What made the experience of listening to Lady Justice and the Book Club Murders the most enjoyable?
This is just a darn good series. I can relate to Walt, I'm male, mid 60's! I am entertained by the plot and the loveable group that Walt surrounds himself with. There is a serious side yet lots of humorous antics too!
What other book might you compare Lady Justice and the Book Club Murders to and why?
Well, I've enjoyed all of the Lady Justice series, either read or listened to. I've reviewed at least ten of the Audible editions.
Have you listened to any of George Kuch’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
George is superb! His preparation going into projects shows in the quality he adds to them! He has been narrating on the entire series thus far.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I savor, so I took a few breaks.
Any additional comments?
I have so much enjoyed the entire Lady Justice series. I'm in my mid 60's and strongly identify and admire Walt. The writing is exceptional, not high brow literature certainly, but intelligent, relevant, and funny!
I always ask myself after listening to an audio book, "Was it entertaining"? This most certainly was! I can't think of a better compliment than that.
A review copy was gifted to me at no charge. In return, I am happy to provide an honest review. Also at no charge.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2013My first in the series came to me by way of a kindle freebie. The price was right, but my expectations were less than usual. What a delight to have Walt tell his story, with his eclectic and unusual friends. One of the things that appeals to me has been that the characters including Walt have worth in their senior years, and still have much to contribute. Beyond that the stories have humor and are realistic. I find it refreshing that at least in this series of books some core values and compassion are also part of the book. I have not read this series in any kind of order, but as I find them and read them, I settle in to find out what my friends are into now. This is a fast read, no need to skip thru any pages from boredom or too much wordiness, the stories flow really well and you would miss a lot of action. Have you ever read a book where you get four or five chapters into it, and it kind of gets mired down with particulars as the author sets up the storyline? You never have to worry about that with this author. I invariably have three or four books I am reading at the same time, interestingly enough, I always end up finishing Robert Thornhill`s first. Thanks Mr Thornhill f another great read!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2017Below is the review that I posted on the Audible version of this book on June 30, 2017:
The author provided me with a complimentary copy of this audiobook with no expectation of a review.
Lady Justice and the Book Club Murders is a book about a clever serial killer that poses his victims and leaves a different book at each crime scene to taunt the police. Each book provides the police with clues about the murders and hints about murders yet to come.
Walt Williams and his partner, Ox, work to solve the mystery and find out who the killer is and do so with their usual comedic flair. The author did a great job peppering the book with enough information about various serial killers to make the mystery interesting, while still keeping the witty banter between the characters to make it a lighthearted read.
The narrator, George Kuch, as usual, did an amazing job bringing the characters to life. At one point, there's a noticeable change in his voice. Almost as though perhaps he wasn't feeling well or something. It was noticeable because it's never happened in any of the other books. His voice just seemed flat, like his heart just really wasn't into reading just then. Other than that, it was a great performance as always. And even that one spot didn't last very long.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2017"Lady Justice and the Book Club Murders" was a light read that was pleasant enough, but not as appealing as it would have been if the detective had not been so flippant. I really dislike for the author to tell the reader jokes, especially stale jokes. However, if one needs to kill a few hours, it's not bad.

: Robert Thornhill
Walt and Ox are on the hunt for a serial killer called "The Librarian." All the supporting characters return in this next installment of Lady Justice series. The mystery, suspense, humor and romance will keep the listener fully engaged wanting to finish in one go. I've listened to this three times and it gets better and better.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. George Kuch is absolutely perfect for this series. I love listening to Lady Justice.
"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2021Any time I want an entertaining light read, I pick up one of the Lady Justice books. I enjoy them all. This book was one of the best. An interesting serial murder plot unfolds as the senior citizen hero lives his normal life during his investigation. Loaded with puns and corny humour, the book entertains while solving the murders perpetrated by a deranged misfit. Another satisfying ending with all the pieces put in place.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2017I have been a fan of Robert Thornhill since I read the first book of this series. What I especially like about it is that our main character is older and yet still manages to contribute to society and solve crimes with his partner and his motley crew of friends. This series makes me feel young. Walt and Ox are up against a series killer this time and the body count is rising. There is plenty of mystery, action and of course some humor as well and I can't wait to see what trouble will come their way next. Even though this is the 10th book in the series you will be able to enjoy it without having read the other ones.
