- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2017"Tell this author I really like her pictures!" After I read the book (twice) to our grandson, he wanted me to let the author know he "liked her book very much." When I told him she had more books like this one, he said, "You can buy those for me, too!" So, the book has been approved by the adult, AND the child =)
I purchased this book for my grandson's library here at my house. As a grandma, I know my grandchild is perfect and wouldn't need a book like this to help him with his emotions. WRONG =) I know my little angel struggles with his emotions just as much as I do. The difference is I've got years of experience to navigate the waters of anger (self-control). He's still learning. This is a precious book written on a child's level to help them understand the feeling. It then steps them through in their language how to do better next time. It's written in rhyme with a fun beat. There's a couple of coloring pages at the end where your young one color and get creative. For the adults, the author has included some tips for the parents on how to deal with your little ones and their anger problems. Those tips are pure gold and should be in every new parent's arsenal of how to 'handle the little adult' in their life!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2017Jennifer Waddle is my new favorite children's book author. If you want fun reads, with great illustrations, combined with a great message, be sure to check out her books. Regarding this particular book, there is a great selection of common causes of anger for kids. It then goes into how to deal with anger in a more positive way. As an added bonus, there is a free anger chart, some coloring pages, and tips for parents to help their children deal with anger issues.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2016If you know kids, you also know they are a bundle of emotions from gushy
love to nuclear melt downs. Jennifer's book addresses the reality of
anger, from the causes to the things children should remember once anger
has taken hold. It is a very quick read for a parent, and older siblings
who have mastered contractions (like "it's") could also read it aloud. The
bonus coloring pages would be great to use during a discussion of anger,
and how to handle that emotion.

Reviewer: Janice S. Garey
***** 5 Stars
I highly recommend this picture book for younger children learning about their feelings and their options in responses.
This book has great illustrations to go with the nicely rhymed words and important thoughts. I think all parents will appreciate the message of this book along with its age appropriate and engaging illustrations.
Along with the book, you also receive reproducible coloring pages to use as a reinforcement activity. I believe some of the scenarios in the book could be acted out by children to get even more personal experience with their options when angry. A chart to record emotions comes with the book so children can be aware of their progress.
I received an e-copy of this author's book from her to read and post my honest review. I was given no compensation for my reading and review.
As a former preschool teacher, with experience in reading to groups of young children, this book would be perfect to read in that setting or at home during the day. It's probably not the best bedtime book with anger as its subject.
This is the kind of book that parents and teachers will want to read again and again to reinforce the message and give many opportunities for discussion as children go through stages of emotional development.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2016As a homeschooling mom and owner of a home child care, I'm always looking for new books with meaning to share with the kids. I really loved this book because it deals with anger as a normal, healthy emotion, and it gives kid-friendly examples of how to turn anger into a positive way of dealing with life. These examples, I even have seen in my own kids, and are really relatable, because I see at least one every day in a child. The kids I take care of love to ask questions, and this book is a wonderful way to get those wheels turning, and talk about how the boy acted on each page and how he may have responded in a more positive manner. The author also gives tools for grown-ups to carry out the lesson even more with tips and free coloring pages to help the book's lesson easy for little ones to remember. I thought this was a great touch!
I received a free electronic copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback and review, with no other compensation offered or given.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2016As a parent of a child who struggles with anger, I am excited to use this book along with the color pages and thermometer chart with my son, as well as my other children, to help them better understand why they are feeling what they are feeling and how to control their emotions. I love the rhyme scheme, and the illustrations. This is definitely going to be a staple in our home!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2016This is a great book to teach children that being angry is normal. It also teaches children that you do not have to be angry that there are other ways to express feelings. Highly recommend this book for families with young children.
