AlTonya Washington has been an author for over 20 years. Traditional, indie, and scholarly published, she's won the Romance Slam Jam EMMA Award, and is a two-time winner of The Romantic Times Magazine Reviewer's Choice Award.

She's a Librarian and enjoys writing in genres such as Historical, Fantasy Romance, and Interracial Romantic Suspense. Her pen names include Ally Fleming, T. Onyx, and Temple Carver. She's best known for her long-running Ramsey/Tesano multicultural romantic suspense series. In 2024, she started a new Novella series entitled "Not By Blood."

    In re-reading Secrets in Love, I discovered that I never wrote a review when it was first released. Can't imagine why because I loved the story immensely. From the beginning of the book when Amon Mikende and Patrice Flowers fight their mutual attraction because of her youth to the end, where years have passed and maturity and forgiveness had to occur, I was pulled into the plot headlong. This book has wonderful progression in its storylines about passionate, sacrificial, and ultimate love between not only lovers but family as well. With suspense about the consequences of errors borne from youthful naivete and financial problems, the hope and rewards of hard work, the estrangement caused by secrets and lies, and the impact of tragedy, this book was a page turner for me both times I read it. If you've never read an AlTonya Washington book, this would be a good first read. If you're a fan and haven't read this one, do yourself a favor and start now.

Two brothers are in love with two sisters, but this story is about Amon and Patrice, she's 19 and he's 29. Amon fights dating Patrice because of their age gap, but life altering events occur when Patrice keeps secrets from her sister Cali and Amon. A life is born, one is taken and devastasting tragedy occurs to Amon and Patrice. A college student who seeks unconventional employment and keeps secrets in the name of love. My heart broke for Amon and her choices. An emotional ride. Can't wait to read more books from this author.

    I’m never disappointed by AlTonya Washington. Love at first sight Amon and Patrice shared an attraction to each other from the first meeting. Amon was a giver but Patrice didn’t want to lean even when he insisted. Her strong desire to help her sister with bills made her do something that was out of character. I enjoyed the book and had to realize that Patrice made adult decisions that affected her life in a negative way. She didn’t trust Amon’ love for her to be truthful with him. Read this book I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

    Great book from Altonya Washington. Patrice and Amon met through their sibling, who were dating at the time. Amon was older than Patrice so he tried to fight his feelings. Over time the feeling became stronger and the acted on those feelings. However because of things in Patrice past, she decided to end things with Amon. Amon was very upset over this but never gave up on her. Over the years many things occurred in their lives and Patrice continue to bury her secrets deeper and deeper. Will Patrice finally get tired of carrying this baggage of secrets and reveal the truth? Or will she continue to let it destroy her relationship with Amon?
