4.5 out of 5 stars 183 ratings

A desperate young woman
A second chance
A life-changing decision.
Angeline Chandler didn’t invite the attack that created her condition but she’s suffering the result. Disowned by her family and left alone and destitute, she gets a second chance when a kind woman rescues her and invites her to travel to Tarnation, Texas with six other young women for the purpose of marriage. The prospect of marrying one man while carrying another’s child worries Angeline. Who would want her with another man’s baby?
Grady McIntyre is a minister whose wife died soon after their son was born. The woman who has been helping with his toddler has told him she’s too old to continue. When Angeline’s name is suggested as a part-time nanny, he seizes the chance to hire her. Their attraction is instantaneous but Angeline resists. A minister needs a virtuous woman, not a fallen one. Soon they marry and both are happy.
Trouble rears its ugly head until matters come to a crisis. Will detractors destroy the happiness Angeline and Grady have found?

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains from a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. The books she creates there have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards.

Tarnation Texas has new arrivals. The Bride Brigade has moved in to town in the hope to find new husbands and new lives. Angeline is in more need for this than most of the brides. She needs a home for her and her unborn child. This book and others in the series is a wonderfully told story of heartache, mistrust , violence and true love. Join in this series to see what happens to the other ladies in the Bride Brigade. Now on to Cassandra book 3 in The Bride Brigade. Happy Reading👍👍👍👍👍👍

Angeline was a breath of fresh air! I am 84 years almost and have experienced some of this holier than thou business in my church. God's love prevailed in our situation also. Thanks for your story. Sallybdyer@gmail.com

I love historical fiction when well-written, and hadn't read a good romance in a while. Good character development and a plot that didn't drag made for a really good read. I'm happy to have found this little gem, and plan to read the whole series!

As an extra for the bride brigade Angeline can't believe her luck. She comes to Tarnation Texas and finds the people warm and inviting. She can't believe her luck when the minister is interested in her. Caroline gives a great story and an enjoyable couple of hours.

A sweet romance. Angeline was a broken girl with a child on the way. Grady was a minister who could help. Together they find a happy ending.
