Of Gods And Monsters: Hades Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 178 ratings

A King with no heart.

Breno Hades el Oscuro ruled the crime world of the United States. When the King fell, what was left in the ashes was not the small boy that grew up without his father, not the same kid that chose a life of crime at seventeen, nor was it the King who had killed and clawed through a river of blood to stand at the top.

The King was dragged from his throne of bones into a deep dark pit, leaving only the raw monster to crawl out of Hell.

One that knew love, but never wanted it again.

A Demon with no soul.

Kemono Orochi was destined to inherit the legacy of his father, known as The Dragon's Tongue. He never wanted it, never desired the power that came with the title of Dragon. Kemono ended it all by tearing off the Dragon's head, watching the serpent's remains be consumed in hellfire. Now tormented by the scars of his past inflicted by his father, he struggles to come to terms with the Akuma he has become.

He will devour everyone in his path to protect the one that matters to him.

The only person that had ever made his icy-heart beat.

His heart. His love. His beautiful pride.

A Phoenix without its wings.

Rex Hunter dreams of becoming a principal ballerino...all fierce, like a Phoenix. But this Phoenix has lost his wings and fallen prey, straight into the clutched claws and callus hands of two vicious beasts. Each bore the blackest of hearts, each desiring to keep him safe, cherished and loved unconditionally. Or was Rex just destined to be the glue that would stick two shattered souls together and prevent them from forever falling to pieces?

This is a love story between two monstrous villains and one valiant young man, held together by their entwined heartstrings.

But…

There will always be love…

Because even Villains understand the tortured scars love leaves in her wake.

They come to me in the night, creeping into my head. Their voices are all different, their stories all dissimilar, but they keep saying the same thing...

"Show us, tell us, bring us into your world, and make us known."

Then I sit and they take over. They tell their tales of love, loss and sinister misfortune. Not all of them get a happy ending, but they are pleased when their part is written.

I sometimes find myself lost in my own mind; a world very similar to our own yet so different. Things don't go bump in the night-- they squeal and crawl under your skin, making you grind your teeth, and making your stomach turn over and putting your nerves on edge. Then there's the drama. Oh, the drama!

Wulf Francú Godgluck hails from South Africa. His work is not for the faint-hearted! In his books you'll find... all the beasties with their nasty claws and teeth, and some you didn't even know existed.

But the monsters aren't all real.

Some live inside us. Who knows what he will make you discover about yourself, lurking in your heart, behind the closed walls in the deep, black recesses where no light penetrates?

Wulf will steal your heart and never give it back. More than likely, he'll pin it to the wall with a bobbypin and sit there sipping his tea while you writhe and squeal on the floor...

STILL sure you want to read a Wulf Godgluck book?

Proceed at your own peril.

It takes a person who understands that it's hard loving monsters and makes people who play in the dark simply enchanting...Daddy Hades took me in the same ways he took Rex, I feel as through I wish it were darker that the author left nothing off of the table. All the same this book was a masterpiece in my opinion a day I actually enjoyed translating some,of the words in Google translate, I thought that was what set's this style of writing apart in such a unique way because it fit the characters and the situations that took place in their life. The erotic scene's in this book were written out carefully and with some actual forethought, I appreciated that.
I think what had me nervous and a bit timid was how much I related to the authors stories, how it felt as though he was laying me bare and telling the world things about how I felt about myself and how I saw myself personally. I have not felt touched and so understood in two books in a good long while.

Basically, sweet Twinks and criminal, murderous Daddies find true love. There is plot - mostly related to unrealistic, illegal, underworld activities and acts of revenge. Lots of porn, mostly Dom/Sub of various stripes and truly creative and copious profanity. If any of that bothers you this book is best avoided. If it fits your particular kink, or even if you're just open minded and able to suspend disbelief and 'real world' morality, this is a fun read. The author has professional writing mechanics and is talented in drawing interesting characters, including secondary. Sprinkled amongst the larger than life personalities and behavior is some actual character growth. Strange love affirming. IMO if you liked Sin City you'll like this.

One caveat- this is part one. NOT COMPLETED. Ends on a pretty major cliffhanger. The first entry in the 'Gods and Monsters' series was released about six months previously although it was a stand alone story. The author may release a sequel to this earlier but who knows.

Fair warning, this novel gets graphically dark at times, and will likely push the most jaded reader’s envelope a tad. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that Mr. Godgluck has a natural talent of writing brutally dark and gripping stories about roguishly bad men, and the intrepid souls that fall for them. This gritty novel is truly the first half of a story about two viciously violent men who happened to be in love with the same young man. It is also the second book in the Of Gods and Monsters series.

Mr. Godgluck is very good at writing emotional and flawed complex characters, which makes the story that much more tangible and richer. The chemistry between Hades and Rex Hunter is off the charts. Godgluck does an awesome job of building tantalizing sexual tension between them, and when he introduces the third person in this lethal triangle, he will definitely have you wondering just how it’s going to work. Unfortunately, you won’t find out because the novel ends with a doozey of a cliff hanger.

