Josephine (Bride Brigade Book 1) Kindle Edition
Michael Buchanan is fairly content running his mercantile and being mayor of Tarnation. The town is dusty and tiny, but it’s growing. He believes it holds all he needs to be happy—except a wife. There are no available women in town, but he hopes Lydia Harrison’s Bride Brigade will offer a woman he can wed. He is immediately attracted to Josephine.
But Josephine has every reason to mistrust men in general and politicians in particular. Will her misgivings ruin her chance at happiness?

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains from a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. I loved meeting all the well thought out characters and will enjoy following each of them to their HEA, in the books to follow in the series. The first couple, Josephine and Matthew, started the series off perfectly and grabbed my heart from the beginning. Love their story and hope to see them in the next books. A fun light and clean read. - Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2015A wonderful read about two friends who escape terrible circumstances by joining a Bride Brigade and travel to Tarnation, Texas. This is Josephine's story. I found the story to be exciting and captivating. There were enough twists and turns that you never knew what was going to happen next. I could not put the book down until I found out the ending. I highly recommend this book. Can't wait until Book Two comes out.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2016I liked the story of Josephine and Michael. It's an easy read you can finish in an afternoon. I would have given it 5 stars if the editing would have been better. There were too many sentences that didn't make sense because missing words.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2015Caroline Clemmons always writes a wonderful story. This one tells of two young girls that run away from abusive situations at home and head for Richmond, VA to answer an ad for mail order wives. When they arrive the desk clerk tells them that it is too late, but they go up to the room advertised and met Mrs. Lydia Harrison, the lady that had been holding interviews. After talking to the girls Lydia decides to take them with her to Tarnation, TX, to become wives to some of the men in town. It is a well written story and it is filled with drama, I kept looking for Josephine's daddy to show up. I know you will enjoy this book as much as I did.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2015A great new series from Caroline Clemmons. This one is about a group of brides brought to Tarnation,Texas. The town needs to grow and some people thought if the young men married they would stay and raise families.Josephine is fleeing from a horrible father who is willing to use her to keep his job.Josephine finds out and takes off.I loved this book and couldn't put it down.I can't wait for the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2016All in all this was a good book . disappointed it was not proofread. It's very frustrating, aggravating and angers me that we the readers pay good hard earned money for these books and a large majority have never been edited/proofread. Shameful. I do hope the writers or people responsible for these books reads my remarks and takes my comment to heat. What a shame. Are they being outsourced. Maybe that's the problem, whatever t by e problem, ease fix it. Ty

You know when you're reading a good book when you start feeling for the characters. As well as Josephine I now want to know what happens to her friend Ophelia.
