- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2018“The NIght of the Jaguar” is full of action, twists, and turns. The story begins with Summer and her new husband Jerry on their honeymoon. Summer is looking forward to sipping margaritas and enjoying her new husband, but Jerry seems preoccupied.
Jerry is a police officer, who can’t seem to let go of his job, even to spend time with his new wife.
Summer becomes suspicious, and more than a bit pushy. Because of this, she somehow winds up in the middle of a sex trade that Jerry is trying to uncover.
I’m not sure if this is part of a series or not, but I would love to read more about these characters and get to know them better.
I liked the message of the book—it talked a lot about trust, and what it actually means. People think that trusting someone is telling them every little thing, when in reality, trust is trusting that person to keep somethings to him or herself. Secrets can destroy a relationship, but not all secrets.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2018This is apparently at least second in a series. I didn't have a problem filling in the presumed knowledge.
First, Summer is deeply involved in the paranormal world. She sees ghosts, talks to them, has visions, and they give her information on occasion.
Jerry, her new husband, is a police officer. He married a woman that can't seem to stay away from trouble; luckily for him, she has supernatural helpers. He doesn't always believe her, since he can't physically see part of what she sees, so it puts a strain on their marriage.
The book was an easy read; it flows decently, has good grammar, and a fun, interesting plot. I think I am going to read more of this author's work. I like the concept of a jaguar as a spirit animal. It gives an excellent insight to Summer's feisty personality.
The cover is amazing. I love the artwork! I also liked the descriptions in the book. They seemed to combine with the art style from the front and created excellent visuals.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2019The Night of the Jaguar (Summer McCloud Paranormal Mystery) by Nikki Broadwell is full of thrills and adventure. I love Summer's pursuit of sex traffic cartel members and attempting to save the abducted girls while on her honeymoon in Mexico. Her new husband Jerry had not told her he was on secret assignment from the FBI which caused her to feel betrayed and produced lots of relationship issues at the same time. There is also a strong paranormal thread running through this story. Very difficult to put down.
I was delighted that the author gave me a copy to read. I am voluntarily posting an honest review of this entertaining book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2018This book has danger, mystery, adventure, and love. Summer has no idea when she goes on her honeymoon with Jerry that Jerry has secrets. When their honeymoon turns dangerous as Jerry's police work becomes evident. Summer's anger at her missed honeymoon gets pushed aside at the mission of saving a group of women from a horrible fate. After facing horrible circumstances they finally are able to be at home. While they were in Mexico Summer met her spirit animal, the jaguar, that becomes a source of tension between her and Jerry. Why is it so hard for Jerry to believe? Afterall Summer talks to ghosts. Their marriage struggles and almost ends in divorce. Will they ever be a team? This book is full of supernatural ideas. I was not sure I would get into it at first but I did. It was an exciting read although I felt it slowed towards the end then grabbed my attention again. I really enjoyed the story and recommend it to those who seek a book with many facets.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2018This is a new author for me. I was excited to check out this book. I love big cats so that pulled me into this book right away just by the title. lol Summer was my favorite character but they are all good. This book was a great adventure with supernatural mixed in. I was told the White Tiger is my spirit animal and I hope that is a good thing for me. But this book was a good read. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*
