THE PRICKLY CHRISTMAS KISS
2017 RWA OK Best Contemporary Romance Finalist
By #1 International Bestselling Author Allyson R. Abbott

Emma Louise Fallon, aka Elf, has two wishes for Christmas. Having spent the last few months bragging about her latest boyfriend, who's turned out to be a womanizing cheat, one, she needs to escape her well-meaning family, and, two, she needs to avoid all men while she's in a man-hating mode.

But stranded alone in a cold isolated cabin, when her girlfriend is forced to bail out on their vacation plans, Elf makes one more desperate wish: Can she please learn how to build a fire before she freezes to death?

The solo rustic life is becoming all too much for her. She's convinced that a stray cat, who has decided to keep her company, has magical powers, that the local shop owners are secretly Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and nothing can stop her from laughing when the hot local Martian -come cop - come veterinarian - introduces himself as Rudi.

Will Elf need to break her rule about staying away from men, and rely on this hunk for helping her start a fire? Or, worse, yet, will she be able to control the fire that Rudi's ignited in her?

TWO HEARTS' CHRISTMAS WISH
(TWO HEARTS WOUNDED WARRIOR ROMANCE BOOK 4)
Voted #13 Best Indie Book of 2017
2017 IAN Book of the Year Finalist
by Multi Award-Winning, USA Today Bestselling Author Tamara Ferguson

Seventeen-year-old Jason Matthews made a wish when he'd shared a kiss with Katherine Conlin under the mistletoe at Dragonfly Pointe fourteen years ago. Now an Air Force Captain and wounded warrior, he awakens in the hospital in Germany where his dreams have been invaded by the girl from his past.

Once he returns home to the states, he finds out approaching Kat might be a little more difficult than he'd thought since she's been in a long term relationship for nearly two years.

But another year later, when Jason discovers she's on her way to the Dragonfly Pointe Inn for the Christmas holidays without her boyfriend, he seizes the opportunity to be reacquainted.

Kat had been expecting a proposal this Christmas, and when her boyfriend backs out yet again on the carefully laid plans she's made for them, she realizes she probably wouldn't have been happy with him anyway.

Kat has often wondered what happened to Jason Matthews, the boy she'd made a wish with years ago, and the last thing she expects is to run into him again at the Dragonfly Pointe Inn.

Will there still be that special Christmas magic between them to make those long ago wishes come true?

Because the previous stories in this series have all won Readers' Favorite Book Awards, including the 2016 Silver Medal in Military Fiction, I was looking forward to reading Tamara Ferguson’s latest wounded warrior romance. This story did not disappoint! In fact, I think with its lighthearted theme regarding family and friends and the love they share at Christmas time, it might be one of my all-time favorite stories written by the author. To me, a talented writer is someone who has the skill in transforming an obviously well researched topic, such as wounded warriors and the trials they face in rehabilitation, and turning this subject matter into a heartwarming romance full of love, joy and hope. I can certainly see how this author has won her awards.

And wow! What a stirring prologue - I can envision this scene in Iraq perfectly.

Somehow, Luke finally managed to wedge the cockpit open, and when he reached inside to pull Zach out, Jason held back the burning cockpit door. He felt a blistering pain in his hand, but he was more concerned about what was happening inside the plane. Zach’s flesh appeared to be on fire, and Jason did what he could to assist Luke with pulling Zach out while propping up the door.

    And later -
Jason’s vision unexpectedly went dim, as one of his men approached, and stared at him with apparent concern. “Sir, we need to get you over to the medics.” It was then that Jason realized he was bleeding, and looked down at his left hand. What hand? He stared dumbly at the mangled, bloody mass of bones he’d used to prop open the cockpit door. And then his mind abruptly went blank, as he collapsed onto the ground.

It’s truly poignant when the author returns to the past to share the moment when Jason and Kat fell in love-Jason grinned. Kat looked so cute with her eyes closed and her head tipped upward, waiting for the kiss. He was a little nervous himself when he lightly laid his lips over hers.

“Oh, that’s so good.” he whispered against her mouth, moments later, when she’d finally relaxed.
Kat laughed softly, with her mouth still pressed against his.

He couldn’t understand it. Everything about her in his arms just felt so right. He’d been kissing girls for a pretty long time now, but what was it about this girl that made their kiss extraordinary?
Kat was like magic, he decided, nuzzling his face against hers. He simply held her in his arms, because all he really wanted to do, deep down, was to be with her.

If you’re looking for exceptionally well-written military romance that’s both stirring and emotional, as well as very romantic, I would highly recommend Tamara Ferguson’s multi-award winning series. Two Hearts’ Christmas Wish is a beautiful 4th addition to the already 3 time Readers’ Favorite Book Award Winning Series.

