Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains from a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. The books she creates there have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards.

Caroline Clemmons writes such beautiful stories. Whether it is her Bride Brigade series, the Montana Sky Kindle World series, or one of her other works, you can count on it being well written and full of great characters. The Rancher and the Sheperdess is no exception. An Irish lass, widowed and accused of murdering her first husband by his mean family, arrives in Sweet Water Springs, Montana, only to find her future husband has died just days before. What is this mail order bride to do so far from home, and almost penniless? The sheriff takes her to Mrs. Murphy's boarding house then comes back shortly with a man for her to marry. They go right to the church to marry so he can get back on the road to his ranch which is a 2 day ride away. The bride is overwhelmed by her new husband's kindness and generosity, and at the size of his ranch, home and barns. She takes to being a ranchers wife right away, and proves to be a real asset when her husband is in an accident. From wolves, her former inlaws filing a criminal charge against her, to meeting neighbors, to learning so many new things about ranching she struggles to become the woman and wife she wants to be for this kind husband. Gormlaith and Garrett meet everything thrown their way with love and faith in one another. This truly is a gem in the Montana Sky Kindle World series, and I plan to read it again.

It was enjoyable to read characters that actually love each other without all the angst you find in many romance books. It alluded to the characters enjoying married life just right without graphic description. It was nice not seeing curse words to describe anger. All around a pleasant way to spend time waiting for my appointment.

I love Caroline Clemmons stories in the historical western in the late 1800's. She has a wonderful writing style that grabs you from the beginning to the end and you don't want to put the stories down.
I loved this story set in Sweetwater Springs, MT, one of my favorite places to read about since Debra Holland created this town with her wonderful Montana Sky series and Mail Order Brides of the West. I am happy she has invited other authors to spend time there and Morgan's crossing in their stories in this Kindle world.
The story of two people in need of someone, both with tragic pasts and brought together by the heroine a mail order bride who gets to Sweetwater Springs and finds her intended has died. The sheriff introduces another man to her and he is smitten right off. Maybe the sheriff knew this was a match to be. The story is sweet and wonderful with both hero and heroine able to manage animals on his ranch.
I loved this story and love Caroline Clemmons writing style. I highly recommend this book to any one who loves Historical Western romances or have already read about Sweetwater Springs from it's creator Debra Holland.

Caroline Clemmons has the ability to write lovely romance stories. In the Rancher and theShepherdess, she uses the needs of two people to bring them together. Neither is sure that life will be what they hope for, but romance has a way of connecting people when they never expect it. That is true for this lovely story. It is well written with well-defined characters and descriptive settings. I enjoyed it very much.

Gormlaith McGowan married a cruel man who became a drunk and beat her and it was expected of her not to complain. One day he was coming to beat and she tried to run and he fell down the steps and broke his neck. Thank God she had witnesses to the fall and the police closed the case. She knew she was in trouble because her mother in law expected her to marry her other son Denis so they could be supported by Gormlaith who was the only one who worked in the family of four. She went to a woman who found husband's out west and she was on her way to Montana without telling her in-laws. When she got to Sweetwater Springs, Montana the sheriff told her that Joe Higgins had died a few days before she got there. He put her up in the hotel and the next morning introduced her to a man named Garrett McDonald he told her that he knew Joe was expecting her and he was going to send for a bride himself so he asked her to marry him and she did I really enjoyed this story he had lost both his wife and baby in child birth and did not want any children and she said she must be barren for she had no children after being married for two years. She did not tell him right off that she feared her in laws might track her down and accuse her of killing her husband because when she left them they had to go to work.

Today we wonder how men could have mail ordered a wife and expected happiness. The men in these stories were so good and kind, and the women in such great need. All they had to do is trust in the Lord, and He generously provided for them.
I loved reading such a wholesome, genuine love story.
