Tragedy at Silver Creek: A Silver Creek Mystery Kindle Edition
Guilt is a powerful thing, and former deputy Jack Collins is mired in it. Unable to forget the events that have taken place in the town he was sworn to protect, he feels as if he is slowly drowning as he tries to cope with the aftermath of a serial killer’s reign of terror, as well as his new—and unwanted—job as chief of police.
When the body of a young woman, having the same puncture wounds as the serial killer’s previous victims, is discovered, Jack must determine if this is a copycat crime or the work of a possible accomplice—either of which—could put the killer’s only surviving victim in grave danger. As Jack delves deeper into the murder, his vow to keep the victim safe, combined with the secret he’s been harboring, begins to take its toll. His sudden inability to confide in his wife, Cheryl, causes their home, which was once a haven for him, to become just another source of tension.
An overzealous news team, a threat from his not so distant past, and a mayor who wants the murder swept under the rug, only add to the pressure surrounding Jack as he struggles to do what’s right on all levels in this riveting, stand-alone sequel to The Monster of Silver Creek.

About the author

I am an author of women's fiction & mystery novels.
My stories are filled with angst, intimacy, despair, and hope. My women are not weak, and yet, my men are not always strong; you will also find that my characters aren't perfect - they are far from it, actually, because even heroes have a chink or two in their armor. It's what makes them human, and I find that fascinating.
I was born and raised in Kentucky and currently reside in a small town near Louisville with my husband, two sons (one who loves me unconditionally, and one who loves me only when were not in public) and a menagerie of animals that includes three persnickety cats. Besides being a full-time writer, mom, and professional hamster wrangler, I am also a firm believer that Krazy Glue fixes everything.
I have written six novels to date: "After All Is Said And Done", "The Monster of Silver Creek", "Seasons of Darkness", "Tragedy at Silver Creek" , "Winter's Malice", and the recently released "The House on the Cliff".

- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2023Yes! This is the perfect follow-up novel to read. I'm glad I read it. The characters all have different underlying struggles and emotional baggage. Yes, plenty of loss, but also plenty of love. The author brings out the deeper feelings in a town racked with murder and grief. The story is tightly woven and truly perfect for those who like mystery, murder, and love. Five stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2023Deep and a bit harsh, well crafted emotional roller coaster. Dude 20 words required? I can’t even- where is the value in concise language?
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2020Dealing with the aftermath of multiple murders from a serial killer, the people in the town try to heal. Another murder with similarities occurs. The author reveals how the complicated lives and the past and present actions of characters set in motion a series of events. The motive behind the last murder was a surprise. The characters experience love, loss, betrayal, jealousy, desire, compassion and redemption.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2016Jack Collins is the new Police Chief, a job he really doesn’t want for several reasons; the death of his predecessor and best friend, Nathan Sommers, is just one of them. Dealing with the town’s mayor and other politicos, not to mention a morally bankrupt reporter are making his life miserable. To top it off, another woman is dead and her murder bears a strong resemblance to the monster serial killer that plagued the town just a short while ago.
As the pressure builds to solve the crime, the skeletons that haunt him are trying to get out and Jack is turning into himself and becoming distant from his beloved wife, it adds up to an emotional rollercoaster. Another fast paced mystery by Ms. Buchanan, I highly recommend reading The Monster of Silver Creek (book 1) first.
Typically I receive books for free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review, however if I find an author whose work is exceptional, I will purchase their novels. That is the case with Ms. Buchanan’s work and I hope more Silver Creek books are in the works (see all our reviews at http://www.bookexplosions.com/ or on Goodreads at (...)
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2017I recommend reading The Monster of Silver Creek before this sequel--otherwise the plot and characters can be confusing at first. Once I got everyone figured out, the plot was interesting but not emotionally involving for me. I didn't especially care for Jack's frequent tears and trembling--he needed to get past all the guilt and get on with his job and his life (which I guess he did in the end). The thing that bothered me the most was the formatting. I bought the Kindle version, so I don't know if this is true of the print version, but a great many of the paragraphs had an extra space between them, which meant the book was not as long in word count as its 596 pages would imply. I love long books I can really get into, and I bought this one largely because of the 596 pages, so I was disappointed when this turned out to be another quick read. Good story, though.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2020This was a very good book, really kept me on the edge of my seat, or I should say my bed. I was lying in my bed while reading this! Stayed up late for two nights, until I finished it. Thank you for a great mystery!!

- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2016It's been a while since I've read a thoroughly interesting mystery/suspense novel...but this one exceeded my expectations. Belinda Buchanan hit all the points I look for when reading this genre: realistic characters, plot twists with a twinge of darkness to them, good dialog, and a believable story line. I found myself invested not only in the overall story, but also wanting to know specifically what was going to happen with each individual character. I had not read the first book of this series, but had no problem getting hooked by this solid stand-alone story and becoming interested in the plights of Jack, Cheryl, Katie, and the deceased Nathan. I will be sure to go back and read the first book in the series, as well as looking forward to reading more from the author.
