About the author

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains from a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. The books she creates there have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 20171873 Tarnation, Texas. Lydia Harrison and Sophie Gaston have traveled to Virginia to find "women of good character desiring to go west for the purpose of marriage". They call it the bride brigade; there are lots of single men in the small town wanting to marry, but not many single women. Lydia is a widow with a ranch, large house, and money to spare. Lydia loves Adam, the town's sheriff, and hopes to somehow convince him he cannot live without her as his wife. He feels unworthy because she is so much wealthier than him. Silly man!
Lydia's best friend, Sophie, has a son, Riley, who is the only doctor in town. On the trip to Texas, Sophie gets to know Prudence Lynch, a woman trained in midwifery and herbal healer. Prudence is very attracted to Riley, but he is not encouraging. Riley feels "folk healing" is hogwash, and is sure Prudence is more likely to hurt someone than help.
Two very interesting love stories, and lots of information about life, medicine, and justice in the nineteenth century, makes for a enjoyable few hours of reading. This series by Author, Caroline Clemons, is so much fun to escape into; there is trouble and hardship, but the simple lives infused with love and family leave you with a feel-good glow!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2017Caroline Clemmons never fails to deliver quality stories, and Prudence , Bride Brigade #7, is no exception. Prudence is a poor young woman from a tiny village in Virginia. She has trained to be a natural healer and a midwife with her Grandmother. She is chosen by Lydia to go to Tarnation, Texas, as part of the "bride brigade" to meet eligible bachelors. Sophia, Lydia's friend has come to Richmond with her because she hopes her son, a local physician, will choose one of the young women whom Lydia has 'collected' to take home to Tarnation since there are no eligible ladies for the bachelors there. Trouble follows Prudence to Tarnation, Texas, and Dr Gaston, Sophie's son, is put off by Prudence being a healer using herbs and tinctures. Gold, robbers/kidnappers, arguments from stubborn bachelors are just some of the obstacles to happiness for Prudence and Lydia. As this is the final Bride Brigade novel, I was both thrilled and sad to see it available. This entire series was extremely enjoyable.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2023this author is in my top 20...first time i read these was 2017 they were in kindle worlds i think in 2022 the kindle worlds were done away with and these were re-released according to ms clemmons. There are some very small changes BUT what really gets my goat so to speak is the typos that im pretty sure were not in the first releases hence the 4 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2017Prudence is a midwife and folk healer who learned the art at her dear Granny's knee.
She decides to answer an ad and becomes a mail order bride of sorts.... Dr. Reilly Gaston doesn't think much of Folk Healing.
To find out more you will need to read this amazing book by Caroline Clemmons you won't be sorry... this is a sweet romance
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2017This entire series has been so intriguing. I loved this book, Prudence. She knew she was educated without having a formal education. She stuck by her convictions and the good Dr. came to realize what an amazing women she is.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2017Sad to see this series end, I thoroughly enjoyed each book, the characters and the storyline. This last book I especially enjoyed, as it tied everything up for the perfect ending to the series. JudyE

5.0 out of 5 stars Bride Brigade series
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series but I am so sad this is the last one. But what a story two romances both Prudence and finally Lydia get their man, but not without a few issues here and there, of course Dr Gaston wanted things his way but Prudence sticks to her guns. Adam and Lydia have been attracted to each other through every book and Adam fought the attractions thinking he is not good enough. It's a must read and ties up this series very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars aAl wrapped up in the end.
This one is a ‘two-for’. The one story which carried right through them all being the second.
Sometimes a lot more than a subtle nudge is needed to push two people together. This was certainly the case with these couples. But we all love a happy ending, so you’ll be satisfied here. I even had a tear or two, all said and done. Thanks for 7 satisfying reads.
