    The entire series, Pam of Babylon, is a dark, well written, compelling look into a twisted relationship in a contemporary setting. This is book #6, as much depends on knowing the characters and the story, it probably does not stand well on it's own as a solo read, but as part of the series it absolutely shines as the next segment of the ongoing saga of the life of Pam of Babylon.

    When I picked up book #1, it was some pretty rugged subject matter. Though a novel, it is no light fiction. The author has done a masterful and truly insightful job of developing her characters, exploring a very complex relationship matrix involving many main characters and how they influence and interact around the primary character of the book who is dead from the beginning of the story. Through all follows, you learn much of Jack, while watching the depth charges of his behaviors detonate deeper and deeper in the lives of his wife, children, mother, brother and his family, mistress, various lovers and those whom he used and abused when he was alive. It is one of the most remarkable series of books that I have read in my life, but it is not always comfortable, in fact frequently not, which is where the brilliance of this author really shines - she makes it possible to take this painful journey anyway, and I have learned a lot through reading her insightful narrative and observing her penetrating development of characters and their amazing interactions. I cannot recommend this series highly enough. But start with book #1. {Smile}

    I don't usually read this sort of story--Peyton Place-y, totally relationship driven, totally chick lit. I laughed as I described it to my hubby. Yet, I couldn't put it down and kept returning to the book, all the while being on vacation in Hawaii! I didn't know it was part of a series, but the author had an easy way of describing each character's fit in the story.

    It was only after I finished the book that I also realized this author had written another favorite of mine, The Savant of Chelsea. I am sure I will read more books by Suzanne Jenkins--it's inevitable!

    I stepped into the world of Babylon all weekend, and like all good books, sadly they must come to an end. The Tao of Pam (Pam of Babylon Series) Book 6 I devoured, and I do believe this one is my favorite. Author Suzanne Jenkins delivers, with an unforgetable and long awaited book 6, that I anxiously anticipated. I would highly suggest reading the books in order, (as many people usually do), however I liked how the author did recaps throughout, touching on memories of the many characters portrayed, and did a little retracing of steps back in time. It not only refreshened the story in my mind, but eluded to catastrophy along the way. I was waiting for the bombshells, and let me tell you, there were quite a few. In The Tao Of Pam, everything is laid on the table...lessons on growing up, the karma of deceipt, betrayal, and death. Will Pam ever fall off her pedestal after everything she has been through, physically and mentally? Will Lisa and Brent finally take charge of their own life for once, and not rely on Pam to save the day? We also catch up with diva Ashton, one of many of Jacks former lovers, and shows us readers another side of the story. And Sandra...will she fall into old ways? Does Jack EVER die??? And the ending has me screaming, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" That is all I can give...book 7 can not come fast enough. I would suggest The Pam Of Babylon series as your next reads if you are searching for something new to get into. Every book is better than the last, and you will not be disappointed. I look forward to book 7...What can possibly happen next?! *EEEEEEP*

    Do you like sex? Do you like sex traditionally identified as immoral? This story revolves around sexually compulsive and indiscriminate individuals and those whose lives they touch. The incredible thing is that those whose lives they touch seem to deeply value the sexually compulsive characters in their midst and especially their sexualized attention. If nothing else, this is certainly the fantasy of many a sexually obsessed individual, so if you tend in this direction, perhaps you will find this fantasy pleasurable.
    At the same time, these sexualized boundary violations lead to many complications, or should we say, great harm to those impacted. Those in the larger family systems are portrayed as complicit co-conspirators who facilitate, almost helplessly, the sexually compulsive.
    Oh, and somehow rather than failing due to their sexualized acting out, the more compulsive sexually, apparently the more successful in life, love, and finances, while those who are more repressed or less manipulative are happy to receive the beneficence of the central characters.
    So this three star rating is an indication that your rating may vary!
    Spoiler alert: It ends just as complicated as it begins, and yes, this is certainly one in a series of novels.

    This review contains some spoilers.

    In this installment of Pam, we dive more in-depth with the next generation of Babylon. With her sister Marie gone, Pam begins to put more of a focus on her kids, Lisa and Brent who have begun their own lives as adults and come back to Babylon.

    Lisa is married with a child, but not all is happy. It seems as the curse of Jack isn't over as Lisa deals with some complications, tragedy and we find out she isn't so innocent either.

    Brent seems hellbent on following in his father's footsteps, which is unfortunate and worries Pam.

    We're also still getting to know jack's longtime lover, Ashton and his family, and there is no lack of drama there, either.

    And of course, our Pam, despite trying to pick up the pieces of her life a few years after Jack's death and her world crashing in, isn't safe from more drama and heartbreak.

    Just finished the 6th book in the Pam of Babylon series. I highly recommend the series as great escape reading. There are lots of twists and turns which takes one from wanting to hug a particular character to wanting to slap the same one. I promised myself I would not load the 7th book on my kindle so I could get some work done - well....already on chapter three!
