Icia Graham’s love affair with Rakim Transou had the makings of a fairy tale romance with the happily ever after ending, until the night of Rakim’s college graduation party. For Icia, it was the night her life was forever changed. So desperate to escape the horrific memories she’d suddenly been saddled with, Icia left school and the man she loved.
The years passed and; in that time, both Rakim and Icia reached goals that carried them to the heights of success. For Rakim it was a powerful advertising agency that brought him a respected and revered name in the business. Icia’s accomplishment was a bit darker, but no less revered and she had no desire to revisit the past and be tortured by thoughts of love lost with the only man she’d ever wanted.
A series of events however, would bring Icia right back to where she swore she’d never return. Once more Rakim Transou was back in her life and she was simultaneously overjoyed and distraught. How could she start anew with the man who still meant everything to her, when there were so many secrets between them? When the need for vengeance on those; who were still very much a part of Rakim’s life, still raged so viciously inside her?

AlTonya Washington has been an author for over 20 years. Traditional, indie, and scholarly published, she's won the Romance Slam Jam EMMA Award, and is a two-time winner of The Romantic Times Magazine Reviewer's Choice Award.

She's a Librarian and enjoys writing in genres such as Historical, Fantasy Romance, and Interracial Romantic Suspense. Her pen names include Ally Fleming, T. Onyx, and Temple Carver. She's best known for her long-running Ramsey/Tesano multicultural romantic suspense series. In 2024, she started a new Novella series entitled "Not By Blood."

    As always Ms Washington delivers a novel of danger,suspension,drama, deceit,laughter,tears, and anger. I could not put this novel down ,once I started to read I was hooked and did not stop until
    2am and had be @ work that morning at 6am. I was really rooting for Hakim and Icea their relationship was at a stand still because of a secret.would really like to see this as a series because of the secondary characters like Sampson & Leon . this is,a much read.

    This was an enjoyable read. Two peeves I had were the 15 years separation without Icy telling Kimm what happened, and when they got together it took her so darn long to tell him the truth. The latter was very frustrating. I enjoyed Icy and Kimm's love story overall.

    I loved this story but I hate that Icia and Rakim spent so many wasted years apart. This was a tough story but the love they had for each other made it easier. Even after they reconnected they still had issues but I'm glad they were strong and smart enough to keep fighting for their rekindled relationship. I also loved the secondary characters in this story. Both H/h were surrounded by good, strong, loving people who had their best interest at heart. Loved the twins, they were off the hook. I'm sorry Icia didn't feel she could rely on Rakim enough to confide in him, but she did what she thought was best for her. If things were different she might not have been in a position to help other women in need. Great story, and I'm glad we got two HEA's.

    I could not put this put down. In fact I got extremely irritated when my family intruded on my reading time. I know this book is not the usual style of this author but she really knocked it out. Definitely a TKO! I just wish real life justice worked the way it did in this book!! Loved it from start to finish. Also appreciated that the first scene was not to graphic. Subject is a little sensitive for me but did not detract from the awesomeness of this book!

    Icia ran from her past and her only love...Rakim. Rakim has never stopped loving her and by chance he finds her. He's never letting her go again. She's been hiding a secret. This story is so good. The journey is filled with so much love and the supporting characters deserve a story. Friendship, undying love, devious acts, and karma...yeah really good story.
