Lady Justice and the Lottery is a fun read, once again showcasing the talents of Robert Thornhill.
I generally am amazed at the historical knowledge of Thornhill who obviously does his homework before writing his stories. He has the uncanny ability to weave those factoids into the fictional plot of his mysteries, while maintaining an air of humor throughout his stories. In short, Thornhill is something of a genius at crafting a good, entertaining mystery, guaranteed to make you laugh.

I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed this series, love the dry humor of Walt, I have to say each story makes me laugh out loud but this more than most of them. I laughed so hard my tummy hurt people at work said there she goes again, my boss said what is so funny, then said your listening to that audio again aren't you. I know we have all thought about winning the lottery and what we would do with the money, but I doubt any of us have every thought of spending it the way these men do. I love how the author spins a tale of danger, love with a twist of humor that keeps you on the edge as you laugh yourself silly. I love how Walt makes a mess of things but it somehow works out. I have thought about it before and always thought this series would make a great TV show only if you would have the right people playing the parts. As in this story the winners decide all of Walt's and his friends should be on TV, I couldn't agree more. This would be on series I would have to buy as soon as it came on DVD.

Mr Kuch is a wonderful narrator from his male to female voices you are captivated, he really brings Walter to life with his dry humor that fits him to a T. Each of his character voice really fit what I picture the character to sound like which makes it very easy to picture them in your mind. I had no trouble picturing the danger, ribbing, humor and excitement as it unfolds. I always give him a five start because of the wonderful job he does. I wish I could do that again but there were a lot of volume changes half way through the audio that did take away from his preference. Beside that there is no background noise, no repeating of words just a lot of volume changes where his voice is lower and than higher. It happens to many times for it to be when breaks are taken. He still is one of the best narrators I have listen to and does brings true emotions to his characters you can feel the power of the excitement, danger, thrills, and humor along with the dry humor of dear old Walter. The narrator knows how to bring you the thrills, excitement that holds your attention from the first page until the last. I didn't know just why I truly loved his narration until I listened to someone else narrate and found he doesn't put in Walt said or she said etc that takes so much away from the enjoyment of listening. If you have truly wonderful character voices they can tell you who is talking and what they are feeling. My hats of to this narrator for giving me what I truly want to listen to.

Even with the volume changes I totally enjoyed this audio, I love the laughs, even a few OH MYs and a couple of oh that isn't good.

I haven't read yet the rest of the series but after reading this I may have to. The author centers the tale around a couple older guys who win the lottery. They have visions of using their money to bring back the past more or less. These intentions are ultimately for the greater good which is how they get hooked up with Ox and Walt. The story has action from the get go and humor. I really love how he mixes it up with an older cop playing the hero and not a young hot god of a man. There is even a damsel in distress again a strange turn of events. This book is anything but stereotypical and a fantastic read for most ages.

I don't know what to say about this book - it's funny, it's serious, it's exciting, it's informative. It is written so I felt like I knew the characters and empathized with some of their situations, and wanted to give them advise about others. As the old cop lives, I learn, and as he acts, I applaud. some of the things Robert says in this book, I want to copy to my wall on Facebook for everyone to see, it's so good. I think I'm going to feel about these books the way I did about Grace Livingston Hill's books - I have cases full of them and read them over and over. Not that Robert Thornhill's books are anything like Grace's; but they both have that effect on me.

I got this book as a free download and I loved it. Another great installment of the Lady Justice series. It has everything from laugh out loud moments, to some intense police work action, and lets not forget some romance as well. I find it so refreshing that the main characters are not only very likable and easy to relate to but they also show that life is not over after 60 or even 70. I can't wait to see what trouble Walt and Ox will get into next.

Hmm. Two old men win the lottery and reminisce of the days of old. Their fortune will lead them with two cops, Walt Williams and Ox. I can’t say they’re enthralled with the escapades to come, but fate has a way of doing that.

These two are quite a pair they are put in some most unusual and highly, unlikely situations and manage to triumph over evil. If you’re a Star Trek fan, you’ll find a lot of appeal to all references tossed around. You’ll especially enjoy the heist of Captain Kirk’s command chair.

There is a bit of humor sprinkled through the tale that keeps it light.

There are a host of grammatical errors that need to cleaned-up. The most irritating thing I came across was the author putting his hyperlink for his other books constantly through-out the story. I can’t think of anything that would turn me off more than this. It has nothing to do with the story and it is over the top promotion. Very unprofessional.

I definitely didn’t care for the chapter where the drug lords were caught red-handed making a huge cocaine buy and then got off by a liberal lawyer and judge. I wonder if they’ll be standing by their thin laurels when the “smack” hits the street and crime rates soar! Doubtful. Proof, lady justice is blind.

I can see where this tale will have a wide appeal to many of the geriatric crowd as they reminisce of bygone days. Luckily, I’m not that old yet!

No interest in reading any of the other stories in this series.

This was a very interesting book and fun to read. I was glad to have a more light hearted read because Walt can be quite interesting. He is an older cop that gets in the most unusual situations with Lady Justice. His friends, partner and colleagues are all quite interesting and always getting into the most trouble. Walt is always trying to uphold the law and get the bad guys put away. He is very well developed as a character and I enjoyed all the situations he got into.

Two 'old codgers' help the police after their enormous lottery win, and highlight the skills of the 'older' Chief of Police Walt and his colleague Ox, while trying to put the money to good use. Unfortunately, as one would expect, someone wants to relieve them of their stash and will go to dangerous lengths to do it. There are repercussions one couldn't imagine and a roller coaster ride, dappled with humour. It was an interesting story, and there are more in the series which, to me, as an avid reader, is like a red rag to a bull. This type of read played out in my mind like a TV series - like Murder She Wrote but with male main characters all over the age of 60, which is unusual and welcome, definitely tongue-in-cheek with just the right amount of comedy and wit. The Star Trek angle must have required quite a bit of research, unless the author is a dyed-in-the-wool fanatic, and it was surprisingly informative too. I was hooked from the first page - it's got mystery and adventure - and I'm pleased to have discovered the Lady Justice series.
