An orphan endures her grim childhood by cultivating a powerful belief in the myth, the fairy tale, the happily ever after. But now, as her story begins, she’s all grown up…

Lindsey, a kinder teacher in survival mode after an unthinkable divorce is brilliant in the classroom where inquisitive and humorous children surround her. Unfortunately, unwanted sinister challenges invade her off- hours. Strange phone calls haunt her. A stalker, perhaps?

After learning the shocking truth about her ex-husband, she doesn’t want to be alone. Still, she isn’t ready to go looking for new love, but men find her anyway. She’s thankful for her 180-pound mastiff, Wendell. He thinks he can solve her problems. Sometimes, he does. He’s lovable, he’s loyal, and … he’s the teacher’s pet.

By chance, Lindsey meets a handsome grad student with a propensity to play detective and who is also involved in some tricky human research. His eyes are on Lindsey. But will his heart follow? Can she learn to trust again and allow him into her life amid the odd mysteries that keep springing up?

A teacher. A lover. A survivor. All Lindsey wants is her own happily ever after.

Charming... unexpected... emotionally charged!
--- Amylynn Bright, author of Finish What We Started

Ms. Rohman’s entertaining novel, WANTED: AN HONEST MAN, has all the hallmarks of a bestseller, including a cast of inspired characters that bring real-world authenticity to her tale.
--- BookViral

Reading the first chapter of Wanted: An Honest Man I couldn't help but be reminded of the scene in Sliding Doors when Gwyneth Paltrow comes home to find her man with another woman. It's a really powerful scene and Cricket Rohman captures the same sense of sickening hurt. I have to say the writing is superb in this highly enjoyable Mystery Romance.
--- Avid Reader

For the most part, this is a clean romantic book that includes mystery and adventure, although there was some sex and a few swear words. I loved how Lindsey handled the troubling issues with a few of her students as well as the delightful holiday show she put on with kids. This book was fun and seemed so real. I gave it 5 stars for entertaining me and making me want to read the next book.
--- Diana’s Book Reviews

I only give a book five stars when it completely captivates me. This caught me on so many levels, and I could not put it down. I enjoyed the details about teaching kindergartners, the lively characters, and loved Wendell, the dog. I bought the next two books in the series.

Wanted: An Honest Man (The Lindsey Lark Series Book 1) by Cricket Rohman is the first book I have read from this author. The first book in three. The first thing that intrigued me about reading this book was the fact that the characters live in Arizona. Yeah same place that I do. I will say the author was right on spot with all her Arizona references which makes me really happy. I also love this genre, Women’s Fiction, Romance, Contemporary and some action and adventures. There are lots of twists to keep your mind thinking of what is going to happen next.
I also enjoyed reading the story, Lindsay is a kindergarten teacher, she is sweet and smart when it comes to being a teacher. But her personal life is not going well. She is married to Anthony and well he leaves her for Shawna, a young stripper. Oh and by the way he is a doctor. She also has her best friend Laurie who is also a teacher with her at school. They grew up together in foster care. Lindsay seems like the perfect teacher, and that she really enjoys teaching her students. I really felt the author did a fantastic job with Lindsay’s character. She is very likeable and maybe a little gullible but we can all grow and she is young. Oh and there is the young cute Chinese food take out driver. Jake, what a great character, I wont tell you to much about him but I like him. All the characters are interesting and make the story.
I really loved the book right from the start, the plot moved along at a perfect speed, the story was never dull and I couldn’t wait to read the whole book. The adventures of Lindsay were fun. The very last adventure I felt was a surprise, I know I would never do that. I can’t tell you what it is, you will have to read the book. I enjoyed the writing style and felt the author did a great job. I felt the twist in the story were fun and some unexpected. For me the book was nice and fast paced. I can’t wait to read the 2nd book in the series.
For the most part this is a clean romantic book. But there was sex, not really descriptive and some swear words. There were some issues with a few of the children and I loved how Lindsay handled that. I mean being a teacher you have a lot to deal with. This book was fun and seem so real life. I give it 5 stars for being really good, entertaining me and making me want to read the next book.

“But not now. I could never be with him again. I have a new understanding of what is important in love and in life, and he doesn't fit the description. I'm certain of that. But what about you? What will you do now?“

Once upon a time, a newly divorced kindergarten teacher went to the ball. At the ball she met all sorts of people: her ex husband and his bizarre new girlfriend; a talking bird who became her new roommate along with the dog her ex had taken after the divorce; the pet sitter/bartender/delivery man who seemed to keep popping up; and social service people when they had to report a parent for hurting one of her kinder kids. Then there was an older Prince who wasn’t so charming, many schoolteachers who learned and taught one another, another prince who was more charming, and, finally, she got rescued by the man who loved her animals, leaving her with a choice or two about how the story ends....

This is a long term Mt.TBR for me, and I was also reading the second Lindsey Lark book at the same time. While the second is really in the mystery, this one’s more a contemporary romance novel, as well as reading like a first attempt at writing one. It’s not as compelling as book 2, but there are sad, funny and awkward parts that make sense all together. It’s an interesting story. Recommended 4.5

Lindsey's life has imploded. Her husband left to be with his stripper girlfriend, and took her beloved dog, Wendell. The rest of the men she meets have trouble with honesty. There's mystery and suspense, some of it predictable, more of it surprising. The story moves at a relaxing pace, and Laura's friendship is a nice constant in Lindsey's life. I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but it was such a pleasure to read. I've got plans to read the others in the series. Lindsey is a kindergarten teacher who thought she had a fairy tale marriage and that everything was fine. That is until she comes home and catches her husband with another woman. Her world nose shattered and she does not have a clue what to do. The story is a slow burn and I found the main character to be somewhat if a dimwitted. Shw is intelligent but makes poor choices and is wondering of her husband would come back. Let sleeping dogs lie. He cheated move on. For this reason I was not to happy with the book. She was acri g like a victim instead of taking charge of her life and moving on.

I wish I had loved this book as much as other reviewers did. I found the writing juvenile. I also was so ticked off with the attitude of the main character, Lindsay. I had trouble reading about her lamenting that she wishes her cheating bastard of a husband would come back to her. She was written with such a whimsy twist that I cringed with every silly decision she made. If I had read this book before saying I would review the author's newest third book I wouldn't have put in the request to review. I'm crossing my fingers that the writing matures just a little. Three stars is generous.

I'll admit to being puzzled, to put it mildly, by the high ratings this book had, because I couldn't take more than forty per cent of it before I gave up. I kept waiting for the pace to pick up but it didn't. The characters were believable and the plot was there, somewhere, but it was all drowned in excruciating detail, as if the writer was convinced we readers couldn't survive without knowing what each meal contained or what every lesson was about. Add to that, it often felt like the writer was schizophrenic. One moment it felt like a thriller the next a romance- albeit a very slow, tepid one. In the end I stopped caring, and stopped reading.
