Free to Breathe: A bad boy steamy second chance romance standalone) Kindle Edition
Noah... Reputations are usually built over time and can be destroyed in a heartbeat. When that reputation has been built on a lie and is destroying my future, how do I prove I’m not the man they originally wanted the world to see? Maggie Dashwood... Noah Haxby broke my heart, shattered my world, and stole my future and I’d never even met him. Was I a fan? No. But I knew someone who was. Ask any man if he’d love to be most women’s fantasy and he’d probably say yes. Be careful what you wish for… fantasies can quickly turn into infatuations and obsessions, and sometimes, like in my case, obsessions can be lethal. This hate to love angsty rockstar romance is way more than you'll expect.
Full of rollercoaster moments as both Noah and Maggie fight through the pain to find the ending they deserve. 'What a rollercoaster of emotions Free to Breathe was...This book is more romance than rockstar and I would urge everyone to grab a copy and read it, I can't recommend it enough!' - Reviewer

- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2018As the reader I was truely devastated at what horrible pain Maggie is going through. All of what she was feeling made sense. Her meeting Noah for the first time made me feel bad for him. She didn't hold anything back on how much she hated him.
Revelations unfold throughout the story. The admiration, love, anger, hurt and anxiety run through the story. You will feel them all as you read deep into the story.
Noah breaks my heart with what he's been through at such a young age, but I also hated him when he was so reckless and degrading to people.
Maggie is your typical school teacher. Her life revolved around routine with children. She was reserved and I loved her level headedness. Her mature age helped balance out Noah's younger self. She helped him through so much. She made him grow into a more mature responsible person. Being off tour during this helped considerably.
Molly was a little hoot! How a six year old can sound so smart and sassy had me taken aback . So glad her spirit was never broken through all the pain she went through as well. Maggie had alot to do with that too.
K L Shandwick's books are gonna always bring out your emotions. She gets you attached to her characters. The story always reaches a new interest in each chapter. When your done with the book you'll be saying "that's it?" You'll always be wanting more. Love your writing K L Shandwick!💞
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2019This book totally grabbed me in the beginning. It started to loose me towards the end and then just had me flat out hating the heroine, Maggie. There were parts that literally had me closing the book because it Maggie started to come off as a whiny irritating girl that I did not want Noah to be with. I felt like she didn't deserve my man!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2020This story blew me away, I laughed and cried. The struggles and love the Noah and Maggie endured was well written. This book is definitely a 5 Star.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2018This is one of those authors you just click on,she writes that well. My heart broke for what these 2 had to deal with. The hits just kept on coming.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2024This is a refreshing take on a rockstar romance.
Noah Haxby is the quintessential rockstar, lead singer of Fr8Load. Women throw themselves at him. His exploits are recorded by the media and he seems to be the bad boy of Rock. He sees Maggie on his flight.
"... this woman who looked a bit older than me; was of medium height, no more than five eight I'd guess; and her curvaceous figure was knockout gorgeous"
Maggie Dashwood is a schoolteacher who after losing her parents had to look after her selfish younger sister Shona and subsequently her sister's 6 year old child Molly when she went off to follow her favourite rock band, Fr8Load.
"All Shona had left me was a hastily written note asking me to take care of her daughter. I had no idea she'd stoop to the new low of abandoning Molly to follow her infatuation with Noah Haxby by joining Fr8Load band's crew as a styling assistant."
This is a book about fan adulation and media misrepresentation. How when you're in the public eye, your life can be ruined by obsessed fans or vitriolic paparazzi. It's also about love and familial relationships. It's not just another rockstar romance. It's much more.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2024This was my first read by this author and it sure was a great one! With a roller coaster of emotional moments I was hooked right away. I really loved the two MCs Noah and Maggie. It was such a journey from addiction and the other dealing with being the protector while her sister is gone. The emotions are high in this story. Noah went through so much and was misguided and it’s heartbreaking. Definitely had the tissues with this one.
I really loved the lesson that until you know someone you really cannot take their outward presented persona as who they are.
I really loved the chemistry between these two and their beautiful love story had me swooning and wishing I didn’t finish the book so fast.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2024This was an amazing read about a Rick star, a grieving woman, and their hard road to love. Maggie and Noah were both wonderful characters that made me love them almost immediately. Both characters had emotional problems and issues they were going through that made their meeting and road to love heartbreaking and special. This book also teaches a lesson about public opinions and news that often portrays people wrong. I loved both these characters and was rooting for them from the beginning. This is my first book from this author but now want to read her other stories to see if they contain such wonderful characters that caused many emotions!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2024A beautifully written tragic story about how a young man and how is was manipulated by everyone around him. His record management the media that turned his life upside down and caused him to loose the most valuable part of his own life.
Noah Haxby from a young 17year old to a rockstar without any control over his own life had been pushed beyond his limits.
Margaret Dashwood wondered how her life had come to this. Arriving in America to identify her younger sisters Shona's body. Maggie was also had been raising her sister's young daughter Molly after Shona simply left to chase her own desires.
What a whirlwind story with plenty of hardships along the way.
A beautifully written unexpected lovestory like no other.
Highly recommended reading