    A PRICKLY CHRISTMAS KISS
This was an adorable romantic comedy. I enjoyed the Christmas twist with Elf and Rudi, with his big red nose, as well as the cute little cat named Sue, (named after the Johnny Cash song), who was nudging the romance along through the entire story, despite their continual bickering.

This story definitely brought a smile to my face, and it's a delightful romance fitting for just about any age group.

A Prickly Christmas Kiss is a delightful, sweet, humorous romance with a touch of Christmas 🎄magic. When you combine a heroine named Elf, a hero named Rudi(who happens to have a red nose), a magical male cat named Santa's Little Helper (or Sue🐹), and a jolly older couple🎅, place them in a town called North Pole(rton), mix in lots of snow⛄ and Christmas magic, you have the ingredients for a wonderful story. Allyson R Abbott doesn't disappoint.

It's hard to rate a book that contains two stories when my reaction is quite different for the two of them. I would probably give Mistletoe Kisses 2 stars and Christmas Wishes 4 stars. The first story struck me as being a little silly, but I appreciated that the hero in the second story was a wounded warrior. Both were light holiday reads.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Christmas Treat
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 14, 2016
A PRICKLY CHRISTMAS KISS by Allyson Abbott is a perfect companion to while away the hours over the holiday period. There's intrigue, a little magic, a healthy dose of laughs and just enough sexual - but clean - tension to spice things up a little. The intrigue comes in the form of the curious town in which the hilariously-named Elf spends Christmas. Mysteriously, its inhabitants know more about their new visitor than they should, leaving her disoriented and confused. Nevertheless, Elf resolves to enjoy her break, even though the supposedly cozy cabin she borrows seems intent on thwarting her. A seemingly supernatural feline, Sue, provides the magic, trying his best to guide his new owner whilst mocking her clumsiness. The narrative is peppered with gentle slapstick humour, and the witty rapport between Elf and Rudi is delightful.
Abbott's novelette is fun, engaging and cleverly written, and it is easy to see why this writer has built up a loyal following. Her writing style is perfect for the genre, her ability as a storyteller undoubted. I have no hesitation in awarding five stars.

TWO HEART'S CHRISTMAS WISH by Tamara Ferguson is an entirely different proposition. The story starts with a bang, literally, as the male lead is scarred, both physically and mentally, by the horror of war. Then we rewind a couple of decades and learn about Jason as a young man, the fateful summer he spends with Kat and the following Christmas, when they shared their first kiss. Fast forward to the future again, and recovering wounded warrior Jason gets the chance to rekindle his romance with Kat.
Tamara's piece lacks the comedic qualities of Allison's, but this is compensated by emotional investment. The tragedies suffered by Jason and his peers are all too real, and their stories are told with sensitivity. This tale is perfect for fans of wounded warrior romantic fiction in particular, and romance lovers in general. It also deserves five stars.

MISTLETOE KISSES AND CHRISTMAS WISHES is a wonderful collaboration, and it would make an excellent Christmas gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed the second story in this book.
Reviewed in Australia on December 28, 2016
I really enjoyed the second story in this book. It reminded me a bit of a Nicolas Sparks story. The hero and heroine, Jason and Kat, meet each other in their teens and really like each other. I enjoyed reading about them when they were teens, and the events leading to their first kiss. They are a sweet couple and you can really sense there is a connection between them. They are soon separated though. Jason enters the military and cuts off communication with Kat, accepting that she will go on with her life and meet someone else. The story resumes fifteen years later. After an injury, Jason returns to Crystal Rock, the place where he met Kat all those years ago. As fate would have it, Kat is going back to Crystal Rock for Christmas that year too. Enter the magic of Christmas and mistletoe! A sweet romance. I would give this book 5 stars individually.

The first story in the book was a cute Christmas story. Everything and everyone had a name association with Christmas. The setting was perfect for a romance, a remote cabin in the snow, and there was some magical stuff going on (in particular, to do with the cat) but I just felt that the romance itself was a bit lacking. The hero was a bit late to the party in my opinion. I would probably give this story a 3 and a half.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 8, 2017
This is the first book that I've read by this author, so I had no idea what to expect. I know I love Christmas books, so I thought this would start my Christmas reading list off because I've had it on kindle for a while. However, the story ended at 36%, and was then made up of chapters from other books. That is one of my pet hates with books. I feel cheated because I thought I had a big chunk of the book to go then it suddenly ends. That being said, the story was very different. It was your typical small town, snowy cabin scene that I love, but I didn't connect with the story or the characters. The cat was a bit OTT for me. Elf and Rudi would have been perfect on their own in the cabin without the mystical town, cat and fictional Christmas names. I really wish I connected with the book, it just wasn't for me.
