- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2019Lady Justice and the Broken Hearts is my twentieth enjoyable read/listen from author Robert Thornhill. Another entertaining clean read, filled with puns & one-liners, as always dealing with current social topics. Each book in the series seems better than the last as Thornhill continues to up his game. Narrator George Kuch again adds greatly to the listening enjoyment with his wide variety of entertaining voices & inflections, Kuch IS Walt Williams! I’ll definitely be reading more from Thornhill! I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Since I own both the Audible & Kindle versions I was able to follow along while being read to. Up next is Lady Justice and the Conspiracy. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2015I have been a Fan of Robert Thornhill for a long time, so when the opportunity presented itself to download the book for free, I immediately jumped on it. As usual the Author seems to get inspired from personal events and what is largely happening in the country at the moment and weaves it all into a fun read. This book is no exception, except I thought he might had too much going on this time around. Its full of humor, action and heart, yes pun was intended. Now because this is a series, the Author takes great care of giving backstory to the arrival of new characters for people who are not familiar with his books. So you are never lost while reading his books. I missed the motley crew that usually helps Walt get in and out of trouble, but they all made a brief appearance. Even the Author himself was included in this book. Overall, very entertaining as usual.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2025I’ve been reading these in order and I’m not stopping until I’m at the last book. I hope Robert doesn’t stop writing because I’m not done reading
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2015I loved this book. Although I do need to read all of them in order now. Very few " series" books catch my attention, but this sure did. It's fast paced and humorous. I loved the characters a lot. And I read the entire book without taking a break. I was definitely craving more after I was done! I intend to purchase the entire series although I'm on a tight budget. Some Authors books can not be ignored. I. Know I'm going to enjoy them all. Keep writing these wonderful books!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2015Would like to read others in the series and by this author. Nice, told by someone you're sure you'd like to know and could actually connect with. He's human. Good story that kept me involved and reading too late at night. Also kept me from painting my kitchen, but I only feel a little guilty about that.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2016I understand someone's possible demise is traumatic but writing a book about one's heart operation as a murder mystery was a little too much. Parts of it was okay but the mystery part was regulated to small passages.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2015It was a good read, but a bit boring when he goes into too much detail about his heart ailments and kidney stones. I'm 70 years old myself, but I still find it boring to listen to someone tell about their ailments and surgeries. I haven't read the first book, so I found it a bit hard to believe that the main character had been hired on the police department at age 65. How was he able to pass all the physical tests? Also, most cops have to start out in patrol for several years before they are promoted to detective. I was a cop myself when I was much younger, so I'm familiar with the process. So, starting out as a detective, and undercover at that, at age 65 was a bit unbelievable to me.
It was humorous, but not the laugh out-loud sort of humor they make you believe his books are full of. However, I might try the first book in the series to see if I find it any more believable than this one.
It seemed to be three short stories in the one book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2018(Originally posted on Audible.com) The author provided me with a complimentary copy of this audiobook with no expectation of a review. I didn't think you could pack so much into one book. Walt suffers two health-related scares (that have nothing to do with his work), captures two separate serial killers, and foils a terrorist attack! Oh, and if that wasn't enough, the author makes a cameo appearance LOL. I don't know how he comes up with this stuff but I hope he never runs out of ideas!