I really do like this book; however, there were times Godgluck got a bit too enthusiastic on the detailed background information, and characters personal angsts that it made for a long draggy story at times—especially at the end. Furthermore, the adjectives and pet names became for me, eye-roll worthy by chapter three. Also, I have nothing against cursing in a book; in fact, there is nothing like a good F-bomb or bombs placed in the right moments. However, when you abuse it and its fellow curse words, characters for me start to come off absurdly juvenile.

Anyway, I really do hope fellow readers you give this story a read, it is a fun ride despite knowing you’ll be cursing Godgluck when you come the end, but I’ve read he will be coming with its sequel fairly soon.

Hades: President of the Cerberun MC a hard angry man. Vicious and dangerous. Rex: a lost young man who wants to be a ballet dancer. Open and caring, he lost his first love and is falling fast for the second.
An exciting drama full of great memories and great emotions. A storyline that takes you on a journey and then rips you onto a new path.
Five stars for the storyline but I could have taken one away for the gratuitous use of so many slang and foreign language words for the same things throughout the book.
In total a great second book of the series.

I hadn't checked this book out until I found out there was going to be a third book. This one hadn't seemed too interesting to me after the first book, Of Gods and Monsters: Menoetius, but am I glad I finally read it.

Hades feels he doesn't deserve love, he's too ugly, too mean, too much of a beast. But Rex sure think he does. He sees far beyond Hades's scars, tattoos, and beastly actions. He wants Hades to feel love, and to love him back. These two are such emotion filled characters, it's impossible not to feel the same emotions as you read.

An excellent story, and one that is perfectly followed with Of Gods and Monsters: Komainu.

Hades is the Prez of the Cerberus and the King of the Kage in the underworld crime. After 4 years in jail, no sorry, in hell, Hades come back for his revenge before step down from his role as Prez and King.
After 4 years in a hole suffering from abuse, torture and punishement, Hades is free, his first night out, when he come back to his flat, he find a young man in his bed.

Rex Hunter is the son of the former prez of The Cerberus. When he was 6 years old, his dad was killed and Rex was sent in Japan to be raised by M.Orochi the chief of the Dragon's Tongue (Triade). He had stayed there until his 18 birthday when M.Orochi put him in the plane and send him back to the USA

Back at N.Y a member of the club came to help him and provide him a place to live. For 4 years Rex live his life, between his ballet, his job as waiter, his cat, Rex is happy. Until the night when he is waked by a giant, scary man in his flat.

Hades and Rex will live together until they find a better solution , they will start to know each other and fall for each other. Rex will tame Hades.

I really love this book, better than the first one (Menoetius). Hades and Rex are really beautiful together, and the passion between them is just crazy.

This book deserve 5 stars easily, so why I rated 3.5 stars ?
There are 2 points which bothered me.
First, the repetition. This book was long, and sometimes, some chapter was just boring to read, not because the author didn't have any talent, but because it was just repetitive. I had the impression of turning in circles to re-read the same thing said differently. I don't need 4 different chapters at 4 different moment in the story to remind me that Hades is crual, and lonely and craved to be touch.
    I removed 0.5 star.

The second thing, was Rex and Hades relationship. I'm going to be straightforward. The Daddy/Little boy's kink is something that turn me on, most of the time, but here it was too much.
Rex is 22 years, he is a man, an adult. I get it, he is small, he has a body of a ballet's dancer, he is delicate. I totally get it.
But the way the author describe him in Hades eyes, it was like a little kid of 7 years old. All the "little hand" or "small feet with his little toes","my little boy with his little cock". or "I want to make happy my daddy", It was wrong really.

At some point it was like Hades was a pedophil and had sex with a little child.
The worst is that at first, when they started with the "Daddy / Little boy", it wasn't like that, but the more we read, and the more we slip in this weird thing.

I think the author wanted to mark the distinction between Hades and his life full of sin and bad with Rex purity and innocence. But it was too much, and at the end we end up with a 22 years old man acting like a 7 years old kid, who need his daddy to put him to bed before falling asleep with his teddy bear.
    That's why I removed 1 star.

This two points wich bothered me, didn't spoil completely the reading and I can admit that this book and this story was good , and I'm sure going to read the next book.

Reviewed in Italy on December 9, 2018
The title of this series could not be more apt than that. Before embarking on the story, starting with the first novel, I read the reviews and they completely disassociated me. In these stories there are, as the title says, gods and monsters, but the boundary between the two does not exist, coz they're faces of the same personality, cruelty and tenderness keep the soul of the MCs hostage, forcing them to seek a balance and discover hopes suppressed under the weight of reality. I'm not going to repeat the plot and in this case the reviews have been completely useless for me,because they do not say that the narrative is full of meanings that go far beyond the definition of good and evil. The truth is sharp. The bleeding reality. The soul of men reduced to a mass of tears, flesh and torment. What about language? A cultural and descriptive grace that I have not found in any other story that was declared non-violent. 5 fat and significant stars.

From the reviews already on Amazon, I was expecting better. I read the whole book and about 75% of the way through it was a struggle because I found that the tale was just plodding along, very little was happening. I lost interest in the characters. I finished the book but I know that in about 2 or 3 months time I will remember very little about it as there was nothing of real interest to make me remember the story. Yes the book is well written, there is a bit of a story to follow.... but I have read far better stories.
