Once again, I don't even know where to start with the actual writing of this series. The way in which Aleatha has written Convicted is just so freaking clever. There really is just no other word for it. The story expertly switches between past and present as well as being written from the POV of all of the important players. Not once was I ever confused, and that in itself is a credit and thanks to Aleatha's incredible writing. In the past, particularly with Consequences I criticised that there was far too much description, it was lengthy and I felt unnecessary. Instead of agreeing with that this time around, I found that I loved it, enjoyed it and most importantly I got so much more from the story, because of it.
Overall, what can I say? I got everything I wanted in Convicted and more. Yes, a million and one of our questions are answered and for that I was thankful, but we are still left with more, but I found that OK. We know that Aleatha plans to write novella's from Tony's POV so I am glad that we don't have all the answers right now. I couldn't have been happier with what we did get though, so well done to Aleatha. A job done perfectly.
"Claire, you have been the captor of my heart since you were a freshman in college."
Apparently I didn't keep this quite so short.. Oops

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 + Stars! Stellar Conclusion
First let me begin with saying that if you have not read, books one, Consequences and two, Truth of this series, you must before reading Convicted. I even went back and re-read both before beginning Convicted. These books are so intricate, with a plot so incredibly complex, you must refresh your memory before reading the final installment.
"Don't disappoint me - there will be consequences"
I have never read a series of books that have affected me the way this one has. This series is so full of twists, turns, lies, partial truths, deception, and intrigue, it will not only leave you wanting more, but gasping to find out what happens next. I found myself, breathing faster, gripping my kindle, pounding on furniture, cursing, shaking my head, face palming and of course turning those pages faster and faster.
"She wondered, was she just a pawn in a much bigger game? Was anything real?"
When we begin the third book, Claire Nichols is not where we last saw her, in fact we are in the year 2016. I was thrown for a loop from the very start. The story again bounces, between present, future and past. This was the authors way of keeping right on the edge for the entire ride. Building tension to the point, you think you may just snap. Claire is not herself. Anthony Rawlings, well he'd begun his transformation in the last book, and he continues to evolve and change right before your eyes. All of the other players are here as well, Catherine, Emily, John, Courtney, Brent, Phil, Harry, Sophia. It seems that the further you read, everyone has an important role in this story. The settings for me even took on lives of there own. Rich, vibrant, desolate and beautiful.
The reasons I loved this last book, are obvious ones. We finally get the rest of the puzzle pieces. Reading this series is like trying to do a 10,000 piece puzzle, with only half the pieces. The writing is intelligent, imaginative, fast paced and incredibly vivid. The emotional connection that the author creates between the characters is beautiful. You feel all of the love, pain and torment of the characters, while reading. Everyone one of the characters in this book is flawed. The author has created a massive mystery, that you cannot help being desperate to see it unravel at the end.
As you read things start to shift and everything starts to make more sense. This series is complicated, you really need to focus and think about what you're reading. This is a thriller, a thriller with a lot of other things going on in the background. First and foremost Anthony and Claire's love story. Theirs is a unique and twisted love story. I never thought I would be rooting for them to end up together in the end, but nearing the end I was desperate for them to make it. I needed them to have a HEA after everything they had done to each other and survived. Their relationship stands for unconditional, unshakable, love.
"Their ties had gone through the fires of hell and come out stronger - refined by the flames - not consumed; nevertheless, the safety of their family would never be taken for granted."
If you are looking for a truly unique, complicated, romantic thriller, this is the series for you. I loved these books, and Convicted is a masterpiece. A perfect conclusion to a series that has been awaited for a very long time. These characters and their story will stay with you, long after you have finished reading. Aleatha Romig is a genius at keeping you spellbound from the beginning.
