OUT OF THE BLUE Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 79 ratings

Romantic suspense and time travel combined for a fast-paced read! Deirdre Dougherty never cursed at anyone, much less put a curse on the potato crop of her remote Irish village. She’d rather take her chances with the Atlantic lapping at the bottom of the cliff than the mob intent on burning her as they have her cottage. Deirdre leaps . . . and plops down over 160 years later in a Texas lake. She doesn’t understand how she’s ended up with the man from her recent visions or why he has the same name as the saint to whom she prayed. She’s in danger of falling for the handsome policeman who rescued her, in spite of the fact that he thinks she’s lying to him. How can she convince him her story is true when she’s finding it difficult to believe the tale herself?

Police Detective Brendan Hunter wants answers. Who shot him and killed his partner? Why? And why does Deirdre know details of the event? Her story has to be a colossal fabrication or else she’s a beautiful psycho. Either way, he wants her gone before he becomes even more fascinated with her. But he can’t let her out of his sight until she confesses to how she learned details no one but he and his late partner knew.

About the Author

As long as I can remember, I've made up adventures. I admit the early creative stories featured me riding the range with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and saving the West. What a disappointment to learn that Roy was exclusively committed to Dale! Eventually, my best friend from across the street and I decided to become better detectives than Nancy Drew. We drove our parents and neighbors crazy sticking our pert little noses where they didn't belong. About that time I started writing down my adventures, but mostly I was a reader. Not until I read Nora Roberts' early novels did I decide to create my own romance manuscripts. My road to publishing was a lot slower than Nora's was. No surprise there! I still read Nora's books-as well as those of countless other authors-but now I write full time. Unless life interferes, that is. My Hero and I live one a small acreage in the ranching and horse country of North Central Texas. Finally, my childhood dream has come true and I'm in the midst of cowboys. Our two daughters are grown and in their own homes not far away. Living with Hero and me now are Webster, our sweet black Shih Tzu, and our two shorthaired cats: Sebastian, a large black and white tuxedo who thinks he's our watchcat; and Bailey Erin, a shy apricot tabby who mostly stays in my office. When I'm not writing, I love spending time with family, reading, traveling with Hero, browsing antique malls and estate sales, and digging into family history and genealogy. Writing about strong heroes and heroines who overcome amazing obstacles to forge a meaningful life together is my passion. I love to hear from readers at caroline @ carolineclemmons (dot) com. Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains from a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. The books she creates there have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards.

I usually read Caroline Clemmons sweet historical western romances. This book was a departure from those and I'm glad I took it with her! Out of the Blue was fun, entertaining and had me wondering what would happen next.
She's a great storyteller and she brings all her skills to this wonderful romance.

I don't normally read contemporary stories, but I liked this author's Stone Mountain series and do like time travel so I took a chance on this one. I still don't like contemporary, and prefer time travel to send current time people to the past, but this book was very good. I am definitely glad I read it. It's complete and satisfying.

The heroine is thrown 160 years into the future and has to adapt to all sorts of new things, including the differences between Ireland and Texas. This is all while her man is trying to stay alive with all sorts of death attempts made against his life.

I would recommend Peggy L Henderson as your next time travel author to read, if you liked this story.

Can a twenty-first century man bridge his factual nature to believe and love a woman from the 1800s? It surely makes for an interesting tale.
Deirdre Dougherty has doubts about her own sanity. Brendan Hunter would bet good money that she is a mental case. Only his mother, Blossom and Dr. Dave Roan accept her as she is now.
When Deirdre literally drops into his life, Brendan is physically mending and mentally struggling with a drug bust gone badly. As a career police officer, he believes in what he can see, hear, touch or smell. Deirdre's "woo-woo" visions of his co-workers are more than he wants to believe.
Greed financed by drug money is not unusual in rural Texas. Though rare, corrupt cops are in law enforcement. But killing fellow officers is going too far. Brendan's dogged determination to find his partner's murderer makes the circle back to the connection across time and space between 1845 Ireland and 2010 Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas.

I follow Caroline Clemmons, enjoy the way she writes. For some reason I missed this book and I'm so happy I found it. Well written, filled with romance and suspense along with the time travel. I'm pretty fussy about my time travel books and the way people time travel. I loved this idea, very unique and surprisingly believable, scary, but believable at least to me. Loved the characters especially the heroine, Deirdre. The author gave her a sweet innocent personality along with the way she talked and the way she thought, couldn't help but love her. Looking forward to the next one, Texas Lightning. Sexual content. JudyE

A young Irishwoman jumps from 1800 Ireland into modern Texas. This is the story of she and her rescuer and his family. Very good.

Enjoyed this storyline but not as clean romance as I prefer so I skipped several pages towards the end. I read the other three books first and liked them better for that reason. Great characters and unpredictable plot with the twists and turns .
