I just love the Tucker series. We would all benefit from knowing somoene like Tucker. Sadly if we did meet someone like her we would probably never take the time to get to know her. Most people would take one look at Tucker and put her in the category of "poor white trash" and never bother to find the hidden gem inside. The Tucker series can really make you see that you should never judge someone if you havent walked in their shoes. David Johnson has a way of making you love this whole group of misfits. The only thing that kept me from giving this book a 5 star rating was the fact that it needed better editing. There were several places where the wrong word was used or there was an extra word in the sentence. That's easy enough to over look but the one that really annoyed me was that early in the book we learn the identity of the father of one of Tucker's grandchildren (don't want to give anything away) but later in the book (at least 3 times) he is referred to as the grandfather instead of the father. Still a great book and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

An unexpected frost is a poignant event in nature that grieves the heart of those waiting for springs rebirth... there is no explanation for its untimely assault but it happens even as unexplained cruelty of man to his fellow man. i loved that David Johnson has approached God's seeming silence and given His voice sound. Forgiveness and mercy, truth, and justice are measured out in a timely manner in sharing with the reader the Lord's perfect will/plan. "Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, THY WILL BE DONE on earth as it is in heaven.... "

How do I explain how this third book in Tucker's series affected my life so dramatically?
A character in the novel has to explain to little April that she is terminally ill; something I have heartbreaking memories of my own mother explaining to me, 30 years ago, when I was 8.
Further on, I was again confronted of very similar times of the person being cared for at home and ultimately passing away as my mother did also.
During the dim time of reading of the characters struggles, I also found my heart and soul being lifted by some struggles I had also had with God and my efforts to bring him closer into my life.
Amazingly I found answers to inner turmoils I have carried inside for nearly 15 years through this series and at this moment my soul feels lighter and I can't praise this series enough.

Having read the 3 books in the series already, I know there is a dark story about to emerge in the fourth book. David Johnson has the ability to present even the most harrowing issues in a manner that helps us to understand the how's and whys of things, and I eagerly await to read book 4, and hopefully any further books that will be written in the series, in the future.

excellent read, tragic yet heart warming, it shows us that things shouldn't always be taken at face value. the heroine tucker did exceptionally well in everything that life threw at her and in her own way triumphed in the end. I loved the book and even had a cry at certain bits but had a laugh as well.
