In this, the fifth installment of the Rick Cantelli, P.I. Series, Rick and Lo find themselves in the middle of the C.A.I.R. & BLM mess. Why is BLM suddenly targeting Jim & Ellen's school, accompanied by Muslims? Are these demonstrations, or a plot to possibly perform terrorist acts? Rick and Lo find an infiltrator in their midst, and have to discover who sent her, and why. Of course, all this, and more plot twists treat the reader to a fast moving story that could easily be taken right off the front pages today. De Leo even manages to include the "clown craziness" that has suddenly plagued us. First off, those of you with politically correct sensibilities, let me warn you off. De Leo is not your author. It is clear throughout that De Leo is taking the selling out of our Country by the open borders crowd quite personally. He makes no bones about how matters ought to be handled. For those of us who agree that a more direct approach to our current troubles is needed, De Leo's books are a breath of fresh air. What makes this series, and indeed, the other series De Leo writes so fun is our investment into the cast of characters. We follow the careers, the relationships of the various characters as if they are personal friends. The "three's a crowd" relationship of Ellen, Jim, and Temple provides an element of suspense, especially as Ellen's lack of tactical judgement often leads to unexpected confrontations and danger. We also feel and appreciate the pride Rick has in Jim, and the man he is becoming. And in the end, we have the introduction of a new character, Kull, the pit bull puppie. In the end, De Leo's books are highly satisfying fantasy that make one want to start loading magazines and strapping on SOG knives to prepare to defend our Country. Love this guy! Love this series!

When you write as many ongoing series as Author DeLeo does, it is hard to keep the stories fresh and new. The Cantelli PI series is the shortest of the series, but depending on the individual readers taste, many believe it to be the best.

I love all the thriller series Author DeLeo produces, it would be impossible for me to pick my favorite of his series, but of all the individual books in his thriller series, this book is his very best work. Author DeLeo has perfected the art of pacing in his books. Most readers at we driven crazy by books where it goes as a smooth steady pace, but rushes everything in order to end the book quicker than the pacing of the rest of the book.

The other thing that makes this book so great is the number of characters, and the fact they continue to develop and grow. The reader's get involved with the characters it becomes more like a letter from home than a book. Probably a 10 star book!

Rick Cantelli, P.I. is another of Mr. DeLeo's fantastic series. This latest book finds Rick and his partner Lois Madigan (his one-time CIA handler) fighting evil forces close to home and this time it's personal. With their no-nonsense crew they have to step up to help Rick's recently discovered grandson Jim. High school isn't what it was in the "olden" days seems to be the thought of the day. Rick's past has caught up with him making everyone he knows and loves a target. When BLM and C.A.I.R. join together to cause disruption and chaos it takes Cantelli and Madigan to figure out what's really going on and when they do...look out. With skill, wry humor and Rick's "seventh decade" of experience this is a great book and not to be missed. Mr. DeLeo knows how to keep you laughing, capture your interest and keep it only to groan when the book ends and you realize you have to wait for his next exciting adventure.

Again, looking forward to the next book, #6 A novella double feature Rick Cantelli P I Bloody Hell and Demon Series, Dark Future. Looking forward to it again!

I started to read this several days ago but wasn't in the right frame of mind. Rather than spoil what I knew would be an amazing story with a bad mood, I set it aside. I'm glad I did.

This is surely the best Madigan/Cantelli adventure yet. The characters are honed to perfection, the banter is laugh-out-loud funny, and the problems and their solutions are genius.

It seems that Rick and Lo improvise as they go along, but that's the beauty of it. Each scene is tightly controlled to take the reader to the solution he wants, even though he doesn't know he wants it until he gets there.

Every threat is addressed, whatever the source or whoever is at risk. My hat is off to Mr. DeLeo and his superb writing skills. I'm already anticipating the next installment.

Bernard DeLeo just keeps keepin' on in this genre. I follow the site and scoop up his books as fast as he can get them on the street. Fun, exciting and raw. Not for the politically correct or sensitive. "Blood Ties" simply stays with the trend of high action, page turning entertainment. Great stuff.
