About the author

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains from a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. The books she creates there have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2018It's the season of love, snow, and mistletoe!
I have to admit, I'm a fan of Christmas stories. I'm also a fan of Western romances when the heroine is a talented young woman like Doctor Shannon Callahan who leaves New York in 1890 to travel to Mistletoe, Montana, hoping to be accepted by the community as a practicing physician. Sheriff Riley McCallister, of Mistletoe, has his doubts about her medical abilities until a measles epidemic sweeps into town.
Author Caroline Clemmons writes in a delightful and heartfelt style that brings the holiday season of the Old West straight into your home. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and get cozy.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2017I loved this book! I liked Riley, our hero and Shannon, our heroine, both very likeable, so it was easy to follow their story to a HEA. Humorous at unexpected spots, Riley cracked me up several times and I had to share and luckily my hubby was close by. All in all, a fun and sweet read. Judy Esposito
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2019I loved the book! it kept me on my toes and was full of surprises! It also included the element of how hard it was for female doctors to be accepted in their field. And how sweet triumph is. I would recommend this book to anyone and especially to followers of Caroline Clemmons.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2017So let me get this straight. The entire town and the arrogant Sheriff that we are supposed to consider the hero didn't approve of a female doctor throughout the ENTIRE book. The Sheriff thought she was good enough to sleep with but not good enough to be the town doctor. He only wanted her to be barefoot and pregnant in his mind is quite obvious. He never told her he approved of her as a Doctor but he sure approved of her in bed. Sheesh! Then she busts her butt helping with measles epidemic and the town's only response was a thank you sign? No we apologize. No we welcome you. No you are a true member of our town. Just a stupid thank you sign! Oh and 2 seconds later there is a wedding of two people in town so get out of the way Doc, we treated you like crap but we gave you a sign, but this wedding is more important.
And the Sheriff! Wow! I guess I'm supposed to be happy for the ending. I guess we are to assume she's still the town Doctor. But considering the Sheriff never approved of her having the job that is in doubt. It was sure hard for him to say he respected her and that she was a good doctor (heck I thought he was going to choke on the words) but he even thought to himself after saying this that she still shouldn't be the town doctor. Really? She's good and you trust her but she's not good enough to be a doctor???? And he never amended that statement.
So in the end did he decide to stop being a first class chauvinistic jerk and actually finally approve of her as a Doctor even though he never bothered to tell her. I guess since he made her his wife it's assumed he finally did. But then again maybe she's not the Doctor anymore and he got what he wanted after all...she's now only doing what he believes women are good for.
This would've been a wonderful story if the Sheriff would've come around to accept her as the Doctor. I kept waiting for it but it never happened. Same with the town. In Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman the town welcomed her with her name on the sign for her clinic at her birthday and the celebration was for her!. She didn't have just a thank you sign and then got ignored for a Christmas Eve celebration and a special wedding in town. They actually took the time to let her know she was finally welcome. The town in this story should've gone to more length considering they sure had no problem letting her know she wasn't welcomed. But I guess a thank you sign is all they could bother themselves with.
The Sheriff was "nice" some of the time and there were great scenes between them in this story until his arrogance about her being a doctor constantly and repeatedly got in the way. But it didn't get in the way of him taking her to bed but it didn't change his opinion of her. She was too stupid to let him take advantage of her. But then again sex in these kind of stories always seems to turn the women into stupid people who have no problem destroying their reputations for a quick roll in the sheets. Are we sure this isn't 2017 instead of the 1800's?
I guess I just expect more about my stories. I love flawed characters but come on this never having redemption and just sleeping around is not romantic to me. I love to see the people come around and realize they were wrong. The Sheriff did to a point but not enough and not BEFORE he tried to bed her. How is that a hero? And just once I wish a writer would make smart intelligent women who don't ignore their brains when the man wants to take their virginity despite the fact the man is a big jerk. He's a good kisser and he turns her to mush so I guess that's ALL that matters. He couldn't appreciate her as a Doctor and approve of her in the job but he can have great sex so who cares right?
But then again I'm supposed to just roll with it too I guess. But sorry I can't do that. I expect too much out of my heroes and heroines to just "roll with it".
