Crave (Brawlers Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,078 ratings

Welcome to Brawlers Bar…

A quick pit stop for a comfortable bed to sleep turned into an eight-year stay. Vincent “Crave” Butler hit the road the day after college graduation and hadn’t looked behind him since. He’d swore to never stop moving, but the night he drove into Powers, Georgia changed the course of his life. He’d hit a bar called Brawlers with its rundown exterior and pride flag beside the door, the next day he had a job. Second in command to the Head of Brawler security, Crave found the place he didn’t have to run from. No one would call Crave sane. He lived to make people as uncomfortable as possible just for his own twisted amusement. That all changed when a certain cute as fuck bartender walked in for an interview.

No one wanted Twitch Harrison around. He was small, femme and annoying on his best days, downright abhorrent on his bad ones. When college turned out to be a no-go, and the parents canceled his credit cards he’d needed a job. Walking into Brawlers, the roughest gay bar in his hometown, was like a game of pick the thing that didn’t belong—him. The two owners, Scary and Tank, hired him on and four years later he was still that thing that didn’t belong. No one made it more apparent than bouncer Crave Butler who didn’t hide the fact he barely tolerated Twitch’s presence.

Crave threatened every man who thought they’d get the pretty Twitch but would Twitch rather be in their beds than his? Only one way to find out and he hoped Twitch was ready for forever because that’s what Crave was determined to have.

I have read books from the Twirled World series, so I was familiar with both Crave and Twitch. I thought that both characters were amazing, they both had difficult past that made them who they were but they each wanted to be better for the other person. I believe this is a developed and complex story that is worth reading. I would suggest reading the books from the other series, but this book can be read as a standalone.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I really liked the chemistry between Crave and Twitch. I liked how they were able to get through their issues to find their way together. Although their were typos, it wasn’t much of a problem for me. I have read much worse as has anyone else who once attempted to read Harry Potter fan fiction, which is a mix of small children writing and people whose primary language isn’t English. The plot and relationship was interesting. The sexual content was good and flowed well. It was an extremely easy read for me and probably my favorite book of both series so far (I didn’t, however, read Scary, Elijah, and Tanks book…no shade but I struggle to read those types of books so I skip them).

My only issue with the story was that it felt like Crave didn’t have anyone who really cared about him OTHER than Twitch. Saying Bull was his best friend would have fit better if the guy acted like it at some point. I get being overly protective of Twitch, but Crave’s life wasn’t roses either. There was little to no compassion or empathy for him. Just because his defense mechanism was different than Twitch’s doesn’t mean he wasn’t still messed up. Having your entire “friend” group question a love you have harbored for years when you already lack in self-worth means you need new friends.

Absolutely love the Twirled Series, and this one is just as good. Crave and Twitch are two of my favorite characters so far. Great action, of the violent and sexual sort, but also a great love story, with emotion and tension. Also a very well written book, I was instantly right back in the Twirled/Brawlers world. Cannot wait for more.

Loved it!!! I've been counting the days waiting for this release and was not disappointed at all. You feel connected to the characters, feel their pain and what they have tried to hide. I love that characters from previous books have made appearances yet the focus was on Crave and Twitch. Feel like I'm fan-girlings for my excitement for this book and ones to follow. I love how the author haw woven in harsh issues with the main characters overcoming them and shedding light on the pain they have caused.

The characters were written well and the story was interesting but what threw me off was as times the dialogue became childish and moronic. The main characters would be having a nice adult conversation and then in the next page it was completely ridiculous, it seemed to happen when the characters were around their coworkers, it was insane, one moment you’re reading a wonderful declaration of love or a moment of the characters opening up and then enter one of their coworkers or someone that’s not the pair Twitch and Crave (btw, worst names ever, their real names are Evan and Vincent, nothing wrong with that) and the dialogue is childish and annoying, overall nice read but only if it involved the main pair.

I really enjoyed this book about the men of Brawlers bar. This is the first book in this world that I've read and I'll definitely be going back to read some of the earlier ones. Crave is a beautiful mess of anger issues and aggression, and a deep seated fear of becoming like his abusive father. Twitch is such a sweet, tortured soul, that is trying to find his place in the world - despite his parents disapproval and attempts at "fixing" him. Personally, nothing makes me angrier than parents that use religion as a basis for torture (ie. Conversion therapy). I'm so glad that Crave and Twitch found in each other the calm and solace that they both needed. The story had a fast pace and kept me moving from start to finish. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5* stars was the need for a decent editor. There were several incidences of choppy sentences, incorrect tense, and just remedial grammar. It was slightly annoying but not enough to make me give up or lose the train of the plot. Just could have been avoided. All-in-all, a great start for this series and I'm already looking forward to diving into the next book.

I'm so glad I found this book. I knew Crave was going to be a handful right from the beginning but Twitch...my God did I fall for him. He was everything I love. Small in stature, hurt from an awful childhood, fierce, vulnerable, sweet as neck and a virgin. Yes. I like virgins. I liked that Twitch hadn't ever been kissed too. This could have seemed weird but with the way he was raised it made sense. He felt so broken but he knew that Crave would be safe for him. It was really cute that he kept stealing Crave's shirts. How they were both oblivious to each other's feelings was hard to believe. When you saw how protective Crave was, it was obvious. Yes. I loved Crave's protectiveness. Who wouldn't want a guy who would go ballistic on someone who was trying to hurt you? But what cemented it for me with Crave was how gentle he was with his mom and Twitch and how he was so worried about hurting him. I'm kind of a sucker for books like this...the friends who love each other but need to be nudged into admitting it.

I'm really excited to go back and see how Lucky and Priest got together. Scary, Tank and Elijah too. And I really can't wait to see Psycho fall for somebody. That will be fun to watch.

Wow loved this book so happy that Crave got his man and more importantly Twitch found some happiness if you read the twirled world ink books, which I thoroughly recommend as well, you will have met the brawlers crew in them. I laughed out loud on many occasions but I also had a few tears!! I love the fact these books aren't very long I sometimes get bored and lose interest if there is pages of description,it's also great that there isn't months to wait for the next book as I now can't wait for Psychos story!!! Loved it