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit!
K.L. Shandwick’s strength is writing about emotions that make her characters vulnerable and believable. They are written to be real, relatable, and thought provoking. I love this author’s writing and this latest selection will not disappoint! Noah is a rockstar who has been misrepresented by his management, label, and media but it is Maggie that sees through this and accepts him as he sees himself. A great lesson to learn that all that is written is not necessarily true. Great read… well worth it! Thank you for this gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathing a sigh of relief right now... what a story.!! 5*++
The scene is set almost immediately, sadness overwhelming grief and the identification of a loved one is just the beginning.
K.L. Shandwick has yet again delivered another stunning story and I have said this before... she has such a way with words and just when you think you might have read her best story she tops it...actually there isn’t a best they are all equally fantastic.
Maggie finds herself in the most devastating situation, it’s made worse because she has no one to support her except the officials that are there to do a job, she’s about to identify her younger sister and if this isn't bad enough we learn of Shona’s daughter... Molly. Throughout this whole opening scene, you feel as if you are right there because everything that Maggie endures is captured with such attention to detail and precision and it’s only the first couple of chapters.
You know Maggie has a problem with Noah because his name has been mentioned more than once already and not in a positive way. Maggie seems to think Noah is to blame for Shona’s death, Noah on the other hand is totally oblivious to any of this. I couldn’t wait for Maggie to realise the truth.
After a panicked exchange between Maggie and Noah he was left even more puzzled, he demanded to know who this beautiful women was only to be told of the trail of events that had taken place... shocked and angry he had a meeting set up.
This is the moment we and Maggie witness the real Noah Haxby, it comes as a surprise for Maggie and soon realises she has been judging him based on all the media coverage.
Free to Breethe is written with superb care and attention it’s an emotional journey for Noah and Maggie. Noah has suffered terrible injustice all at the hands of the media, his management and record label and more importantly his ex.
Maggie, Molly and Noah agree to meet, its a beautiful moment and Noah and Molly hit it off immediately it’s a bittersweet moment because Noah has a son Rudi who is of similar age to Molly only he’s not allowed to see him... it’s been about six years and it is heartbreaking. This is just one terrible situation Noah has been dealing with but when Noah convinces Maggie and Molly to move in with him there would be many more Situation’s and challenges to overcome.
There are times when you almost loose hope especially Noah, it’s one set back after another and there are times when you feel so nervous because life can be very unpredictable for Noah he’s been wronged so many times he could only wish for some good luck, it feels so close but so far away.
There is hope on the horizon but it’s still touch and go, with a new baby and new revelations concerning Noah and Shona their relationship is pushed to its limits and our patience are put to the test.
K.L. Shandwick has gone above and beyond with this storyline and as we approach that all important monent for Noah you have to hope it goes in his favour... it’s a hold your breath moment, however nobody is prepared for for what is revealed it comes as a shock and takes the shine off what should be the best news ever.
As Noah announces his exit from Fr8Load it comes as another shock and causes bit of a set too between Maggie and Noah and Eamon even gets caught up in it but over time it’s realised it’s the best choice all round.
Family life couldn’t be better but Noah needs to do one more thing to seal he deal, plans are put into place and in true Maggie/Noah style... it couldn’t have been more fitting.!!
Thank you K.L. Shandwick..!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hold Your Breath. It is stunning and thrilling and sexy as you could ever want.
Noah and Maggie's story left me breathless. The emotion all through their turbulent adventures had me in tears at times and tthrilled at others. No easy life here with revelations to make you hold your breath for fear of finding out more than you could bear. K L Shandwick is a master storyteller and leaves you with your tongue hanging out at her descriptive love scenes. You will be wanting to read every single book she has written because you can't wait for the next one to be released. Five stars????It is worth twice that.

4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet rockstar who’s misunderstood!
Maggie’s sister died chasing her dream ... Noah Haxby, the front man for a rock band. Maggie has to travel to Australia to identify her body and bring her home to the US. And who is on the plane with her? That’s right ... Noah Haxby in all his rockstar glory. When Noah finds out that a girl in his crew died, he’s devastated and seeks Maggie out to offer his sincere sympathies and help. Maggie finds that Noah isn’t anything like his rockstar persona and falls for the tender-hearted, misunderstood man.
I felt so sorry for Noah. Even though he was a rich rockstar, he has lead an empty, lonely life ... you know the saying “money can’t buy happiness”! And Maggie wasn’t dealt a much better hand in life. She lost her parents and now her sister ... all she has left is her sister’s 5-year old daughter. I loved that these 2 broken souls found each other ... even though it was under very sad circumstances. Once again Ms Shandwick delivers an excellent rockstar romance.!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Rock star romance with a difference!
First book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. Maggie arrives in Sydney from New York to identify the body of her sister and repatriate her body to the States. Her sister worked for Noah Haxby and his rock band in a background position. Maggie feels hatred towards the rock star as she feels he's to blame for her demise, but they end up on the same flight home, and Maggie's discovers you maybe shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
I enjoyed the romance between these two characters and their journey together. It wasn't angsty or nasty which makes a refreshing change.
I did feel the momentum was lost towards the end a bit; however I did find it mostly unputdownable which hasn't happened in a while.
