Loving Therèse (LaCasse Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 23 ratings

Foxx LaCasse is a player, on and off the field, until he met Therèse. He’s athletic, handsome and hot-blooded, with vengeance on his mind.
Therèse is an intensely passionate English woman, who refuses to follow convention and chose instead to select her man from the natives of the French Caribbean island of Martinique, Foxx LaCasse. When she began to receive threatening notes, asking her to stay away from Foxx, she fled back to her home in England, without giving Foxx any explanation. Now two years later, she is back on the island, trying to pick up from where they’d left off, but Foxx was having none of it. He had one goal in mind; to have his way with her, and discard her, as she had him, two years ago. But when he finally reunites with his beautiful, passionate, elusive target, he finds himself offering his protection and his heart.
Filled with Ju Ephraime’s trademark sensuality, characters you love to hate and men you wish to love, Loving Therèse will have you enthralled with its unexpected plots and refreshing style, as these two destined lovers, recaptured and embraced their love.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This is my second novel in the LaCasse's series, where again, I have taken the liberty to write this book similar to the romance novels I enjoy reading. I love high heat, steamy romance novels and this is my writing style. If you are put-off by explicit sex scenes, PLEASE DO NOT buy my novels. I don't believe in closing the bedroom door like some others, I take you in there, right into the heart of the matter. (smile).  I hope you'll take the time to read this before buying my book. However, if after reading this, you want to proceed, then, Enjoy!

From the Back Cover

Only desperation could bring Therèse back to Martinique, after the way she'd left the last time she was there. She had gone to Martinique on a much needed vacation, and was not looking for a relationship, let alone falling in love. But the moment she laid eyes on the handsome Foxx LaCasse, she knew she was in deep trouble. Foxx was a player. He played the field, literally and figuratively. As a relatively successful soccer player, he had his pick of women. They were forever throwing themselves at him. So, when he ran into Therèse at the local coffee shop, he didn't think anything of it because he too wasn't looking for a relationship. However, after the initial first glance, then a second, quickly followed by a third; he was well and truly hooked. And so began their brief, passionate affair. Foxx offered her marriage but she rejected him, and returned back to country giving him no explanation. Now, two years later Therèse was back on the island trying to pick up from where they'd left off, but Foxx was having none of it. He had one goal in mind, to have his way with her, and discard her, as she had him. But when he finally came together with his beautiful elusive target, he finds his hunger for her had not diminished in any way, if anything, it had become more insatiable. What was he to do?......

This is a story of lovers who thought they’d missed their chance at happiness. Therèse and Foxx met on the Island of Martinique two years ago. After a brief but amazing affair, Therèse leaves the island without explanation, devastating Foxx. Fast forward to the present. Foxx runs into Therèse in the same coffee shop in which he first met her. What follows is an engaging, exciting story.

I appreciated the author’s use of name play, Foxx and has a twin brother named Wolfe. The story weaves in a plot twist that pleasantly surprised me. The scenes between Therèse and Foxx are very sensuous and steamy. I’m glad the author didn’t jump right into the sex scenes, rather she built up to them adding to the enjoyment of the storyline. This is part two, although it can be read as a stand-alone, why not read the first book as well? Fun read!

    Verified purchase on Amazon.co.uk

I bought White Magic Woman from this author, so I was tempted to buy also Loving Therèse and I did it at the end.
Loving Therèse is slightly different from White Magic Woman, although love and romance are still the main elements of the story that defines the genre of the book.

If you like passionated and strong characters, this is the book for you. Also, if you're not ashamed of reading pretty hot and sexy descriptions, this is definitely your cup of tea.
I am usually not a hot-scenes kind of reader, so I found myself blushing sometimes while turning the pages. However, that did not bother me at all.

The plot is quite smooth with a suspense twist that I don't want to spoiler. Foxx and Therèse live a shilly-shally love story that is perfect for a holidays reading. I'm not on holiday, so that book helped me to feel like I was on holidays for one evening!
Four well-deserved stars to Loving Therèse and I look forward to read more from Author Ephraime.

If passion is your obsession, the Loving Therese will be your fix. This highly heated book takes place where one expects romance to entail, the Caribbean. Foxx and Therese have realistic relationship that allows the storyline to flow along smoothly. The author did a remarkable job in keeping my attention, which seems to wander a lot during reading, and I was always going one more chapter until I do other work. That never happened though, Loving Therese kept me reading from page one until I was done three hours later, oh well so much for housework. If you want a read with high heat, a loving relationship, and guys that you wish you could call your own, then Loving Therese and all of Ju Ephraime’s books should be on your reading list. The only bad thing is that you will compare your boyfriend/spouse/ significant other to Foxx and wish that they could be more like him. Great Job!!!

Ju Ephraime's writing in this LaCasse romance series moves at a sensual, dreamlike pace; the delicious heat of the Caribbean is beautifully described and set me right in the mood for this unique love story to unfold. From the beginning of Ephraime's novel, Foxx's yearning for Therese, the woman who got away, is immediate and tangible. The author bares everything in her characters and doesn't hold back, especially in her steamy love scenes where the reader can savor every moment. The plot is compelling, and the characters memorable and complex. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a vivid and well-developed romance.

Despite the blurb, I thought this was going to be an island romance type with some mystery - maybe something like a Jackie Collins however it is an erotic novel. The story is set on the beautiful French Caribbean island Martinique. Whilst holidaying with her friends Terese falls in love with the stunning Foxx, athletic soccer player and all out hottie. However she leaves him behind in a state of anger and confusion with no explanation, only to return two years later. Why did she leave, why has she come back and even more important - what will Foxx do.

There is a lot of descriptive sexual content in this book, mostly in graphic descriptions about how Terese's body is responding to something Foxx says or does. Her effects on him and to be honest a huge portion of the book is dedicated to their yearnings and contact. There is a small story underneath it all with some violence and double crossing but all in all the majority of the books focus is on the physical side of their relationship.

The twist with the bad guy I saw coming from very early on in the book and to be honest there wasn't any surprises (for me anyway) as the story progressed. I am not sure if the book was written in english first so maybe a lot got lost in translation or if this style of writing just isn't for me. I am sure this will be a huge hit with many people but it just wasn't for me - 2/5 for me this time.

Englishwoman Therese returns to the island of Martinique in the Caribbean to find Foxx, the man she loved and left two years ago. Threats from an unknown assailant caused her to flee, and only now has she gained the courage to return—and explain her action to the hurt and angry Foxx. Their powerful sex drives bring them together despite his reluctance, and there are many arousing sex scenes. But the mystery attacker reappears and Therese is again in jeopardy…
This is frankly an erotic romance and so the sex is more important than the plot—but it’s none the worse for that. There are a couple of issues: Englishwomen don’t join sororities, and the French used is translated word-for-word from English. But the author clearly knows Martinique, it’s a pleasant, arousing read—and I enjoyed the meals the lovers ate almost as much as they did!

This is just the kind of book you need when curled up in the sun on the beach under an umbrella with a frothy cocktail. The book is a great holiday read. The characters are intense, the romance hot and the setting gorgeous. No massive surprises but that's not this is about. Want something to slurp your tequila sunrise along to? This is it.
