...Writing such as Suzanne offers is an oasis in the current deluge of paranormal/undead/horror stories - a book that provides not only a fine story well told, but also a sensitivity to human issues few authors can capture. This is a very fine read. Grady Harp, November 15

Omg, what a beautiful, heartbreaking, poignant book! This book has really gotten under my skin and into my heart and soul like no other book has in a long time. I just finished it last night and I can't get it out of my mind.

The character of Harley got so imbedded in me that I was becoming her. The other day when I was in the supermarket, I was looking at different things and I would say to myself, would this be any good for me since I'm dying? What can I eat that would make me feel better and stronger. And the I realized I wasn't dying! I'm not Harley! But she seemed to be living in me. Then I saw a tree with its beautiful atumnal colors in bloom and I said it wanted to remember it because it was probably the last time I would see fall and beautiful trees like this. Again! I had to jog myself back to my own reality.

All I can say, is that Suzanne Jenkins has stolen my heart. Every book I read by her, no matter what the genre, I absorb all of it like a good meal that I don't ever want to end. I'm so thankful that you can't gain weight from words, or I wouldn't be able to get up and walk.

Suzanne is a genius in her writing. She is so caring about her characters. They all come alive and some you love and some years don't. But that's the way of life for all of us. I hope and pray she doesn't stop writing her wonderful stories for a long, long time. I need her writing like I need food for living.

Thank you again, Suzanne Jenkins. I will be waiting for your next work of art.

Wow! This is not your typical love story - this a true undiscovered gem!

The author has put her heart and soul into this family, who will quickly become your neighbors and friends. At times, you may get the urge to reach out and slap a few of them. WARNING - Don't read "the letter" in public.

This book reached out and pulled me in within a few paragraphs. I will confess, I found one part of the book with a few too many words which is highly surprising for this author. Suzanne is known for never using too many words and making each and everyone count so don't skip any. I skipped a few in sections of this book. None the less, the story flows quickly from beginning to end. I found the outline intriguing as we found ourselves skipping whole months of time throughout the book. I actually paged back to make sure I hadn't missed something. Now having just said I found sections with a few too many words, I complain about not finding enough! But what she did worked! It worked so well, I find myself wishing for another book to see what everyone is up to!

This is a very good book, which I truly enjoyed reading. The characters' emotions are raw and real, and I shed quite a few tears over the course of the story. Even though this novel was well written, it could have been so much better if the author had hired a proofreader before publishing it. The misspelled words, and poor punctuation and sentence structure were very distracting, and spoiled some of the pleasure for the reader. Several important words were either spelled or substituted incorrectly, such as"wonton", for "wanton", giving the entire sentence a completely different meaning. It continually surprises me that an author would spend so much time and effort on a story, and then fail to have it proofread before publication.

When a motheŕ finds out she has an aggressive form of breast cancer, she is obviously devastated. Being the loving wife and mother she is, Harley realises her family still needs her, but no matter how much she wants to be there for them, she can't be. So, wisely, she takes matters into her own hands before she is too ill.

She, with her best friend Bea, start screening women for suitability on an internet dating site. Two women seem to be likely replacements for her when the time comes for the cancer to claim her life.

Jason, her husband is deeply in love with Harley, but very unwisely turns to Tiffany during this heartbreaking period of their marriage. She is a young nurse who shamelessly and selfishly tries to take him from his dying wife and four traumatised daughters. Fortunately Harvey sees her in action and realises she would be completely wrong for her family.

One potential candidate falls away, but Kathy stays. Harley introduces her to her family after confiding that Laura, her adored downs syndrome little daughter, is the result of rape.

    I cried. I laughed. I agonised.
    Its a tragically beautiful story.

Harley and Jason have a wonderful life with their four daughters. Then cancer attacks Harley. As the dance progresses, Harley prepares for her family to go on without her. She even chooses a new wife for Jason. Someone she knows will love her daughters like she does. All her lists and notebooks are used and appreciated after her passing. Jason and Kathy get to know each other and get married. Life for the living goes on. This is a bittersweet story that is so well written and so in depth that I was in tears when Harley passed. He ready to feel a lot of emotions as you read this wonderful book!

This was a beautiful story - or more like several beautiful stories - that was so real and offered such insight into the characters; though there was deep sadness, there was also a full range of other emotions experienced by the characters and myself as audience. I really enjoyed this.

Conversely, I guess this is not a fully edited version so there are some grammatical errors and omissions, and the dialogue was also hard to follow in some cases as the speaker was not always clear.

2.0 out of 5 stars poorly written, not Christian
Reviewed in Australia on March 26, 2020
After reading the blurb and the reviews, I had high hopes for this book - and at first I was able to ignore the poor writing and constant errors (particularly in tense and punctuation, but also just generally) because the story grabbed me. But after a while (I got to 70% before finally deciding I didn't care and giving up), I started to wonder why I was wading through it all to read more about people I didn't really have any interest in. I also think that the editing got even worse through the story so it was bothering me more. My other problem was the language - there wasn't much, but it also seemed to be increasing so I was concerned by what might be coming (mostly blasphemy but also some swear words). Finally, though this was marketed as a Christian book, no one seemed to have any interest in church or the Bible, unless it appeared out of the blue in the last 30%, and though mostly they were not behaving in particularly unchristian ways, some (particularly Davis) were.

All in all - high hopes, disappointing reality: poor writing, no Christian content, some unchristian content. I can't recommend it and won't be reading more by the author.

Better than a 4 but not quite a five! Really enjoyed the insight the author gave us into more than just the main character's thoughts. Some minor typos though. Heartfelt, had tears streaming down my face part way through. Some dis-join-ment of minor characters near the end. A touching journey.

Harley has cancer. This is a story of how a brave woman learns that she is going to leave her children and husband behind if cancer wins. She loves her daughters and her husband so having to think about missing out on their futures is hard. How she deals with her problems is inspiring and yet immensely readable. I loved this book and the characters too.
