Beautiful Heartbreaker: A Pam of Babylon Novella Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 67 ratings

“Don’t look now, but Jack Smith is right behind you,” Marian whispered. A flush of pleasure cruised through Genevieve’s body, but later, she thought it might have been a warning.

The years of Jack Smith’s coming of age occurred during the best and worst times in Manhattan's history. The son of Upper West Side elitists, raised with the best of everything, one secret aspect of his childhood set him apart from others in his class.

Beautiful Heartbreaker tells the story of Jack’s transformation from a young, innocent boy to a larger than life icon who took the city by storm.

For followers of Pam of Babylon, Beautiful Heartbreaker fills in some of the blanks his death left unanswered. Will the mystery of Jack ever be unlocked?

Wow, what a great introduction to the history of Jack and Pam! It was so interesting to see how Jack grew up and what made him tick and become the man he was. It's nice to be able to meet him so he can become a real person in the story. His character comes to life and you get the reason he was so attractive to people of both genders.

If you love the Pam series like I do, you will want to read this. It actually answers a lot of questions about how the characters came to be from the very beginning. I'm so glad Beautiful Heartbreaker was written.

Being a fan of the Pam of Babylon Series, Jack was a character that left me wanting to know more about him. Finally understanding and clarity arrives by the end of the book. The author, Suzanne Jenkins, introduces characters and weaves them together into a beautiful cloth in every book she writes. Beautiful Heartbreaker is no exception. With a smaller cast of characters, they are even more fully developed. It is a prequel that fulfils the questions and leaves the reader satisfied. Leaves me waiting for the next Pam of Babylon book. The cover was exactly how I imagined Jack would look.

Good character development and deep dive on Jack Smith - author did a great job of creating a character and providing enough fodder for the reader to thoroughly despise him! MUST read the other books in the series for this one to have the impact necessary to understand the context, character development and this critical piece of the puzzle.

A beautiful man on the outside, and a giving man. Being so handsome opened doors for him as well as his intellect. However, when it comes to romance his heart is cold and selfish. A very interesting read.

Right off the bat, my confession is that I m reading this before the other books! My bad, I know, but am in hopes that at this late stage I have learned what made Jack Smith tick from his early trials and tribulations. And, yes, he had so many to overcome from his early life.

As we all know, growing up is difficult enough without having a difficult childhood to deal with along the way. And, possessions and money do not have any bearing on the scars that an unhappy childhood leaves.

This is a most interesting short story in that the reader is taken along for the 'rides' between Jack and his young friends. The night of the Prom was certainly an eye-opening event. Billy, Jack's younger brother elicited a strong feeling of sympathy from me.

Appearances are important (according to the manner in which Jack was raised) and he is a master at keeping those up to the highest level of society. A most interesting discussion concerning success and what drives it are also included..

I won't say that I enjoyed this story but I will say that the author has nailed the troubling years of adolescence perfectly. One must learn to deal with the gravity of their actions - and sooner is better than later. And, Jack comes to mind again when I write that sentiment....wonder why?.

Interesting looking into a life very different from my own. Character and scene development was good, but I didn't like the jumping back but still referring to what happened in future, just a quirk of mine.
